I had a 2005 and they are terrific. The engine is high-tech, and the lack of push rods etc is important for performance. A modern 3,5 litre V6 with 4 valves per cylinder can put out up to 300 BHP which is not bad for the day, or even now. Very comfortable and seats 5 adults. They should come with stainless steel pipes as well, a big bonus.

I loved my 95 maxima. It was reliable and a great daily driver. My 2007 was awful. It had problem after problem and I babied that car and did routine maintenance. Everytime I would turn around I would have a 1500 dollar repair. At around 140,000 miles I noticed excessive oil consumption and was told I needed a new engine.
@andrewstanley48314 жыл бұрын
@@HexagonFL I never raced the car and never drove it hard. I had a 95 maxima that I hot rodded & beat to hell and it got up to 275,000miles . I was told by 2 different mechanics on my 07 One Nissan Dealer and one independent shop my dad has gone to since he was a kid that it needed a replacement engine. I would get an oil change and then not even 500 miles the oil light would come on and you could hear a tick in the engine. I'd check the oil and there'd be none on the dipstick and it would be a chocolate brown color. Mechanics suggested that after oil changes to add some Lucas to it. I had had valve covers front and rear,oil sending unit, and both tie rods, and 4 brand new tires over 1,000 dollars put on. Bought it with 88,000 miles in June 2013. Regular service always done on time and even before 3,000 miles. By January 2015 it was problem after problem.

I picked up a 05' se with the 6 speed manual. 150,000 miles. It started going into limp mode. Camshaft position sensor 1 and 2 codes. I knew right away that the real problem is the timing chain tensioner. About to open it up and replace the necessary parts. I still have a 2002 6 speed manual maxima with 280,000 miles. Runs perfect, straight sleeper with mods. I wish I wouldn't have bought this 05' but it was dirt cheap. In 2004 they started making these maxima's in Kentucky. My 2002 was built in Japan, and the build quality is so much better. Plus the 2002 is 300lbs lighter. Feels 300 times faster and stronger. The foot brake on the later models is kind of annoying and takes some getting used to, but frees up space in the center console. Maybe they should have gone the Ford route with a pull brake under the dash or something. It also needs an alarm if you accidentally jump out with the car running and lock it, as it will keep idling! For the price, it comes with a heap of features and comfort as a second-hand car, and wasn't even that expensive new. Nissan will end the Maxima name/model in 2023 apparently, but will keep the Altima name. . It sounds close to the 350Z because it's essentially the same engine! . Turn radius is enormous as you pointed out.

That's the 5 speed Auto, as you said. Its found in all Maxima SE, and 2005 - 2006 SL. The gear changes are faster and more precise and it gives you better fuel economy than the 4 speed. I had issue after issue with my 2007 maxima after 120,000 miles and it would cost around $1500 everytime. I babied it and had it since 88,000 miles at 140,000 I had excessive oil consumption and noticed a ticking sound at startup and was told I needed a new engine at 2 different shops. Some people may say I didn’t care for it but that is not the case. I regularly had the oil changed and had it looked over for issues and out of nowhere bam engine went bad.

Acura TL is soo much better and reliable...

True, but they tend to go for a lot more. To be fair tho you'd probably have to put less money into em. I'd say an accord v6, or even an Avalon might be a better comparison.

I always liked the maxima until they put that cvt crap in them. I definitely wouldn't buy one now.The newest ones are ugly.I like the previous models better.

@@dandreceff8238 New cvts are fine, but the old ones in say the 07-08-09 were known to break and be a nightmare.

The CVTs on the 07 and 08 Maxima are crap. Idk why they switched them. I beat 2 2008's on all runs. I love using the manual mode shifter on my 5 spd 2004 🔥
