I just can't see Microsoft getting rid of Dev move. Developers at Microsoft are on the record multiple times crediting developer mode for the Xbox One having never been hacked in it's lifetime. Stating it removes the insensitive for hackers to try and bypass their protections.

For web emulation, I would like to recommended Webrcade. Basically it is retroarch on web. After the emulator got taken down I started using this on Edge.

The thing I love about the standalone Dolphin and XBSX2 emulators (I haven't tried Xenia on the Xbox and I don't plan on doing that anytime soon) is the per-game settings vs. on their broken RetroArch cores. Almost every game I've tested runs almost perfectly with the proper configurations. I like how you can load the config folder from the PC version of Dolphin and I actually prefer doing it that way over the UWP app's own settings. GameINI helps tremendously. I can even run Mario Sunshine with the 60fps cheat smoothly and run F-Zero GX at a stable 60fps. This stuff is a lot more tedious to the casual folks who like more pre-configged things, but it's worth it. I wish Xbox had Vulkan support. It would drastically improve things.

my main use for xenia has been playing old 360 minecraft updates that aren't available on ps3. its a nice nostalgia trip messing around with the old tutorial worlds

I can tell you why I use Xenia for emulation on my series X. Mods for Xbox games. Gta V red dead gta IV once you work the bugs out using config and patches you should be able to run mods if installed correctly.

Xenia is only worthwhile for playing delisted games like Armored Core 4 or games that aren’t backwards compatible fully like Sonic 06 (strangely one of the most requested games to be emulated) and like you said xbla games I’d much rather have an OG Xbox emulator then a 360 one though

I agree. I knew about Sonic 06 on Xenia and avoided it in this video because it was widely known, but I didn't know about AC4. Pretty cool that we can play these games now. And yes, I would also really like to have an OG Xbox emulator. Hope we'll get it one day; if people continue to experiment and develop, UWP will eventually get it. Things are looking pretty good now and just over the horizon. Cheers!

Xenia is definitely worth it for the very few working titles. Notably Soul Calibur (1) and Soul Calibur 2 HD, marvel vs Capcom 2, marvel origins since they're not on the microsft store. It's very limited and it doesn't hurt to test games you want to play.

Xenia can b useful to me for example for the likes of Midnight Club LA that is missing quite a lot of the great soundtrack that was removed on the 10th anniversary. The Series X downloads the game without the music. The emulator can just use any rom that has it (basically any disc rip)

I got lucky with dev mode. I didn't have to pay for an accout since i already had one and use the trick years a go to get it for free. I heard MVG say dev accounts that weren't actively being used were being terminated, but i got lucky.

Considering the emulator is brutal on a CPU, it would probably really struggle that it wouldn't b worth it. Maybe they might consider it tho depending on how Xenia gets on. Granted Sony might not like their games running on an Xbox with an emulator

I think Microsoft banned emulators in Retail Mode because they wanted people to pay for Dev Mode. They know people use emulators, and they know you have to pay $20 for Dev Mode, so they blocked Retail Mode emulators so they can make a profit out of this.

@@kekmemez1448 No because Dev Mode removes over 90% of potential hackers. That way, the only people who would wanna hack an Xbox console are people who pirate Xbox games. Emulation isn't piracy, especially when you can emulate so many games that are not even available on the Series S/X. That said, I wouldn't rule out that possibility. Consoles these days are so volatile, any mode, feature or even games can be removed.

@@AllieRX can’t exactly ban dev mode emulation the whole point of dev mode is for devs to test their game So they have to install files etc Without dev mode devs wouldn’t be able to make games for Xbox They can’t stop ppl from using dev mode for whatever they want but having yazu for example on the Xbox store with a tone of Nintendo games on that app would cause then a problem so deleting those apps makes sense by having the apps on the store they are allowing ppl to illegal play games which could get them in legal trouble (it would be like if Xbox put spiderman 2 on its platform without Sonys permission would cause them legal trouble) Of course you could say that by banning emulation of the store it makes them sell more dev mode kits but I imagine the main reason it to avoid legal issues

Yes! For RetroArch and PS2 emus, you have to manually set up controllers. Dolphin and Xenia should auto activate the remotes linked to your Xbox.

There's no og xbox emulator uwp, which im sad about cause i want to play jet set radio future. But when i was looking for one, i saw a wiki for Fission, apparently an og xbox and 360 emulator for xbox one and S/X. Thats fake right?😮

Fission is the official emulator software for the Xbox One and Series that allows the huge list of backwards compatible games on mainline Xbox. It's Microsoft controlled, and therefore, unavailable for public installation. We might have to a wait a while for Xemu - an OG Xbox emu - to hit UWP. If you want to play Jet Set Radio Future, and have a decent PC, you could try your luck with desktop Xemu.

Full OG Xbox emulation isn't available on the Series X. You can play a select number of backwards compatible games found on Game Pass or the Microsoft store.
