Been using the Gym Boss timer for about 10 years now. I have it clipped onto my shorts at the hip. It vibrates when my rest period is over. Definitely helpful in managing my workout time and overall training efficiency.

I've been using my wristwatch timer for years now. Knew I wasn't crazy. Another great vid, Go Dogs

I definitely use my timer to track my rests as an indicator. I don’t force myself to certain maximum rests, since I don’t want to rush and miss a rep. But I also want to get a sense of how fast I’m recovering.

I always use a timer for between sets

Can you go over tracking too? How to track progress, apps to use etc?

Personally, I'm old school and not tech savvy, so I just printed out an 11" x 14" page with each lift on the top ("squat", "bench", "deadlift"....) and lots and lots of rows so that I can enter the date and how many sets /reps were done with a specific weight. Easy enough to do the same with a notebook instead. Doesn't have to be complicated. I know there are apps that do the same thing (like squaddy). I've found if you don't pay, they delete your data eventually... and I don't think it's worth the $340. So I go old-school with a simple page

We’ve seen your cat do squats, but I’m interested in how he accomplishes a deadlift. Especially considering the lack of thumbs.

My kitchen timer is magnetic and sticks to the rack. I pause 7 min for squats and bench. 4 for OHP. And when i can see straight again for DL.

I guess I need a timer,never really paid much attention to exactly how long I've been waiting.

I started using a timer a few months ago. Waiting for a given youtube video to finish before doing my next set was not giving me the appropriate consistency.

I like to use my heart rate on my watch instead of a timer. I realized some exercises require more rest than others. Being able to see my heart rate gives me a good indication that I’m ready for my next set.

Where or what is your heart rate when you know you are ready to do your next set?
@BambinoFilipino12 жыл бұрын
@@romanmejorado4339 When I hit 65% off my max HR, I’m usually ready to go. 220 - age = max heart rate Once you get advanced, you can manipulate accessory work into cardio session. At that point, my rest target will be 75% then go again. This is only for accessory work, not main lifts. This has worked for me tremendously.
