Wow a LOT of comments about how I "have never heard of car jacks." I'm addressing this in the next vlog but yes, I do in fact know what car jacks do/are. And yes, I've used them. In the episode I say, "Cars are made out of pretty strong stuff these days, so grab them in the right place, like Superman on the cover of Action Comics #1..." Look close at the cover -- he's grabbing the car at the jack points. I then say the car might only bend or creak in a way you didn't expect. THAT was my acknowledgement of the issue. I didn't say that picking up a car at the perfect points would destroy it. Hope this clears things up. Thanks for watching! -- KH

Omitting Superman, you're right about pressure. But with Supes i think his unique way of grabbing things is explained by his supercharged bio electric field supplemented by his tactile telekinesis. I may be completely wrong about it all but i think thats how he bypasses the pressure issue. Superman isn't exactly physically strong, but rather an uber psychic. When he comes into contact with something his bio-field, aura, tactile telekinetic power or whatever engulfs the entire object and somewhat applies equal force to it. The more effort he uses, the more even spread the force is applied, which would explain how some super heavy objects deform to some degree but still retain their relative shape as Supes is lifting or pulling them.

One explanation I've heard for how Superman is so strong and manages to lift things without them breaking under their own weight (like in _Superman IV_ when he lifts the Statue of Liberty by the arm without it snapping off) is that he has a form of "local telekinesis". Basically, whatever he touches becomes lighter or somehow levitates, so he's not really lifting the full weight. That doesn't really make much more sense than the problems it's trying to explain away, but there you go.

Of all things, Dragon Ball Z made a decent attempt to address this as a problem. During the Cell Saga, Goku needed Gohan to really control his Super Saiyan power, so he had them stay transformed throughout their regular lives and not just in battle. My viewpoint of super strength has always been a bit different than this video. The video seems to go with the idea that because your max strength is x times stronger than your min strength must also be x times stronger, but most heroes or characters with super strength show a lece of control suggesting that their max strength is increased, but their min strength is the same as everyone else. From there its all about control (which is something humans learn automatically over time and use). Conclusion: super strength can be super difficult for a new user, but for someone with years of experience living with it then their day to day could be perfectly unaffected. The big danger moments are when startled/spooked. Or if someone with cerebral palsy had it...

Youd have to be bare minimum 100 times, thats 30-50x stronger than the strongest man alive. Brian shaw talks about how he has to be gentle with things because he breaks them so easy. Now imagine being at least 50x stronger. Yes there are different muscle fibers but the muscle fibers used are relative to your strength level. Like, have two people bench 135. Have one max 225, have another max 450, 135 i light for both, but 135 will always be lighter for the stronger person because his strength level is so much higher. You could use less than 100% of your strength and live a normal life but itd take extreme control. Cause even lightly exerting yourself would be the equivalent of 5000 lbs. Think, imagine how little energy you exert picking up 5-10 lbs. At 100 times stronger you'd be exerting 500lbs of pressure just by moving your arm, thats enough to shatter bones.

I think something to keep in mind about super strength in movies and comics it usually also comes with a super resistance. I understand what you're saying, however if somebody has super strength I'm sure their bones and tendons would correspond to the strength. I saw someone saying Deku has this problem but that's because he wasn't born with this power, so his body naturally wasn't prepared for this since he's not supposed to have super powers. Just like using steroids you can increase your limit in terms of muscle mass, but your bone and tendon durability doesn't really grow the same as your muscle mass potential so you have imbalance in that department. This is why a lot of bodybuilders injure their tendons first before their muscle, their body simply cannot keep up simply because it's not supposed to.

