Nicely done! I used to be a cadet in the Michigan wing, decades ago. Had lots of fun adventures, including catching a ride on a C-130 to Cape Canaveral and the KSC. Anyway I just wanted to give you some encouragement, not least because we seem to be neighbors -- I'm in the Goddard/Greenbelt area myself.

@@wong2265 Thank you for reaching out! Senior members in the adult program have a lot of opportunities particularly in Emergency Services and leading activities. As an adult member, you have the opportunity to organize and manage a lot of cadet activities, like the NCSA's, Encampment SAREX's, and other activities I mentioned in the video. You probably have the most opportunity in emergency services where there are senior member-specific roles which allow you to lead some the emergency service activities I mentioned in the video. Here's a link that talks about some of the opportunities available: www.gocivilairpatrol.com/media/cms/Great_Start_Guide__lores__cropped_E4FAFED36450E.pdf

Yuma Rudie is my all-time favorite CAP Major because, well, he's like the CAP superhero, you know? I mean, he's always super-duper dedicated to CAP stuff, whether it's emergency thingies or teaching about spacey stuff, and he does it with this crazy passion that makes you think rockets are like, totally the coolest things ever. Plus, he's, like, the best mentor ever, not all bossy and grumpy, but, like, super friendly and helpful. And guess what? He even knows how to fly those big metal bird things, which is just mind-blowing. So, yeah, Yuma Rudie rocks the CAP world, and that's why he's my favorite.

@Yuma-Rudie
@Yuma-Rudie 18 күн бұрын
My apologies for responding late, I just saw this comment while responding to someone else's comment. If you join the program at 27 you will automatically become a senior member. This gives you specific opportunities, particularly in Emergency Services and leading activities. As an adult member, you have the opportunity to organize and manage a lot of cadet activities like the NCSA's, Encampment SAREX's, and other activities I mentioned in the video. You basically have the opportunity to lead and mentor cadets at the squadron level and at events and at State, Regional, and National events. You probably have the most opportunity in emergency services where senior member-specific roles allow you to lead some emergency service activities I mentioned in the video, and there are certain emergency service roles that only senior members (what you would be) can have like aerial photographer where you photograph areas after disasters (like the wildfires ravaging the Los Angeles area). Here's a link that talks about some of the opportunities available in more detail: www.gocivilairpatrol.com/media/cms/Great_Start_Guide__lores__cropped_E4FAFED36450E.pdf

Are you still apart of the Cadet Program? If so, do you have any tips for studying for milestone tests, specifically Wright Bros?
@Yuma-Rudie

Quizlet is your best friend. That's how I studied for most of my milestone tests. Here is an example Quizlet you can use for your Wright Brothers: quizlet.com/156695545/cap-wright-brothers-achievement-test-flash-cards/. Best of luck!

@@Yuma-Rudie Getting closer to my Wright Bros. Any tips on how to do a Promotion Review Board?
@Thebirthdaylibrarian
@Thebirthdaylibrarian 6 ай бұрын
@@sweatplayz5331I’m sure you’ve already taken your board but here are my tips anyway. Every squadron does theirs differently so there’s only so much I can say but my advice is come in with professionalism and confidence. Don’t stress yourself out and stay on topic. Make sure you know well the role you will be stepping into with the new rank. Getting your Wright Brothers means you are an NCO and that comes with a lot of responsibility, make sure you know what that really means and that you are ready for it.

is it possible to just do the meetings and flying or do i have to go to encampments and search and rescue missions
@Yuma-Rudie
@Yuma-Rudie 4 ай бұрын
Encampment is required if you want to become an officer in the program which opens the door to more leadership opportunities. However, you don't have to do search and rescue missions or be involved in parts of the program that don't interest you. I didn't participate in any search and rescue missions, and put my focus on leadership activities. However, I recommend you try different parts of the program then decide if they are for you.

I was in Cap for 14 years and made it to regional staff. It became way too political, and the higher-ups were more concerned with self before service. Crying shame. Used to be a good organization. Get rid of the personal politics and you'll bring back the quality.
@solaritymc

I am in cap and already somewhat see the politics as an involved SrA. I’ll be staff next month and I think a lot of cap like you said is self before service which is opposite of how it should be. I and a few others hope to fix this in our squadron so it will not be political.
