I enjoy all of your videos but I enjoy The day in the life of a doctor videos the most. You are very inspiring and motivating to me and a lot of people watching. I am a single mom of a 6 year old son in college and seeing how much of a hard worker you are for your family and how passionate you are in your line of work is very nice to see .

I love hearing how much you love medicine and actually being able to work with people! I am an M2 and it can get pretty tough not getting any patient interaction. I really appreciate your openness about medical school debt. It is something that not many people talk about but we all have that weight on our shoulders. Your debt video is how I originally found your channel!

I LOVE you mom in medicine video. Ever since I decided that medicine was the route I wanted to go down, I was scared that a family life would be nearly impossible. You and your husband have showed me over the years that it IS possible and I am so grateful for that. Thank you!!

There's too many to choose from Jenny, but my favorite would have to be your labor and delivery video. I had always told myself that I would never have kids because kids are too much work or I that I wouldn't be a good mother, but after watching that video I saw what unconditional mother's love is. I learned that maybe one day I WILL be ready to have kids. I am currently a first year DO student and enjoy watching your videos and how much you've accomplished. Thank you.

Hi, Started watching your videos maybe a little more than a year ago when I really started to get interested on medicine. Now as I am almost done with my first year of med school (european curriculum) I enjoy mostly your day of your life videos to see how life as doctor could be. But favourite is how to handle stress in medical school and the one where you showed how you took notes in med school with your iPad!

I love all of your 24 hours as a doctor mom videos. As a female med student, I've heard wayyy too many times that I'm picking a career that is too demanding for a woman if you want to be a good mother (this is not true!). It's so inspiring to see you do both!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!

Hi Jenny! I'm a pre-med junior college student about to take the MCAT, and I've followed your videos since I first started college (back when you were in med school making videos about how you work out :) ) My favorite video by you was your med school graduation video (wayyyy back in the day) because it made me solidify this decision to be a doctor and believe that it'll be worth it, no matter how difficult it might get. I've enjoyed watching you and your little family grow and wish you all the best for the holidays!

Im in college here in Washington state, working on prerequisites for nursing, while i am working as a nursing assistant! My dream and plan is to become an advanced nurse practitioner! I'm still very open to what i want to specialize in but family medicine would be my first choice from an outside point of view to try!! Thank you for being so raw, inspirational and motivating! Long time subscriber, but first time commenting 😬 I really love all your videos, but I think my favorites were your ‘Labor and Delivery vlog’ and more recently your video on cultural differences. Seeing your human-ness? and personal struggles outside of pursuing medicine made me feel like I could connect with you on even more ... even though I’m not a mom or doctor yet 😂 I choked up several times watching those two videos because I understood so badly how you want to keep your Viet roots, but also pave a path that’s best for you and your family without disrespecting anyone. Just know I really look up to you whether you feel like you’ve succeeded in all aspects of your life or not. Thanks for the constant real ness, advice, and motivation! Happy Holidays!

And I know that in that video you said something about don t stay at the library 10 h when you only study 2h and the others hours you are on Pinterest Facebook and other stuff. Hello Dr. Lee. I've been a silent viewer for along time and this video was so informative and also shocking to me. I never knew that a family medicine doctor could see patients for many other reasons. My primary physician who is a RA and Internal Medicine doctor has never told me this. He is always trying to send me to many doctors and I honestly think it's all about makng money.for clinic and hospital. This made me feel like I've been robbed for all these years. I must say your videos are very interesting and I always wait for my notification. Your son is so adorable. How is everything going at daycare. When you described what he was going through, I had lots of tears. Honestly this was my favorite video because this was a real wake up call to me. Thank you. Happy day to you and yours.

My favorite video/s are those that shows me how human you are lol (if that makes sense) . You balance your family, career and KZbin so well but still we get to to see those days where you are tired, days when the house isn’t perfectly kept, days when you struggle to study and work ... A good family medicine doctor is worth their weight in gold! I had one that was amazing. She knew us as a family, and we knew her. She could tell if something was wrong or if I was in pain just by looking at me or talking to me. Unfortunately she moved from Washington. She had a going away party at her office. So many of her patients showed up. There were so many tears. Since she left we have had a hard time finding another family doctor like her. We thought we found one, but then she left the clinic. I have not been happy with her replacement so far. You are the type of family doctor we are looking for. I would search you out if you were accepting new patients in the South Seattle, or east side like Bellevue, Kirkland or Redmond. You are awesome. My favorite video was the MD vs DO.

I'm a Brazilian resident in Family and Comunity Medicine. I find it amazing how similar the practice is in both countries. The main difference I find is that you seem to do a lot more than us: acupunture, circuncision and ultrasound are beyond our practice here. Interesting. I have questions: how long does the residency takes in the US? How supervised are you? How does the residency work (which rotations you go through, how many hours weekly, etc)? Thanks!