When you see the citizen attempt to do normal things, everything ends in disaster in a similar fashion to what you described in this video. He would unintentionally rip the steering wheel of his car off, remove the door handle to the door of his apartment, and he's unable to turn on the sink to his kitchen because he's tearing into everything with the slightest effort. !!YOU...you know the parameters of fictional characters as much as I do(and probably a lot more). Please explain it to Kyle, all the ways his math is off, the various factors that are missing in contemplating how Superman and Spiderman's powers work....please? Notice How he did not Cover Luke Cage's method of super strength(which is just a leveraging of the hyper elastic propertied in his mutate cells)? Kyle has no clue of how Superman's aura reinforces the structural integrity of his body and whatever or whomever he physically touches. In Superman returns, the moment he caught that airplane's right wing tip, his aura seeped around it, enhancing it's integrity, but the further from his body = the less reinforcement, and he was not yet fully charged up as he had just returned from Kryton(thus he was just getting his powers back into effect). Due to lack of solar charge, the distance from the contact point and centre of mass, the wing eventually snapped, so he had no choice but to catch it at the centre, which he did by grasping the nose. You can see the ripple of distorting force through the airplane as it comes to a halt, it was his aura straining to maintain integrity of the hull while he was applying the max force he could without squishing the whole thing(or having it splay open in an explosive manner). The only example I can not completely account for, is Spiderman's catching that cop car, without using webbing. It's a stretch to claim spidy's electron attraction has a secondary effect of spreading exerted force over a greater surface area than is physically contacted by his body, but I do recall Kane(a legendary clone in the Spireman comics) demonstrating just that as he tore down a building using the force of this electron attraction which is ordinarily just used for wall-crawling.-This makes spidy's wall crawling power very similar to Qi-manipulation...he does eventually learn a form of Qi-sensing as part of his training with Shang-Chi to compensate for his temporarily missing spidy senses. All of these fictional characters have very precise control over their use of force, thanks in part to altered states of perception in correlation to their use of force.

Along with super strength you also are as many times strong as you are tough. This would make your body 100 times heavier most likely, but the strength would even it out. You would also be able to turn this off with the strength so you could be gentle without weighing 20,000 pounds. 3. You're careful to lift heavy objects with both hands, unless it is a wall, where destroying it is the optimal outcome 4. I reckon borrowing ant mans suit to lift things like planes ( so you can spread the pressure more evenly) would be a good idea 5. Just give the bad guys a little shoulder tap so instead of exploding you let them know, they ain't walkin home again

7:10 This was exactly why Homelander COULDN’T have saved those people on the plane. If he tried to lift it, the more force exerted upwards would exert to him downwards so he needed something to push off of and because of pressure, even if he could of pushed off something to lift the plane, it’s structures would bend and tear apart and he would likely puncture holes through it, making the situation worse cause then people would be falling out the plane. He couldn’t stop it head on like Superman in Superman Returns cause he would’ve gone straight though the nose and make things worse as well. EDIT: Also a similar example is Omni-Man and the subway

I still remember reading a Spider-Man paperback novel there's a scene where he's about to punch Doc Ock and he's working out the math in his head concerning fall speed and such to know how hard he should punch to not actually kill Doc Ock. He gets into talking about how fights go so long because he doesn't want to kill anyone and he goes lighter on the punches rather than harder to avoid accidentally killing anyone. While a neat concept I just went nope I have a hard time believing in mid fight anyone can do that level of calculation. Before anyone says you can definitely pull a punch I'm not arguing you can't, I'm just saying the degree of thinking that supposedly happened in those sorts of scenes had me laughing.
@phoebusapollo83652 жыл бұрын
Well for one, Spider Man is a genius of Iron Man’s caliber, this already gives him the ability to think faster and more intricately than the average person. Then consider combat speed, Spider-Man has dodged lightning and dodged point blank bullets before. This, coupled with his Spider Sense giving him a warning every time a bad guy tries punching him, would make it plausible for him to easily and effortlessly dodge blows (relying on his spider sense heavily) while using his genius mind to calculate stuff.

