Interesting. In the first part, you seem to be presupposing some knowledge of your opponent when you talk about things like "Don't let them do what they are best at." In the second part, you talk more about the way the opponent is standing, in this case, left foot forward. If you don't know your opponent, what else should you look for when trying to apply the lesson here of changing your guard?

Some thing to look for and think about is wether they parry more with thier sword or dagger. And wether they try and take your weapon offensivly with thier sword or dagger. Most people do one more then the other. Once you see that then if your sword is low and they fight in mid guard, they will always bring thier sword or dagger low to capture. If they have sword in low are you are in mid or high then they will raise up to capture. Pretty much put your sword above or below thier weapon depending on which way you want them to move it. Most people who fight squared up main dagger. Meaning Most thier defense and takes are with the dagger so they can keep thier sword free. Hope that answers your question.

I might make a video talking about which style does what more. That I think would be useful. Easy rule of thumb though. Bladed fencers use sword more and squared fencers use dagger more.

@@novacombatarts Sure, so after a few passes it might be clear if they are more active with one hand or the other. Makes sense. Thanks!

@SCATally yep and normally if you fient them it will show what thier panic parry is or thier natural parry. Usually by thier stance though will tell you which as well as it will tell you the master they study. If thier sword is more refused most will parry with dagger.
