Personal experience: what I experienced with my exgf went from “I’m so in love with you” to “you were mean to me” on to literally flipping me the bird when we crossed paths in public after we broke up. When a woman feels scorned, reaches resentment, loses genuine burning desire.. it’s 100% over in her mind. DO NOT engage fantasy that she will somehow change her mind AFTER you’ve improved yourself in a way that she might be surprised to see or learn of. Grow and change for yourself. Once it's over it's over. Once she cheats or leaves you. You can never trust them again. There's too much history. If you can forgive her betrayal once. What's to stop her from doing it again? She's already shown what she'll do once.... God, that's only what you know about. She didn't just cheat. She ran her mouth to anyone that would listen. She trashed your reputation too... You have to overcome that too. I've tried to bring the trash back in the house. She'll be doing the same thing a few months later. It's a mindset and she has already tainted your rep with friends and family. You're just a place holder. Move on. Be happy. Don't look back.

She wants to think she can have me but it'll never be more. I can't trust her. She can't really let people know we're hooking up. She's ruined. She'll never have a relationship again that she'll be happy in.

I had an ex get close to another dude and I dumped her. I slowly began to improve myself and I look better now than I used to. Got married (getting amicably divorced now), and have done many things I wanted. 6 years after our break up she tells me I was her one and only true love. Didn't do it for that reason but I know that she deeply regrets her past behavior.