I assume that all Super Strength is scaleable. It's not just super because it's greater than what humans can produce, but it's also super because of the ability to control the force you're applying perfectly. So when Supes punches a bank robber, he's scaling his strength down to Mike Tyson force, but when he punches Doomsday he's scaling up to Maximum. He could also be using his Flight to anchor him from moving when he hits things. Of course that doesn't explain other characters, like the Hulk, but Supes seems to have it all covered. As far as catching things that he should go through, I think he's been able to extend his personal forcefield around objects in the past, so maybe he does. Superman can basically do anything.

Question: How dense would your bones need to be to not pulpify when you _Hulk Smash_ Iron-man's standard (gold-titanium alloy) suit? [Will having denser bones help at all?] Also, assuming all your body's muscles are 100xstronger, how likely is it that you would die from something as silly as your rib cage getting crushed by your super-strong diaphragm? I love BS-ing with Kyle , but I hope he delves into some video-game theory stuff as well~ ( your catch-phrase is way better than MatPat's)
@makor95106 жыл бұрын
I think Density would more or less keep you from flying. There are somethings out there more durable with less density. For example spider silk is far more durable then steel, yet it's far less dense. But none the less that is a good question on durability.
@TheUrbanwerebear6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, density isn't the issue, it's the material strength of the bones. Basically, in order to use super-strong muscles, the standard mostly-calcium bones would have to be replaced with something much stronger. Strangely enough, Wolverine's adamantium-laced skeleton is nearly the best-case scenario in comics for this, though he doesn't have super-strength (or at least, not nearly to the extent demonstrated in this video).

There is a reason that pretty much every portrayal of super-strength is accompanied with super-durability. Real-life competitive weightlifters have to be very careful when lifting very heavy amounts of weight. Not just from accidentally dropping them on a body part, but also from traumatic injury caused by their own muscles to their supporting bones, ligaments, and joints. I've seen photos of some pretty gnarly injuries caused by lifting more weight than the body's support structure can buttress.

Maybe but when he saved Butcher from the C4 explosion in the season finale, Butcher was disoriented but unharmed even though HL carrying him to safety at anywhere from Mach 4.5 to Mach 16 instantaneously would be fatal for a human being due to the immediate acceleration and immediate deceleration, not to mention the air compression as well. Homelander if he can do that, must have powers that either bend physics in his favor or he possesses a personal forcefield like Supes that allows him to pick up heavy thingies without them buckling under their weight due to The Wedge Principle and save people at breakneck speeds without them turning into burnt mush due to inertia. From that, I firmly believe that Homelander probably did know the physics but he still was too lazy and apathetic to at least try to save either the plane or the people in it. Plus Homelander’s excuse of having nothing to stand on to lift the plane cuz Maeve and him were in the air is a poor one cuz later in that scene, he is clearly hovering in the air, carrying Maeve.

@zenhydra6 жыл бұрын
The issue is more complex when it comes to applying "super" strength to a punch. Muscle twitch speed is more relevant to the force of a punch than the muscle's contraction force. Without a significant increase in speed and/or mass, the "super" punch won't be noticeably different than a "normal" punch. The "super" strength would be better leveraged by grappling techniques.
@zenhydra6 жыл бұрын
Yes. For about 27 years. Why do you ask?
@qrlifescan6 жыл бұрын
You are spot on... Hence why big strong lifters and body builders can't punch worth a damn... That's why a scrawny guy like me can punch harder than then... But because of their muscle mass they can lift far more than me. There are several different muscles and the human bodies motion is very complex. But we must assume that the ability to control one's strength is as easy as we find it... In dragon Ball super Beerus slaps Bulma... Earlier he flicked Goku with one finger in SSJ3 and sent him into a crater, but Bulma stumbles a bit... Clearly Beerus is able to control his work output.
@mickeyg72196 жыл бұрын
Well, on a human scale, it's hard to imagine, but for a fictional super strong being, their punching force can also be attributed to the fact that their muscles contains a lot of energy. When they made a contact with someone or something, the titanic amount of energy got transferred this way. That's why a relatively slow superheroes (when compared to flying bricks), like the Hulk can punch just as hard.

the human brain can adjust our strength better than you think, someone who gains plenty of muscle does not lose accuracy for small tasks like using a computer mouse or threading a needle. the biggest problem put about super strength is that our brains fail to adjust or wrongfully adjust our strength when we get angry, you could easily drive a car with super strength but we might rip the steering wheel of if we get road rage.

