Not enough people saying this, but a big shoutout to the actor (sorry can’t remember his name at the moment), who portrayed Milton as he did a phenomenal job, especially the way he delivers the lines such as, “venerate savagery...”, “who made you the messiah...”, etc, are top tier acting.

All died due to the Pinkertons. *sorry if I missed someone* I’m not counting Sean, Grimshaw, Molly, or Arthur, as Molly lied to Dutch, Sean died to a different type of lawmen, Grimshaw died due to Micah, and Arthur died due to natural causes/TB, while the Pinkertons take the credit for his death.

I'm glad Agent Milton exists with Edgar Ross at his side, signifying that just because Ross is a monster doesn't mean that Milton has to be one too. In some scenes I actually respected the fact that despite his ferocious nature he chose to be patient and offer solutions to the outlaws, it could've been RDR1's ending all over again.

@@Izumy77 Nah I was referring to the amount of pressure that he put John through in RDR1’s story. He didn’t give John a choice in the matter and despite the fact that John did everything he was told to, Ross still tried to murder his family.

@@daahorse1652 But the point is that we feel this pressure on John because we see the story from his point of view. From Ross's point of view, he was just making a wanted killer kill other wanted killers. As for him trying to kill Abigail and Jack, it really is evil, I agree, but Milton tried too.

You can honestly even extrapolate that part of/the whole of the reason as to why Agent Ross ordered John to be killed at the end is becuase Milton tried to deal with Dutch's gang honestly and gave them so many chances but ended up dead. If they just ambushed them at their camp at night they could've easily taken all/most of the gang out. Stuff like that happening to your superior can easily make you go as far as you can in the opposite direction.

Mainly because Milton's methods barely got optimal results, despite disbanding the gang in the end. Naturally, Ross took the effective parts of Milton's methods and deviated from the ineffective and learned from his superior's mistakes and took another direction with John.

The problem with a Pinkerton deal is will they hold up there end? or will they just shoot you. we all know how Ross's deals end but Milton is he a man of his word to an outlaw or would he just have used Arthur then disposed of him later regardless of how much Arthur changed, Considering the amount of men he lost in his fight with the Van Der Linde and O'Driscoll Gangs respectively and then himself being killed. I kinda doubt he would have kept the deal and not just eliminated Arthur regardless of his time left to live with TB. I will give him one thing though Milton didn't hide behind his badge and act like a criminal like Ross did but that's all he get from me. He is still a Merc though paid to do a job by both Cornwall and the U.S. Government. If he hadn't of been shot by Abigail I think he would have eventually become more corrupt probably as corrupt as Ross. I think if Ross was in charge he would have gunned down the entire gang at Horse shoe Overlook and been done with it.

I pause at 2:05 because I don´t think I´m wrong on Milton. Quite some made it sound like he´s without morales but the opposite is the truth, they might don´t like his morales still doesn´t mean he hasn´t any. He actually has tonns of morality for the future of the country and is just putting his aside to make it a better place than it was with all those outlaws. Tonns of people were living in fear due to the outlaws, can one really blame Milton for being ruthless on the outlaws because isn´t that excactly what you conditioned the US police to be? Completly ruthless? The game is holding up a mirrow, people from the US are just afraid to look into it and keep hiding behind "it´s just a game" no it´s not, this isn´t concidered a masterpiece and probably the best game ever made so far if it was that simple. The game is such a masterpiece because it holds so much truth in it while still being an increadibly good and fun game. Now I shell continue the video.

Milton is one of the only truly good people in the game. Milton just wants to make America safer and do that within the confines of the law. He does have a brutal attitude to taking out the gang but that’s because they are outlaws and he doesn’t understand a lot of them like Arthur Hosea Lenny Mary Beth Pearson Abigail John Jack and Charles are good people with lives and morals of their own. However Dutch Micah Bill and Javjer deserved to be hunted down just the people who got caught in the crossfire were the ones that didn’t deserve to die. Milton gave the gang multiple chances to disband. All he wanted was Dutch because the killing of Heidy McCourt showed Dutch was just an evil man pretending to be the victim and manipulating people in their times of need.

5:36 I think it’s a mistake to overlook this part so casually, because it shows that Milton was anything but Noble, he was doing his job but he was more than willing to kill a literal child to do it, he is no hero or anything similar, he is a mercenary tasked with the job of killing the gang, not a noble hero that wants to bring justice, he also mocks his targets, showing a certain extent of sadism, I can’t emphasize enough that viewing his as a hero is not the right perspective of him, at least in my opinion, he’s a bad guy doing a good thing, and the “opportunities” he gave to the gang I believe weren’t really opportunities, you bring up a point earlier that his job and what he does is fueled by hatred to those criminals, if that’s so, why not go for someone like Arthur, John, or more obviously MICAH afterwards? If his hatred for criminals is so strong he wouldn’t let them go at all, I believe these interactions he had with the gang members were to simply put pressure on them, leading them to make a mistake that would give them the opening they need to swiftly put them down, also of course he’ll stay within the confines of the law, well I don’t think murdering an innocent child is under the confines of the law, but anyway, he stays there because he’s part of the Pinkerton detective agency, which is what allows him to all these things, and I doubt they would allow him to step out of line
