Great post. Honest and true and useful even for us SF residents in the bubble to understand.

This is a video I have been hoping somebody would make for a long time. Honest and straight to the point about personal and systemic challenges, when moving to silicon walley. Thank you. I look forward to part 2.

Thanks Jacob, very pleased you liked it, trying to be as authentic as possible! Also cutting through the hype, there is a lot of hype on Silicon Valley.

Nice video, I am really surprised there's not more of these out there. At some point, I had to consider where to start my company as well. In the end, I've made a weird, surprising decision to start it in La Linea de la Concepcion. Never heard of it? Not surprised. It's a small city in southern Spain right across the border from Gibraltar. There's a reasonable amount of talent here thanks to Gib while the cost of living is unbelievable. Our 3 bedroom with 2 balconies costs 550 Eur a month (including internet and bills). The money we saved up that would last a year or 2 in SF will keep us afloat for 6 years if not more. Food for thought fellow entrepreneurs ;) And gj on the video as usual Heini!

Thanks Peter, yes incredibly important decision where to put your startup. As you grow you bigger you may have to change things and move all or parts of the company somewhere else, we shall see. Thank you for the kind words. PS Going to Gibraltar this summer.

@@RawStartup Yeah I guess so. The "plan" is to eventually move to Singapore. But you know how it is with plans. No kidding! It's beautiful down here. I'll be happy to show you around if you care for a local guide. Ping me on LinkedIn then

Thanks Heini this is awesome and real! You’re very genuine and it’s the best part about your videos! Currently building a company and my network is all in the Bay Area. It’s great having access to scientists and other labs for business, problem solving, and finding the right people. But in the future I plan having all of my manufacturing/logistics in a cheaper state with more stability

Such a relief! Boy I cried with you when you went up that stairway in Kastrup. Because why the hell do we do it. Whats it worth, at what cost. The idead that the best talent also always wants to move their roots up and go to silicon valley is odd. I am guessing covid is making us question a lot of this. What if can actually get amazing talent by not moving away, by giving people the chance to work in their own way, on different terms. My guess is unlocking potential is looking at a new future. Great video. Can you make one on bridge riunds and explaining the art of value when you havent reached mass market yet?
