Jesse, HELP!!!! Remember me? I'm rebuilding the 2001 Chrysler Sebring 2.7 liter. I'm almost done! I'm trying to get oil pressure up before initially staring it. I had the coils plugged in but not in the cylinder (fuel injectors unplugged and no spark plugs) and cranked and cranked and the oil light never shut off. So I unplugged the coils and it would shut down almost immediately. The battery cable had to be fiddled with in order for the dome light to come back on. Hhhmm. How did you "prime" or initially get oil pressure in the 2.7? Thanks so much! It's great to see a recent video from you.

Matt Garza good morning I can appreciate your concerns especially to ensure the primary tensioner has enough pressure to hold time chain tight. The starter cranking the engine over won’t be enough engine speed to build sufficient oil pressure, my plan of attack is do exactly what you do for a period of ten seconds and crank engine to go oil flowing but it won’t build much pressure if any. then as soon as your happy that nothing is interfering you can proceed to start the engine. Timing chain will be slack at initial start up and rattle for a period of 5 seconds roughly and engine should quiet up almost instantly as soon as oil pressure develops. Not a concern. Even the Chrysler master tech install video say it’s normal for engine noise for 5-10 seconds

Matt Garza on the other note, should after 10’seconds your engine doesn’t quiet down shut engine down and inspect, ive had a few timing chain tensioners not hold pressure and they wouldn’t tighten the chain after 10 seconds of run time. At that point you need to disassemble and replace the tension again or replace.... some are faulty even when new.

Thank you sir for your quick replies! Having your info available in this process has been such a great help. So I'm going to follow what you said and not be overly concerned with the oil light not going off during priming. I'll go through that process again today, hook everything up (plugs, coils, fuel injectors) and then try to start it. :)

Matt Garza here’s part 3 kzbin.info/www/bejne/eXiQfmmXeNx_jsU. Part 1 doesn’t have any useful information for the 2.7 this is the clip that mentions the 5-10 seconds at intial Startup is normal

I've missed your words: "Chrysler Sebring agaaaiiin" ☹ Nice to see that this car is still alive! I had also a leaking coolerline. I've changed the a/c condenser atf cooler and not fasten the lines properly 🤷♂️ But one question: Do you know why the car shifts very hard from 4th to 3rd gear after changing the atf? I had this 3 times after 3 atf changes... BUT after driving on the highway and maybe 20 kickdowns at ~40-50 mph from 4th to 3rd it's all fine and shifting smooth... Any ideas or solutions? My car has a little about 100.000 miles Best regards from Germany!

Jay Joe Jones yes the fluid properties from old fluid to new fluid is different and makes the transmission react differently so when you change your fluid and perform a servicing it is common practice to perform a relearn procedure so the transmission may learn the properties of the new fluid. Or you may experience a slightly less than refined shift that may stick around for a while until it relearns on its own. But keep in mind the transmission will more readily raise the pressure and create a harsher shift than lessen the pressure and soften it.
