Seedless watermellon isnt genetically modified or anything, its just a crossbreed of two different types of watermellons. Like a liger is half lion and half tiger so it cant have babies.

@ceves8846 from my understanding it's pretty rare for a liger or tigon to give birth to live young, and the males have never successfully reproduced. I guess a better example would've been a mule.

I agree and believed this for a while not just that but cant find the watermelons with black seeds anywhere in my area of Virginia. Also, I have diverticulosis, so I have to pick all seeds out and it’s a lot easier with the big black seeds and not as many either.

Seedless happens all the time naturally as it’s caused by cross pollination. I’ve grown watermelon on my deck and some were seedless.

Actually seeded watermelon isn't "natural". Watermelon is native to Africa, favorably grown in tropical to temperate regions, originally bitter, not sweet, with yellowish-white flesh, it got its current hue (red to pink) and sweetness through selective breeding