Reasons why I like the show "The boys" . It's easy to make mistakes in keeping control. Imagine how bad it be if a superhero gets drunk and loose all control of their power. Some times we manipulate things in our ever day life without realizing it. Like springs to absorb force to halt it and slow down pressures. Our joints work like that often yet that's where the spearing effect can come in to effect. That is if all pressure is focused only on one point as to two points. We see this often in the bed of nails trick. Most of those are blunted nails and numerous to spread pressure evenly. So yes because science. I'm thinking superheroes would also have to be super smart or super aware of their abilities and how to apply it... which takes practice.

controlling super strength may not be an issue. Remember the time when you need to output more strength, you needed to command more effort into outputting such strength? Let's say super strength only activates ONLY when you reached your ORDINARY strength limit so you can output more force if needed. In this case, dexterity will not become an issue.

I would say that would depend on the super strength. Not all forms are created equal, even within the same set of stories. There are versions of super strength which require an activation (Sugar Rush's ability in My Hero Academia, Strong Man in Marvel Comics), and while active, they would have less dextrous control. In many cases, you are probably correct, like Bruce Willis; character in Indestructible. He has the potential for super strength, because of his invulnerability, but he doesn't know about it until he has reason to try. And then he finds out he can lift several hundred pounds with only some effort, and no practice.

if you were just standing straight with no body movement and you punched someone across the room then yes you would fly across to the other side of the room but why don't professional boxers fall on their back when they knock someone else on their back? it is because they don't just extend their arm very fast, they create momentum with their body towards the target so when they make contact it doesn't knock them back but instead brings their already existing momentum to a halt so they can remain standing. wouldn't this be applied to having super strength? isn't it just on a higher scale?
@theblasblas6 жыл бұрын
I think that you have to take into account what you're bracing against. Depending on how you brace yourself you'll either skid a shorter distance or gouge out part of the floor. Normal floors don't have the roughness or strength to support a person that's making use of super strength.
@azmah85236 жыл бұрын
You have a valid point about conservation of momentum, but theblasblas also has a point. If you were to throw a punch with superstrength you would have a very short time to build the momentum with your body to counter act it. This would put a lot of force on the floor so you would slip before your punch makes contact. If you don't build enough momentum, then you slip after you make contact.
@becausescience6 жыл бұрын
Think about the force here. Boxers punch with 1000-3000N. Boxers weigh (heavyweights) 1000N+. The force of friction at the feet (bracing), will be some fraction of this weight. So we’re already taking about “resistive” forces in the ballpark of the forces applied. What I’m saying is take all that, but dramatically increase the punching force... - KH

The same force is applied to the cup and the wall, or the car or the plane, it's an objects resistance to being moved that really hurts you, because it causes a sudden stop and compression; but the same force is still applied to the object you are punching.
@derpboss26716 жыл бұрын
that's not true, the reason punching a plastic bottle has no effect on you is because its mass is so much smaller, so when your mass hits it, both take the same force, but the bottle is accelerated much faster due to its smaller mass. Also, a plastic bottle can move around, unlike a wall, so you're not actually just putting your force into the bottle, you're also putting a lot of your force into the air around the bottle. If the bottle stayed still like the wall, you would feel a lot more force coming back at you.
@JuanRamirez-bj6qe6 жыл бұрын
It just depends on mass. If you have more mass than the object being hit, your mass overtakes it and in turn doesn't damage you.

