Why You SHOULD Emulate Games on an Xbox Series X | S

I think the best use case for emulating on XSX is anything from GCN and PS2 (as well as technically OG Xbox games not supported officially) home consoles on down. I think a portable device like the steam deck or a hacked switch would be better use case for portable emulation like the DS family.

If I remember correctly, that forest area in Twilight Princess is enough of a problem when emulating it on anything, that modders have made a homebrew patch to fix it. I don't remember what exactly causes the issue or what they did to fix it, but it's not that hard to apply and should still work here.

Hopefully we can either use retro arch to emulate OG Xbox/360 games in the future. Yeah the irony is not lost here, but there are some 360 titles that i wish to play that aren't backwards compatible and that my current PC rig may not be up to run it. Like Anarchy Reigns or Condemned 2.

yep few xbox/360 games we missed from our INSANE list of backwards combat, INSANE graphics redone emulation. now that I do emulation on Series X Nintendo DS, Nintendo Gamecube, PS1, PS2, PSP with NO DEV MODE.. it works amazing I can change settings in emulation with AMAZING quality. BUT this now even MORE impressed me with ALL of xbox's emulation to get the old school games working on the retail backwards compatible.. the retail backwards compatible IS SOO GOOD EMULATION.. BUT if you miss out many games.. the series X/S can do emulation for the OG games NO PROBLEM TOO. AMAZING.

I like Retail mode better than Dev mode using Retail Mode fror months and months and nothing happened with a game pass the ability to emulate thousands of games from many different systems in and add the RGB light kit that goes in your Xbox series X fan with a 2 TB external hard drive hold all the classics The Xbox Series is my favorite console!!

@@FARASATX no if you just use it as intended....you don't have access to anything of importance to conduct piracy that could harm Microsoft to my knowledge. Just use retail mode for retro arch and buy a 512gb USB thumb drive, put all roms and iso there along with bios files too. that all what i use retail for... many updates after updates and my retro arch is going strong... now back to playing Tatsunoko vs Capcom from Nintendo Wii on the Xbox Series X.

Bro! Great video! I’ve had mine modded for quite a while now and like u said with updates from RetroArch, things just get better. I’m currently running the latest Gold update on my X consoles and things are buttery smooth. PS2 still needs work but I’ve upscaled up to 4K on my PS1, PSP, and most other consoles with the exception of some N64 games as you mentioned but I’m happy to have this the way I have it. Everything is in my internal memory and I’ve left 100Gb dedicated to any saves and or thumbnails, overlays, things like that to have it look beautiful. I guess u can say that. It does look beautiful. Lol. Anywho, think PS3 can be playable later? What about Naomi, how do we set that bad boy up? I have a small library or games for it. Currently have about 10,600 games in it.

Ps3 uses a vulkan renderer. Xbox doesn't have a vulkan renderer. Otherwise you'd be able to play 3ds wii u and switch.

I bought a series S last week just to do this, but with the last update I'm iffy about starting it. I started a Alienware Alpha with Batocera a few months ago and just gave up on it. Was hoping the Series S will be an easier option to go.

I just installed retroarch on retail mode, apparently microsoft has been patching the ability to install retroarch from the browser, anyways so far it is safe to install the multiemulator. I always wanted to play sega saturn games but the SSF pc emulator though very compatible lacked the ability to increase the video quality of 3d games, besides my current laptop is 12 years old and very outdated to emulate games from ps1 and up.

If you emulate using the Xbox's Dev Mode, you don't have to worry about the very minor threat of an account ban. It's a closed off sandbox that is intended not to interfere with the retail mode of the Xbox. I've had RetroArch and other emulators installed on my Series X for almost a year now, and there hasn't been any problems on it at all. Start up times can get pretty long if you don't switch to Dev Mode after a while, but it's all harmless. If you can, I'd strongly recommend doing it. Almost every game can be run of a USB now, so you can save on SSD storage for the main partition. Hope this helps. Cheers!

There is absolutely no reason for them to ban you. They've encouraged the use of dev mode for emulation themselves. Also, remember emulation is by no means illegal or anything, its just where you get the games from which in the end they can't tell, so there's not even a reason for them to ban you

I have a question. I recently got pcsx2 on my Series S. For most games, i cant pay the devs so its fine. And because the Silent hills hd collection, tgough backwards compatible is pretty bad im gonna emulate it probably. But i also wanna play Max Payne 2. I never bought it on my ps2. Its backwards compatible on the Series S. So i can either emulate it or buy jt for like 5 pounds when comes on sale. Ill definitely buy Max Payne 3 after playing 2, but is it wrong if i emulate Max Payne 2 instead of getting through the xbox store, since i can still ay the devs?

You can go up to about 4K (6x native resolution), but I've experienced crashes and more stuttering in gameplay. I've found a comfortable resolution at 4x native res (2560 x 2112) in widescreen mode. Looks great and performance solid.

I was able to run Metroid Prime in full HD with little to no stutters on my first test play, though after I pick it up and played from my last save point, the game crashed on me twice when I used Samus' morph ball (which switches the game from first person perspective to third instantaneously).

Yes, I've had that issue. I don't quite remember how I fixed that problem when I was able to play PS2 games (RA 1.9.12 is broken and I haven't upgraded), but try Archades Games' method for the PS2 core set up. After I followed it precisely, I was able to play some games. Almost all the files you need are provided in the description of his video. Here's the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/j2WQoIVsmJKth5o PS2 is incredibly finicky though. It's still in alpha, so it's going to be unstable and really annoying for a long time. There aren't any definite fixes from what I can tell, so I just scour the internet until I find something that works or wait for the next RA update.

Sadly, the Xbox Series isn't powerful enough for PS3 emulation. You'll need a much more powerful rig for that. I don't know about the Vita. I'd say it may be possible, but it'll be a long time until it gets implemented. PSP works pretty well though (depending on the game).

Don't think so. You can't safely turn the console off in Dev Mode, so unplugging it and then plugging it in at a different location, may mess up the console OR leave you back on retail mode. I'd say your best bet with emulation in this circumstance is to get a hold of as many retail emulators as you can, get those set up, and play games that way. Pretty sure retail mode emulators don't require an internet connection once you have them installed.

With Dev Mode, you won't have to worry about bans. It's closed off from the rest of the Xbox Network. Retail mode there is a very very small possibility. So small that you don't even have to worry.
