For my essentials and casual lifestyle, I wear classic tops in various colors. I also like a few white tops (not much into blouses) as well. I mostly wear solids or a simple stripe rather than printed tops.

This was a really useful and welcome video. While you were focusing on basics, it was inspirational on many levels. I have increasingly felt that everyone in my 60-70+ age group is wearing the same thing. I have always loved stripes but find I hesitate to wear as often as I would like because EVERYONE is wearing the same stripes now!!! I am going to have to look for things with a little more uniqueness....

I agree! Breton tops have become a bit of a cliche for example. And I've never been tempted to buy a button-down shirt, it reminds me of what I had to wear at the office when I was young and longed to wear cool clothes and jeans instead.

Thank you, great advice! I am that sporty person style, feeling best in sneakers… now after watching your videos a lot, I am wearing chic sneakers and added some accessories, chic jeans and so on. still sporty but a whole lot more beautiful! I think what was most important to learn was to wear what pleases me, but take it up a notch. If I continued „you do you“ 100 % I would look and feel a lot less confident and classy. You mentioned in a Monday video that your channel is not you do you and I appreciate this a lot dear Nada.

This really addressed my problems with basics. I should have more basics because of my job (llama breeder) but my style has always been fun, eclectic, and colorful. I need to be more practical but I am drawn to the unusual. I used to use the fiber and spin and weave so I had occasions for my artsy side to shine, but that is no longer part of my lifestyle, but it is hard for me to leave behind. Reality bites. LOL.

I ran a rabbit rescue centre for a few years and it's tough when you work with animals because they're adorable but all that cleaning, etc. - you just can't wear your coolest clothes, unless you're OK with them getting damaged and dirty. I only have a cat now and I let him jump on my back and he sometimes makes holes in my clothes where he uses my shoulder as a scratching post. I'm 58 and I let him because it is better than having lots of unworn clothes in my wardrobe that eventually will go out of style if I don't wear them. Hugs to the llamas x

Thank you for the informative video that includes all of us of every style type. Your coverage of the white shirt is especially interesting because, although I'm a devoted classic minimalist, I have never loved a white button-down shirt, probably due to scoliosis that is not visible but makes a button-down uncomfortable and twisted. It's wonderful to see other possibilities.

My H Q D U P S super fakes are amazing! Most of my genuine bags are broken or torn! Unless these places start backing up their quality with warranties, I will never buy from them again. I can afford the real thing, I choose the best quality fakes because they don't break. I don't mind if something goes wrong.

I have tried so hard and cannot get a white button down to work for me. I have tried all the tricks

I’m guessing you don’t want to spend a lot of money. I had probably eight white button downs in my closet, all of which cost like $30-$50, none of which I could ever wear. I thought I just couldn’t wear the white button down. Then I decided to spend a little more and try one more time. I googled “best white shirt” and bought the most highly recommended one. I wore it three times the first week. Then I bought a lavender one in linen, same style (oversized) and I just got a white striped linen one and a regular white linen one. The problem is that most of the white shirts available are cut to fit like men’s shirts - if you have any type of boobage they are a disaster. Once you are willing to spend a little more on a roomier, more flattering cut, I think these shirts will become your favorite pieces. They did for me!