doesn't super strength just mean you have the ability to have a lot of strength but you can also have fine motor skills and precision. i mean there are people who are above average strength because they are bodybuilders and they can still pick things up without breaking them, but they can also use their strength when they need to win a strongman competition.
@theblasblas6 жыл бұрын
The problem is when you're about 50 times stronger than the strongest strongman. You'd have to have super-motor skills to control that.
@flower-ld5id6 жыл бұрын
i don't think that's how it would work. why exactly would they not just have a bigger range of strength where they could easily do delicate things as well as lift heavy stuff and that sort. i mean super strength is impossible because your bones and stuff aren't strong enough to use that strength, every force is met with an equal and opposite force. so you would still be crushed if you tried to lift a bus, or your arm would break if you tried to punch a truck into the sun.
@deadman28076 жыл бұрын
flower edit well lets say you had bones strong enough to support your strength. Bodybuilders have larger muscles and muscles are spring-like. You can put more force into a larger spring. Lets use Hulk Hogan at his peak he had 24 in biceps. The average person has roughly 13 to 16 in biceps. He can lift a lot more because his muscles can store a lot more energy. So lets use an average build of 13-16 in and lets say increase his strength 100 times. His muscles can now produce 100 times more energy but they can't store 100 times more enrgy. So in theory if they tried to lift 1 lb they would lift with the force to lift 100 lbs. Keep in my that i know very little about anatomy but if that was hard to follow here is a summed up version. Bodybuilders have more space to store energy so they can control the amount of energy they release so if you took the average man and increased his strength past the amount of energy his muscles can hold than that amount of energy wouldn't be conserved because his muscles can't stand it.

Of course. And most of the characters with heightened strength are also displayed as having heightened physiology in other ways, too. Most of them have several kinds of enhanced dexterity in play, including things like super-speed (Superman, Wonder Woman), Spider-Man's agility, or even just generally-superhuman dexterity (Thor, Wonder Man, Jessica Jones, Aquaman, the Hulks, Captain Marvel, Beast, Vision, Anaconda, Tigra, Drax, Sub-Mariner, etc.). The idea that they wouldn't be able to control their strength could, maybe, be applied to someone like Giant-Man or Colossus, maybe the Thing, but that's pretty close to it. I can't think of a single reason to assume that someone like Thor can't tell the difference between how much power it takes to open a door vs. rip the door from its hinges.

Hello, actually in my opinion lifting a car would not bend it or pierce through it. Cars have special contact points which are reinforced and made specially to lift them up. It's very common for example for stiff/sport cars to lift a half of a car just with one jack. By the way I totally love your show :D You're Best internet scientist on youtube :D

You are right, but then you'd still have to grab the car at those points. Also, you would be likely to bend it as a jack gives extremely stable pressure where you probably won't. The jack will jack the car straight up where as you will probably lift it at an angle. And besides this, catching a car would still wreck it. That's the point he was trying to make most of all, I'm guessing. Don't nitpick

StrangelyAmusing But with your super strength (and a metal box, maybe), you could compress large amounts of food so it would be easier to eat. Also, everything you eat would be like eating applesauce because of the massive strength of the muscles in your mouth. So, you could eat like 20 meals in one, eating 100 times more than normal in 5 meals instead of 3, because you are 100 times stronger (although that doesn't necessarily mean you burn 100 times more calories per day when you think about it). And actually, put on steel springs on your legs. You will be doing more work with less calories. So being stronger can make you more efficient so you don't have to eat much more than normal.