The AAFP has a powerpoint that goes over the different practice styles that a FM doc can have, and the procedures they can do, and it says that they can do C-sections, colonoscopies, cryosurgery, basic general surgery, and so many other things that no one talks about. If you google what kinds of procedures a family medicine physician can do, the link comes up to what i'm talking about, it's called Procedures in FM

Thank you for this! I'm at a new DO school that is heavily emphasizing family medicine for all of us. The variety you describe sounds amazing, but my biggest fear of going into FM is that with medicine being so specialized now, I don't want to just end up doing adult medicine all day every day. I realize I can choose what type of practice I want to do, but there still seems to be this fear in the back of my head that all I will be doing is talking to people about their cholesterol & diabetes day in and day out. I should also add that I live in a big city, which I know changes the dynamic for FM doctors since they have the option of going to a pediatrician or OBGYN. Thanks for any input you have.
@drjennale
@drjennale 6 жыл бұрын
That is a lot harder. I find that in bigger cities, hospitals won’t give family medicine physician privileges to deliver. And that’s really what keeps your practice young - mamas and babies. BUT I also find that me being a young female physician also attracts younger patients. I also see lots of kids that I do OMT on.

I am pretty sure the video that had me subscribe was the first one I found of you and it was on budgeting as a med student. Then I saw Wyatt and I was like oh my goodness! I actually can't believe how big he has gotten so quickly, I'm sure your feeling the same way! I'm a Student Psychologist so I find watching MD's so interesting, especially rotations and what different areas you get to go into. I also watch Violin MD (pretty sure I've butchered her KZbin name, sorry!) I don't even care about winning the giveaway, just wanted to let you know I think you're incredible doing KZbin, plus your rotations on top of being a wife and momma. I freak out trying to fit all my studying into being a wife, working, a dog mom and then trying to fit in seeing family and friends so I honestly don't know how you do it.

I know physicians tend to shy away from the conversation on income...but i think its important because I think its a large reason why med students shy away from primary care specialties..like FM...wondering what you have noticed or seen as far as the prospects for income in FM?

Dr. Lee could you please explain the treatment you give to your patients for Fibromalgia. I'm not a doctor, just a ordinary person and if you could explain what you do for this disease I would really appreciate it. Thanking you in advance.

My bf was studying for MCAT and I was looking up some tips on KZbin...that’s how I discovered you! I liked that you show the good, the bad, and the ugly of medicine life...you motivate me when I get burned out working long hours at the hospital without seeing my family. You show me that achieving balance is possible and making sacrifices is ok. Well and of course I like your make up skills. Btw, your hair grows sooo fast! I feel like you just cut it short. Any tips?

My hair does grow fast! I try not to use heat. I let my hair air dry most days. Maybe that causes less breakage? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I Loved this family medicine video! And the one year video with Wyatt (he is SO cute!). I was wondering, during outpatient family med clinics when do you have time to go over all the blood work, images, test results etc, that you ordered for patients on previous days? How long does it take to go over everything and then make a plan for a patient?

That’s also the part that takes time and no one talks about. We call it the in box. Usually the doctor will call you or send you a secure message. Usually do this before or after all your scheduled patients .. or on your lunch.

Hi Jenny, Love your videos. Very informative. With all changes happening with D.O and MD residencies merging, can you maybe do a video about the consequences of that? And also as a DO, what does your license say? And how can that license help/or not help you practice medicine outside of the US. Thanks again for your videos and sharing your journey. I’m a fan!!!

My favorite video that made me subscribe back in the day was the MD vs DO one, I am a family nurse practitioner, and I truly didn't know what the difference was until that video! We have a lot of DO students that do rotations in our office too, and they are all awesome, good bedside manner, I like the way DOs are trained :) it's very similar to nursing, in a lot of ways, in that we see the patient as a person, not as their disease process, if that makes sense? Hope you have a great weekend!

I'm too late, sadly, for the giveaway but I do want to say that I love your so many of your videos. I'm not sure I would know which to pick, anyways. lol! I really like the one where you were talking about your struggles with Wyatt's daycare because of your willingness to be vulnerable. I, also, love the videos when you film about what you do as a doctor because it shows us a more authentic perspective of what doctors do. Thank you again for your videos. Your one of my favs on KZbin!!

I love all of your videos of course 💁🏼‍♀️ but the “day in a life” are by far my favvv!!!! Many people think those videos aren’t that interesting because usually they’re very simple watching another person go along with their day but personally when you make them they are very eye opening on the reality of how it is to be apart of the medical field & I love it ! And one of those videos is the way I found your Chanel :)
