I was curious to know if the response timer ticks on the weekend? (Maybe a better way to ask this is - do you spend time responding to gigs on the weekend?) Yep. It’s always ticking - weekends, holidays, nights, sick days. It’s a true average of the time it takes to respond to every inquiry’s first message. Hence why the commitment to strict office hours might not be a good fit for this platform.

Ooohhhh gotcha. That is a good topic idea. I agree. Some mornings I feel like I literally can’t even get started with real work because clients are being needy. (My inpatient perception, probably not actually true 🙃) I’ll put this in my ideas list! But just jotting ideas - I flip my phone over or put it on do not disturb if I’m really feeling flustered. I also prioritize first replies over re-replies. I try to be responsive, but also not instantly reply so that they don’t think it’s a live chat. I explicitly ask clients to summarize all of their thoughts in one message so that I don’t get slammed with buzzes every time they send a new line. I focus on messages in the morning and it naturally tapers off during the rest of the day (because I’m PST time zone behind everyone else). I heaaavily rely on quick responses and have fine-tuned them to send super quick.

I’ve never had any issues with working while traveling. That’s one of the perks of the job. But yeah, Fiverr.com/support - they have tons of help pages and you can contact customer service to ask a general question. 🙃

Carrie, what if a buyer asks you to email them personally? Are you not allowed to do that? Also, what if you complete 1 order, get the payment, and close the deal. What if after that the buyer reaches out to you via email? How should you tackle that?

I do graphic design, I'm even quite accomplished having designs with McDonalds, Hooters, Ron Jon, etc. I had a fiverr account back in 2013 and just decided to start the old account back up. I'm thinking fiverr will be a horrible grind to even make show up on a search result.

Just got accepted into Fiverr Pro recently but never had experience with Fiverr. Currently, my only problem with them is their lack categories for my industry. They seem to be strict in regards to the category but they lack options and it takes them forever to review a video. Hope they’re flexible enough to add more categories

Yeah the Pro categories been expanding slowly but surely! I’ve been on the platform long enough to see that they adapt to what sellers are doing (example - I used to offer ebooks before it became an official category, but they saw the demand and tadaaaa), so just make it fit you as closely as possible and make it work for you. You’ll end up being an early adopter and an established presence in the category, which can be really lucrative. The site will follow in your wake. Good luck! 👍🏻 ☺️

You’ll need to be realistic about how responsive and attentive you can be, plus flexible/focused enough to accommodate unplanned influxes of orders and inquires. That being said, that’s true for all ‘build it on the side’ ventures regardless of where you’re selling. I successfully managed it while I was in college and graduate school taking 20+ credit terms, so it’s totally possible and now it’s my full-time business. Good luck!

PayPal doesn’t charge me any fees - hasn’t for years? I direct deposit to my bank via PayPal when my Fiverr balance reaches $5,000, which is the max withdrawal limit.

Please can you share your opinions on this major issue in the freelancing industry and how that is going to affect the future of freelancing. So, the question is i heard on a youtube video that freelancers who charge very little for their services are giving hint to potential clients that they can pay so little for the work done by low-level freelancers and freelancers who carge premium are not worth it because they have a cheap alternative. So, does it mean that freelancing is dying and has no scope? Or does it mean that it only has future scope if you are satisfied with less moeny?

I don’t quite understand the question, but I think I get what you’re asking… The old adage ‘you get what you pay for’ has been repeated for centuries because it’s overwhelmingly true. I hear soooo many times from clients that they wasted money on cheaper options first and were massively disappointed before they hired me. If those low-priced freelancers were *actually* delivering quality on par with top-tier professionals, then that would potentially have an impact. But anecdotally what I’ve heard from clients is that that’s not the case. My hourly rate is approximately $200/hour and I consistently sell $2,000 website packages. I’m proof that you can build a sustainable, successful business that charges what you’re worth and that you don’t have to low-ball prices just because the competition is. They’re not my competition anyway.
