I love love loved the fresh take the Netflix version took with the material. I didn't need another faithful-to-the-books story and it was faithful to the *characters* while giving us something new. Spectacular. And also holy moly that clip at the end. Mid-90s YTV! Was that PJ Paul and PJ Aashna?

It’s hard for me to really say that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is a faithful adaptation of the graphic novels because, by the time the film was in production, Bryan Lee O’Malley hadn’t finished the fifth and sixth volumes of the graphic novels at the time. It’s very evident in how the Katayanagi twins and Gideon are destroyed in the movie versus in the comics. Don’t get me wrong, The movie is fantastic as an example of how to make a really good film adaptation of a comic. it follows the first volume of the graphic novels faithfully up until the second ex onwards, where they condense and deviate certain details of how Lucas Lee and Todd Ingram get defeated. But I guess you can make an argument that that’s what makes each adaptation of Scott Pilgrim special in its own way. The movie does its own thing. The video game does its own thing and I’m curious what the Netflix series will do with the source material. Whether it follows the graphic novels, takes elements from the movie or the video game, or does its own thing like the game and the movie did. Either way, I’m glad that Scott Pilgrim is still popular among KZbinrs and I look forward to how the team at Netflix will adapt Bryan Lee O’Malley’s iconic graphic novels.
@joseroa5243 Жыл бұрын
It's fairly know that both Lee and the fil director had been keeping in contact with each other and influenced both colectively, Lee took some inspiration from the film (most likely the sword of self love) and implimented it in the books.
It's certainly not an accurate adaptation, but it's arguably the best we've gotten of a comic series bar some other incredible ones

The best part about the development of each of these pieces of art is that they hadn't quite broken out into huge mainstream successes until after creation. This meant that the teams working on them were doing it as passion projects and something they very clearly loved and wanted to see blossom. When you get people with very clear talent that also care deeply about the material, you get end results like these. The fact that the anime project is this long after the original (and especially because they got Science Saru on board), I have huge hopes about how good it will be. It isn't an immediate reaction to success to build a sequel or cash in on the love around it. This is another passion project that was brought on with great direction because people truly love the material. That's why I have total faith in this upcoming release

This was written by the creator. Not Netflix. All that stuff STILL happened in the comics. Scott has always been kind of dopey. And we know he is TERRIBLE at break ups. Ramona is bad with communication. He thought the space she needed was a divorce. So his dumbass BECAME a evil ex. It's hilarious and poetic. It's a sweet ass semi-sequel. The evil exes were 1 dimensional jerks, and Ramona was always sort of a bitch to them growing up. This is a really cool way to promote growth and show depth of all the characters and give them room to be humans. Instead of pissed off people who get murdered. I thought it was a super rad addition to the lore.

this is a very shallow video. while nicely edited and produced, its pretty much a nothing burger and it feels like chat gpt wrote it. im just saying this if u take criticism, if u dont then ignore this. basically no input nor much research; all the info is basically just pretty random wikipedia type facts and quotes, with no apparent personal thoughts. 5:00 is basically where the unique part starts, and even then its just "same cast stays, same producers on board" (which is a very popular sentiment and is something everyone says regarding scott pilgrim) and then u just repeat how the franchise is really good. its not a bad video over all for someone who doesnt know about scott pilgrim at all, but judging by the title its aimed for scott pilgrim fans, which barely makes sense, since most scott pilgrim fans know about everything u said in the video + i never really seen people be skeptical about scott pilgrim takes off i just think it is a shame that you have such good production value (good voice, good mic, good editing overall, and the way you structure info is pretty alr) but its a video about nothing. i wish u the best in ur content creating journey and hope u will be able to do more in depth specific videos

absolutely incredible video essay. Additionally, I'd just like to bring out that the animation company spearheading this is Madhouse. I'm a SUPER big fan of quirky coming of age content like scott pilgrim (I read the books at an age I probably shouldn't have xd I gradually went on to play the game and then watch the movie) so naturally I was drawn to Madhouse's series The Tatami Galaxy which brings out all of the facets of facing college life and the simultaneous misadventures of relationships incredibly elegantly. The anime is flawless in how it uses the elements of animation to get these themes across so i'm shaking with excitment because not only do we have people that were directly involved with the scott pilgrim story but we also have Madhouse to further cement this project a step past perfection into sublimity.

I have been following videos and articles about the upcoming show and have not seen a single negative thing said about it, everyone is beyond hyped. Scott Pilgrim is one of those franchises that gained such a cult appeal that you can't even casually point out its flaws without getting in a fight. I seriously hate when people who identify with "nerdy" media try to act like their opinions are controversial and that a property is succeeding against all odds when in fact it is basically universally loved and even has the support of Hollywood heavyweights behind it. This would have been a fun and interesting refresher on the production history if you had titled it more honestly, instead of raising expectations that you were going to share an opinion different from literally everybody else.