What if super strength was an active ability, not a passive one? (Passive ability- an ability that will automatically be triggered by a loving thing’s body when needed, e.g.- paper cuts healing. Active Ability- an ability that can be used by a living thing, though the said being will have to consciously use it, in other words allowing this being to turn the ability on and off, e.g.- superman’s heat vision). That would make you use super strength whenever you want, though not all the time, so the real life issues. To be fair, Spider-Man (MIND THE HYPHEN) has been shown time and time again to be one of the strongest humans on Earth. The cinematic verse aknowledged this by letting him casually catch a punch from Bucky's metal arm, something that has been established to be powerful enough to catch Captain America's shield. Which has been thrown by a man who can pull down a helicopter. And throw the blunt edge of the shield in such a way that it buries itself into a concrete wall. So yeah. Spider-Man's a pretty tough and strong guy.
@ggarzagarcia6 жыл бұрын
@@bofflethewaffle well Spidey can lift up to 25 tons. His biggest feat is lifting himself from off the concrete ceiling, which weighed close to Spidey's max lift. Both the comics and Homecoming depicted this. As to vs. Captain America's strength, Spidey is definitely stronger. But as to strongest humans on Earth 616, he's like in the middle. There are many other mutants stronger than him. Peter normally keeps up with stronger opponents via Spider-Sense and his intellect (even in battle he is savy, but not like Captain America or Iron Fist, who have better fighting skills and experience).

I think not accidentally manhandling things would be innate. We have the ability to exert extreme force and also be very delicate and precise. I don't know any bodybuilder neurosurgeons out there, but I'm sure it's possible. What I do see as a problem is that your body would still be quite vulnerable. Basically, you'd be prone to self-damage. Look at Olympic weightlifting accidents, and you'll see what I mean. Elbows bending backwards, wrists snspping. It doesn't matter how much you can deadlift if your spine gets crushed in the process. Super-punches would shatter every bone in your hand. Let's not forget Newtons third law of motion. If a 250-pound person were to throw a Dodge Avenger at 50 MPH, they'd end up flying backwards at 680 MPH. Let's not forget that picking up large and heavy objects would be very awkward since your center of gravity would be off-center too. You'd tip over if you tried to pick up a car. You'd have to lift up one end of the car like a hydraulic jack and walk your hands underneath it until you reached its center of gravity. Of course, some superpower characters have ways around this _(other than Superman)_ like Colossus, who is a heavy metal person. _(They never show road or floor damage with these characters, or their feet sinking into soft ground...)_ Making his body very tough and giving him lots of weight to throw around. However, characters like Spiderman are seemingly vulnerable to this. Unless there's something else going on with his powers that saves herniated discs, torn tendons, knee injuries, and fractured bones. Last I checked, he's still very _"squishy."_ But super-strength by itself would be only slightly useful. You'd have to be very careful to super-punch a concrete wall, liquifying your entire hand, doing little or damage to the wall, sending you tumbling backwards at hundreds of miles an hour, likely resulting in your death.

I really don't think you're right about the punching across the room stuff. If someone has super strong punching ability it serves the same logic to say that that person would have the same strength stabilising muscles. So in that case they wouldn't be shot across the room, muscles like the core and glutes with a stance that almost every boxer uses would be enough, although i'm not sure if the floor would be unscathed.
@zohaq92566 жыл бұрын
It could add some resistance but it wouldn’t be enough considering how much force is being applied
@wedgelad58946 жыл бұрын
Me Me but it would be, consider someone throughing a roundhouse kick that pushes the heavy bag a metre back. It doesn't even make the kicker flinch. This is because of their stabilising muscles. In addition, the muscles in your lower body and back are much larger than the ones in the upper body so you would be super stable.
@velkoivanov91556 жыл бұрын
True, but if you hit something hard enough, even if your muscles, bones and tissues are able to withstand it and keep you upright, you will either make a hole in the ground or in the thing, or both.

It would put some force back onto you but if you're punching the person with your bare fist, that's a lot of force concentrated on a small surface area so your hand would just go right through them and because the neck isn't very stable, you could literally punch someones head off

This is why modern explanations of super strength (Superman, Superboy (the clone), Gladiator (in Marvel Comics), etc.) resort to something called "tactile telekinesis". Essentially, characters with super-strength are actually utilizing a degree of mental control (telekinesis) to not only lift the entire structure in question, but to also maintain its integrity so it doesn't shatter in their hands. Their physiology is still "super" or "enhanced", but so are their minds. So the powers are actually a kind of two-fold symbiosis of effects. Superman is physiologically denser and stronger; but he flies and lifts things by an additional effort of "mind-over-matter." (Some have taken this even farther to suggest Superman has the psionic ability to "warp" the Grand Unified Field of the Universe -- at least in his personal locality --and thereby "cheat" the laws of physics.) :)

