I left the private sector fortune 500 company after 17 years because of a terrible leader yet the company was great, and left for a government job doing the same work but it is boring and after watching this video clarifies that having a boring job that pays well not too bad if you think about it because now I have peace of mind and no stress, just bordom..

Boring 9-5 with homework = you can do your job in your sleep and spend the rest of your free time pursuing whatever you like. A job is what you do for money. A career is what you do to get meaning in your life. BIG difference.

This is what I’m trying to figure out right now. What is the most boring, repetitive job I can get that still pays the bills, while I hone my writing and content creation, which is what I want to do long-term? I’m currently a software engineer in the finance world, and while that’s the dream job for a lot of people right now, it’s not fulfilling for me, it’s draining all of my energy, and I don’t have anything left at the end of the day to pursue what I really am passionate about. So thanks for bringing this up!

do not go for anything repetitive. I've worked in a factory, trust me, anything that requires repetitive motion all day will have the same effect. I had a job that required very light focus, I was basically taking notes on video used to assess fishing habits. If I were to characterize my attention, it was like a long light smooth focus, like driving through the country. As opposed to factory work that makes your day feel like 10,000 pieces.

My favorite job of all time was working a blockbuster. My boss was extremely lenient and this was in the early 2000s so blockbuster was going under. I spent so many hours at that job having deep conversations with my coworkers, having my friends visit me, watching movies on the TVs. I wish I could’ve worked there forever 😢

I left my teaching career to start as a graduate data analyst at the federal government in Australia this February. I need work-life balance and the time and energy to learn. Teaching nowadays is probably an unsustainable path. Some boring side hussles I did include picking and packing on a farm, Uber Eats delivery, and driving a tour van. They are indeed valuable experience😊

This is fantastic. I've currently been highly debating if I should take on a full time job to make more money in a career that I know I won't want anyway or if too keep my easy part time job that I actually enjoy and just go full throttle into launching my own business. I think that if there ever will be a time that I will have enough time and energy to get started on my own it will be now. Thank you for shining some clarity into my situation.

Happy to hear that! It's really not an easy decision and you can spend years contemplating what to do. When I made a similar decision about 10 years ago I know I was taking a leap of faith. The years that followed weren't easy at all and there were several times I almost hit rock bottom (again). Looking back now I don't regret it, I would need to go through those hard phases anyway, no matter when I quit, whether that's at 40 or even 50. The only thing I'd do different is to save up a larger CFF (Career Freedom Fund). Wishing you all the best!

Like you I worked in banking but for 10yrs in back office (boring repetitive) and what I saw was those kind of jobs typically leads workers behaving in a very unprofessional manner. Throwing loan files all over the file cabinets and on the floor, fist fights, arguments, there were people sleeping with each other at work lol 😂 it was insane, this is why I would favor something more exciting that invest in continuous training and development.

@@MultipleCareerslol 😅yes back office is a totally different world, I would say that it’s equivalent to a sweat shop. The average worker have kids and barely a high school diploma or they’re interning for the summer. So most of them felt like they couldn’t do anything else. The morale was very very low. Yes, I’m graduating next month from University and that experience is what made me decide to go back to school, so when we’re talking about education and the importance of it. I know first hand how important it is..

Your journey is pretty fascinating! Unfortunately where I'm at currently, diving into entrepreneurship just doesn't spark any excitement for me. Dealing with taxes and all the bureaucracy, I've been down once, not doing it anymore!!! Packing my bags and heading off to a new country isn't on the agenda. Here I am, surprisingly finding peace in a boring job. Life's got its twists, doesn't it?

Yep I have been with Securitas as well guard for almost a year at a manufacturing plant on the weekends and it’s boring as hell! Extremely slow on weekends. I’d feel like i’m losing my mind sometimes, but I’d much rather do that than be a cashier dealing with annoying customers or working fast food lol I rate this job an 8 on the boring scale

I’m struggling with this currently as a truck driver I like my job. I’m not unhappy or miserable. It is repetitive and can’t be monotonous, but I still enjoy it although I happen to feel very unchallenged. I enjoy learning and I tend to feel like my talents are useless therefore it has me considering changing jobs just for the challenge aspect although to some people, my job may be a dream job becauseit’s easy low stress and the only challenging part about it is staying awake lol

Awesome video!! I don't really like my current job but it still needs me to put efforts in on a daily basis. So I still learn new stuff. In the same time, I get to off duty on time at 5:30PM almost everyday. And this job is paying my bills perfectly. (When I work for "passion", it's not paying me good enough. ) I'm now focusing on things I really want to do after work. (Finally, I went surfing for the first time in my life this month.) So, I'll say my life is pretty good with this job even though it's kinda boring from time to time.
