While Kirito doesn’t necessarily have the same swearing vocab as Abridged Kirito does, they do have a similar line of menacing thought process. It’s pretty hilarious, how close in character they are. The only difference is that while one is more subtle, the other just doesn’t hold back.

Honestly, considering how much more human abridged Kirito has been since Aincrad ended, you might be on to something. They both seem to have that awkwardness in real life, but the two versions behave differently because of differences in their home lives. Abridged puts up that jerk facade because he's relentlessly bullied at home with absent parents who don't care. The original seems to have a pretty calm home life that I can tell but is still lonely and awkward around others. At the core of it, they're really not as different as I thought. They just present themselves differently to people stemming from that difference in upbringing I mentioned before. Honestly, it kinda just shows how good Something Witty is at what they do. They still kept the core of the character, but showed that it was hidden deep down because of the things he went through. And showed it in a way that actually made sense.

They also see games differently, unabridged Kirito sees games as an alternative to reality where people can hang out and make memories. He believes that you are true to yourself in-game or in real life, even if it's unnintentual. Abridged Kirito seems to observe games as escapes and different to reality in ways that cause him to up-play his attitude, following original Kirito's philosophy while denying it to himself. Also, novel Kirito's inner monologue is basically if SWE Kirito wasn't a jackass. "Fortunately, there were no children crying at the site of of a giant grasshopper chomping on meat." - Kirito (feasting with the grasshopper on a man-faced giant bug). "If any species of human being is allergic to rules and regulations, it's gamers" -Kirito (commentating on the Aincrad Liberation Squad). And without context to anyone with him, he gave Yui a rock and told her to eat it, without telling anyone any context as to why she should eat the shiny red rock Kirito just handed her. He's so funny it's actually shameful we barely get any Kirito inner thoughts in the anime.
