Thank you for normalizing sealed collecting! There is a lot of stigma in the community around the topic. Ever since I was a kid when I first started in the hobby, I never liked opening packs. It's never been for me. I collect sealed boxes for both Mtg and Pokemon. It's what brings me joy and makes me happy to look them.

Thanks for watching! It feels like people are always hating on the box collection in the back of videos - I think there is much more to sealed box collecting than percentage up and down, I am glad you are enjoying it as well!

I used to have a hard time selling my sealed boxes. I found that if I first collect a full set and slide everything into a binder, I have a much easier time parting with my precious booster boxes. Set collecting is underrated.

I pull 3 packs out of every collector box I open and place them into a “time capsule”. When I die all of these packs will be placed in a coffin with me.

That is cool. Though if you have a child who is interested in Magic, you should leave all the cards to them. I’m hoping my vhild develops an interest in Magic at some point in his life. Because as soon as he does, I am gonna inundate him with all my bulk (and then give him all the expensive stuff like Alpha etc when I get too old to care about the game lol)

bro you won't be able to enjoy them at all when you're dead, open those packs and enjoy the experience while you're still alive.

I've heard people mention before how they wish they could get a box of Revised or Legends and how it would have been so cool if they had played back then. It was cool to play then and I was fortunate to but the thing is, people can still get that satisfying feeling by picking up a box of what is out when they start. Because someone is going to be telling them the same thing they were saying to me except they will say, man I wish I could have bought War of the Spark, it had a planeswalker in every pack and then they almost quit making them!

I’m happy collecting sealed of more modern sets. Wish I had done so since Urza’s when I started. Trick with ‘investing’ is the ability to sell at a price higher than you paid. Not always easy even if the box is worth more

If only sets released even a month longer then the usual, ive started buying older sets just to draft and see what i can get then run directly to whats new

Well said. Am new into the game and I would like to start collecting draft box's for the future when one day I have a play group to play with, or have kids to share it with. I have a running "collection" on the TCG player app, but I more than likely will never sell anything unless it is a crazy duplicate that I have and don't need a bunch of. I have a lot to learn about MTG, but the collection resale side of it is pretty wild, where those whales just sit on a bunch of stuff with the thought of selling it down the road, and not play with their things (if they're sleeved and protected.. and if really rare double sleeve)

Yeah magic is super wide - meaning there are a ton of ways to interact with the hobby! I’d always encourage you to play the game as much as you can - it’s tons of fun!

I was pretty sad to check Ebay sells recently and saw that the original collector booster from ToE is selling for only $200 right now. Just shows not all products are worth holding for long term.

Well said! I collect, because I like to collect (not just TCGs and sealed product). The enjoyment of acquisition and owning and being able to look at and handle are the reasons to collect. Some collections go to zero and some collections go up in value and some collections remain the same. Those are just side effects. Value is not the end all goal! In truth, I will at times offset the cost of my collecting hobby by selling off or trading some part of a collection, however, I'll likely die with most of my collections still in my possession. They will have fully served their purpose at that point.

I appreciate the data driven but also sentimental viewpoint on this channel. Maybe this deserves a whole video but: What's your opinion on the last of the "bronze era" booster boxes before Hasbro made big changes like Fire design, and collector boxes? I'm thinking of boxes like Dominaria, Allegiance, Guilds, War, M20. These have the beginnings of the commander hype but not the full tilt we've seen in recent years

I should do an entire video on that gen - thanks for following the channel! Long story short I think a LOT of people came into MtG in that era and while in the short to mid term the boxes have been underwhelming, I think long term there is some potential there