To be fair, Superman caught the plane by the nose, which is a surprisingly clever detail, since it's curved in the perfect way that the pressure would be distributed more evenly throughout the surface of the nose of the plane. It's the same reason bridges are often arched.
@vargyassoma77336 жыл бұрын
Nonetheless, a plane's nose is still not designed to be able to take that kind of pressure. There is no reason for it to be that strong. So it would just break. @gaunterodimm87645 жыл бұрын
Well, you forgot the other thing about equal and opposite reaction: if you punch with more energy than the said object needs to be thrown in the air - you will be perfectly fine. There are some people that are breaking concrete plates with their shoulders or cinder blocks with their fists. If they don’t generate enough energy - they get their bones crushed. But if they generate enough energy to break it - then the block breaks and the bones in person’s body are totally fine.

You're confusing stunts with physics. Do you believe you can shatter a brick wall with an egg without cracking it? It doesn't matter how fast you launch it, the egg WILL be destroyed. Same with bones, hitting something HARDER doesn't take away the force you are experiencing. You have to be able to weather the same forces that are breaking what you're hitting.
@alexzero37362 жыл бұрын
The guy above is actually right. Crushing the structure of the object you hit makes most of retaliation power to fly away, although there would be initial impact. You see, physics law mentioned here works perfectly for strength applied to the object, but since object is shattered the effect becomes scarcer, depending on what actually happened, how much impact is still there, after shattering...

Actually, we already have super strength. Believe it or not, but our muscles are build to be capable of lifting tons. The only thing stopping us from doing that is ourself, because our own body limits the capacity you can use of your muscles. This is to prevent the muscles from either ripping the tendons from your muscles or bones. But in some cases we can surpass that. There are stories of people doing incredible things. For instance, a child got under a car and his/her mother basically lifted the car up long enough for the ambulance to arrive. She did end up getting severly injured though (I think she had a broken spine). And I know someone who doesn't have such limitations. He was simple-minded, but he's incredibly strong.

The act of punching through a wall would actually require less force, because a proper punch does not actually use the entire surface of the fist. A proper punch uses only two knuckles, which would be well under a square inch of surface. Even an untrained punch wouldn't use nearly all of the surface of the fist, but would probably use three or four knuckles. That probably doesn't change any of the facts of using the super strength, but I just thought I'd throw that out there.

Yes, a good punch would be distributed across the index and middle finger knuckles. The surface area changes the formulas drastically-- a full force punch on all fingers would probably result in a boxer's fracture, and the absorbed 3rd law force would be along the aligned punch.

And then you have to account for the individual variances. Like on my fists, the second knuckle sticks out almost half an inch farther than my first, so I would have half the surface of the proper punch.

This would be right if you tried to punch a hole the size of your first few knuckles, but you need a hole the size of your fist, so you will be punching the area of the size of your fist

Dustin Saunders Boxer's Fracture... So that's why my knuckle still hurts after punching that wall 3 years ago...

Adriano Tironi The thing is, tyre shock of the first two knuckles hitting would crack the wall all the way through, and the rest of the fist would just be pushing that broken concrete out of the way. And as an aside, it is possible for regular humans to punch through cinderblocks. I know people who have done it.

So you'd just have to learn how to handle it over time. I'd live with it.

This is why "kid-friendly" superhero fights make even less sense unless both fighters can withstand a super punch. Superpowered fights with super strength against non-super-durables are inherently R-18 if one actually considers the pressure generated by super strength. You punch someone and they don't fly across the room in one piece, they fly across the room in millions of pieces.

Everything you’re saying right now true but assuming you just like got the power of superstrength versus if you are born with it and you grew up knowing your own strength big difference

True. It's hard enough growing up like that but if you got it all at once it would be almost impossible to control.
