Every profession has a requirement. Even in Nigeria, any organisation hiring you must access your qualifications as authentic before approving you even without your permission. Same goes to every country in the world. Your friend who did a master's degree in nutrition before applying for a job in her field has higher qualification, experience and knowledge than her counterparts who applied for the same jobs from Nigeria. You sound as if she wasted her time doing the master's program, which is not true. How she will tackle issues in her field will be far more better than her counterparts from Nigeria. I believe your central message should be, no matter your level of education you must meet the requirements of your field to be accepted to work, professional exams inclusive. Your caption is deceptive!

This is so true. Spot on. I qualified as a chartered accountant in Nigeria, had my masters in uk with distinction and still it’s hard looking for that perfect job. Had to write CIMA, a professional exam recognized here and you good to go. Recruiters won’t even flinch twice at your MSc. They are key on skills and professional exams.

For UK nurses it's different, nurses can upgrade their salaries when they acquire a Master's degree It's a bargaining tool . In South Africa, you're sought after if you have a master's degree. Lecturers at the universities there are required to have a minimum of a Master's degree otherwise one cannot lecture
@KusemeIseh
@KusemeIseh Жыл бұрын
Yes, a lecturing career demands academic progression like masters and PhD. It’s interesting to know that master’s degree is helpful for nurses, this is why people must know what career move to take for their profession and not just take a step because every other person is.

Well done for this video. I hope they all learn from this to make informed decisions. This is what I have always advocated but many students feel the easiest route to come to the UK is via the study route. They borrowed money, got here and saw the struggle was too much, then end up in low paid jobs. Why not spend that money to develop the skills needed for a suitable role? Get a career coach or a mentor to help you navigate your way. It will be much more cheaper and less time consuming. Have helped many candidates to get skilled worker roles to the UK easily because they committed to developing the skills required and work on their employability skills into sustainable employment. Fast track could be costly, but going through a process will help You learn and understand how things work.

It depends, IT professionals do not have to take any exams to qualify as IT practitioners. Diploma, BSc, MSc no degree, all can get jobs IF you can demonstrate your skills. So your title is very misleading as it only applied to Lawyers and any other tightly controlled profession. Many successful IT pros do not even have a diploma in IT, they just picked it up. Why title it with "in the UK" the title tends to imply the problem is doing it IN THE UK. Someone went to the UK with a law degree but had to seat for bar exams in the state he settled in. It would not have mattered if he did a master's first. So if you went to Australia it would have been the same, the same with Newland.
@KusemeIseh
@KusemeIseh Жыл бұрын
That was not my intention. The full title says “why you should not do a masters in UK if it’s not a priority”. It would apply globally, but my content focuses more on UK that’s why I included UK in the title. Thanks for your contribution. 👍

Thank you Ms Iseh. Countries like Africa entertained mediocrity. Someone comes out from school with high credentials and give him the highest job with no experience. They always kick the experienced person out and give the fresh people their seats. Our African education doesn't base on practicals. The professors always want students to write verbatim and that's our downfall In those advanced countries, you always go to the right places for your course on practical skills. Is it possible to get a job in UK after Masters? Can I work in the UK after my Masters? After finishing your Masters, you can apply for the UK Graduate Route which allows international students to apply for a post-study work (PSW) visa. This visa is valid for at least two years after completing your Masters! 3rd Jan 2024 That question was answered on 3rd Jan 2024 ... is it true? Wanna apply for that chevening scholarship too but what you shared here changed my thought pattern. Want to apply for a masters in computer science. I have a bachelors in Information Technology.

I think you should go for what you want. Yes you can apply for a post study visa (work permit) after your studies. But note that Chevening scholarship requires scholars to return to their home country after studies.

Submit the biography, if you don’t have social media accounts, you don’t have to include them. But you have to submit the biography.

It depends on what you want. A top up programme may not be a degree but you have to identify the specific program, go through the details to know if the outcome will be a degree.

I’ll like to ask some few questions. 1) as a lawyer; what visa then will you advise I go use to get in 2) can I apply to qualify as a solicitor in the uk from Nigeria? 3) since a masters degree is obviously not the best step for me, and I want to get into the uk to qualify as a lawyer, how do I go about it?.

I would direct you to the solicitors regulatory council website. All your questions will be answered there. There are short term study visas for courses less than 6months. But visit the website, you should find used info there.
