WHY YOU SHOULD LIFT A TACOMA 6 INCHES

Regardless of the bad things that I’ve experienced with my Tacoma I wouldn’t trade it for anything. I am very happy with it :)

That's wild, I did a 3" toytec and ran 285's and it felt grossly underpowered and my gas mileage took a hit. When I regeared it with nitro 4.88's I got my power back to the point where it felt like a totally different truck

@Lo Livingston lift height isn't an issue, it's tire size that gets you. I had 285x75xR16 tires before and once I switched jobs to have a more substantial commute to work I had to get rid of them.

I have the 6” rough country on my black 4x4 sport crew too. I love it. Rides exactly like stock and looks freakin awesome. No power difference to me too. I lost ab 10-15 miles per tank so it’s not bad at all on 35x12.5x20’s trail grapplers. I don’t care at all about cutting the frame. The RC kit is really really good. Keep the truck forever, or sell it to somebody who will love it later on with the frame cut. They won’t care either!

Quick question, i drive a 21 sr5 taco crew cab.. i threw on a 3” level lift but i want to go higher .. i loveee the way rhe 6” looks however, i heard you have to do some trimming and cutting to the frame .. I HEARD people do it, im not saying i believe in it; I’m just asking if you had to do it to yours since i would love to give my taco a 6” lift

@@hectordelorenzo2274 yes, we did it to mine. It was done very cleanly and the super nice and strong RC metal goes all the way across. I don’t regret it at all. I assure you it doesn’t sacrifice value or integrity. For reselling, the right private buyer will give even more because of the lift and I’ve had 4 Tacoma’s and this one rides better than any of them did with no more than 3” lifts because it was done right. (I had blocks and spacers on my other tacomas). I would do it again on a brand new TRD pro and wouldn’t think twice about it. One thing to callout tho, if you go 6”, you have to have 35’s to make it look BA in my opinion. I have a buddy with the same lift and he has 33’s and it just doesn’t look good to me. It definitely costs to go 6” the right way tho.. between the lift, labor, wheels and tires, you will be looking at around 8K.

@@garytheguru so you are saying tacomas are even remotely comfortable from the factory.. lol ok.. anyway, I got rid of the Tacoma and got me a brand new at4x and lifted it. In hindsight, the Tacoma struts started leaking and transmission went bad. Never put a 6” lift and 35s on a Tacoma. Looks badA, but I can guarantee you 💩 is going to go bad.

if you want a good lift this is the way to go. If you want to start doing extreme rock crawling on the other hand, get a SAS or get the RCLTHD ifs kit. But for me, It’s nice to take a good weekend trail run here and there reliably, and not get worried about stressing your axles on moderate-difficult terrain. Great video man

I call BS on the gas mileage. My 2020 Tacoma with a 4" lift and 33" tires gets 13 mpg in the city and 15 on the highway. It does ride smooth as silk though.

my 6in lift after 3 years shakes like hell, shook the most today so maintenance if def required once again! love my truck but would highly recommend a 3in lift. I do however, miss my stock off road 16' taco i had for 60k miles before the lift.

Had a 4.5” - 5” RCD drop bracket lift installed on my old 2015. It drove incredible well, so much better than my current 2021 with a 2” coilovers lift.

Because you lifted it the right. When you lift your vehicle with IFS more than 2 inches you need to drop the front diff and get extended nuckles. Body lifts are crap without upgrading the springs and damping at the least.

Just get a 6.5 Maxtrac spindle lift. Comes with 4” spindles and 2.5” strut spacers. You will not have to do any cutting and easy to install. Rough country lifts are garbage.

Big mistake to cut the cross member takes away the structure integrity of the whole framing, the only way around from having to cut the sub frame yet going with 6" of lift is to do a 3" body lift & 3" suspension lift which will also let you have larger tires, the down side to all suspension lifts is early premature wear on the driveline the Ujoints will sooner then later wear out & pain to having to keep replacing them especially installing them I know being I been through it several times.

I think it depends on the size you end up going with. If you do end up putting bigger tires on your truck you may feel a slight difference but I’m sure it won’t be anything drastic.

I think you should be fine putting 35s on it. You can always tune your Tacoma for better throttle response if you feel like it drives sluggish with bigger tires.

for most lift kits anything higher than 6inch you have to cut some parts of the frame in order for everything on your lift and your truck to work properly it should also say that in your lifts installation manual
