@@munaibrahim2054 Our two regions share a common history and cultural heritage, as well as Muslim communities, and Arabic is our second language. Ok, so what is the difference between Somaliland and Somalia? Firstly Somaliland gained independence from Somalia after a long struggle and bloodshed in 1991, and Somalia did not recognize Somaliland, As a result, we are able to elect our own government, and we have our own economy with a focus on trade, agriculture, and livestock, while Somalia suffers from war and instability. As Somalia still faces ongoing war by al-shabaab, Somaliland maintains a strong security force and has established diplomatic relations with several countries, among them Ethiopia and United Arab Emirates.

I live in Somaliland and we tried to build a new business idea back in 2018. I tried to face every challenge and make it work, but it failed. It’s challenging for someone with little market research and capital to make a successful business. That’s why people are moving to western just to find at least a secure job. I see you’re excited and ready to explore Somaliland. Go for it but don’t judge people who couldn’t make something in Somaliland.

I really enjoyed this content very much. It hits the nail right on the head. If only our young people had such deep understanding of the world and look beyond the glamour of Hollywood and the highly exaggerated publicity stunts, which lacks any substance, we would definitely been in a better position as a nation. We are a nation handicapped by a brain drain, or worse, desperation and discontent amongst our young bright minds. You are doing great job, my brother. It would be an amazing idea if you also shed light on the constant struggle and exhaustion that our diaspora is facing in the west: the never-ending rat race, the depression, the homesickness and acculturation they have found themselves in.

Although I agree with the main points of this video, and I wholeheartedly believe as a somali myself that we have the responsibility to build up our country native or diaspora, I can’t help but have a bitter taste in my mouth when it comes to some points especially as a native. With the way the job market is today in Somaliland I believe that it could do some harm if Somalis who grew up in the west go back to the motherland and oversaturate the job market even more for people who live there and do not have the luxury of going somewhere else to get their livelihoods. We have seen again and again people back home get exploited by diaspora Somalis who go back to start business and then fail to pay their workers fairly or/and get jobs over natives who are more suited or qualified for said job, based just on the fact that they are qurbo joog. And this is not coming from a place of malice or discouraging people from going back to their land and stimulating the economy and living a comfortable life there, I just find it dangerous to preach some of the points you have included in this video and excluding some. I love when people come back home, stimulate the economy and shake up the job market by opening a whole new sect of jobs. It’s exciting to witness and it’s motivating but the feelings and the daily struggles of native everyday regular people needs to be kept in the front of these business entrepreneurs when engaging in these ideas and actions. People need respect and stable wages to work for you in your business endeavours and I wish you all the success in that inshallah and this was a beautiful which I really loved and enjoyed. I just wished for a tad bit more nuance.

The reason why you don't see the west as a land of oppurtunity is because you have privelege, the gold (currency) and the oppurtunities the west provides. So now since you lived or grew up there you have the whole world as your playground. Lets not bash other places just cause of pop culture propaganda, there are privelges down to water running in your house that is normal in the west but in many places you would dream of. All the way up to being able to interact and practice your religion freely and convert in and out.
@dannyarcher3462 ай бұрын
You completely missed the point! He’s mentioned the room for opportunity and growth. The west socially economically and opportunity wise has become stagnant, recently going down a path of degeneracy. Home to crime and a casual homosexual culture. The youth of somaliland need to wake up and realise they have a blank canvas a chance to learn from other country’s past and present to create a future that serves them well inshallah. I commend this young man, very bright and has the right idea. Keep going Jees
@safdegfg2 ай бұрын
@@dannyarcher346sorry but no. The youth of Somaliland do not have a blank canvas because they don’t have a canvas at all when they are bogged down by trying to survive on a daily basis. Plots of land in Hargeisa are insane with prices inflated from diaspora who feel it is their right to buy up the whole city. Forget getting a house, a car, etc when you don’t have the most basic amenities. Burco has been deserted by both youth and the government. The east of the country is in disarray. I could go on.No offence but it’s pretty naive to say that Somaliland is the land of opportunity. It can be for me cos I have the privilege of a western passport and an advanced degree. It means I can make the most of it and also leave tomorrow when there’s political turmoil, but come on, let’s be honest here.

As much as I love my homeland, the west IS the land of opportunity for someone who has nothing and has a family waiting for them at home. It’s fairly easy to say that Somaliland is the land of opportunity when you’re practically guaranteed a role when you have a western passport and speak in a flawless English accent. We, the diaspora, can afford to buy land, build homes, and live a wonderful life there but the reality isn’t the same for the majority. It’s a privileged position to be in.

Young man, I believe you are intelligent and I enjoyed our video chat. However, I encourage you to not limit yourself to your tribe by only referencing Somaliland. You are part of the larger Somalia and the whole of Africa. In your video, you are contradicting yourself by saying that you are only investing in your tribal city or region, while you have so many opportunities in other Somali ports that need young men like you. In the west, we have racial issues, and in Somalia, we have tribal issues, so do not fall into that trap. Identify yourself as a Somali, and not just from Somaliland.
