I have an Army Pension and actually retired at 41. I was seen as a lazy bum for not going to work after retirement, as I was so young. They did not tell me this, but that was the jist. To me, after 20+ years as a Soldier... I simply felt that I had crossed the finish line for me, I had bought ALL of my Future time from the Debt God of Life. I trade stocks as a hobby and it is a profitable hobby that I live off of it, at times. I hit my yearly target of 80% in 4 months and then took four months off. People still don't get it, they say, why aren't you a millionaire, if you are so good. I tell them, that does not motive me, I hit my goals, spend the money on what I want and with others, and then just chill, until I feel motivated to earn some more for a specific reason. I simply can not spend my valuable azz time, to get money that I will not use.

The idea of everyone should be able to do what he or she loves for a living is a trap in itself. There are things in this world that nobody would enjoy doing but had to be done, and most of these things are essential for the society to function. Think about this for a moment, then the real truth about life starts to unfold.
@gopaldangar10502 жыл бұрын
Agree. But if someone tries to get out of that then it is totally possible. And now a person with no desire and no efforts/hardwork to change his life will be stuck in that job. So at the end, there still will be plenty of people remaining to do those jobs that you are talking about.
@nhinja2 жыл бұрын
"There are things in this world that nobody would enjoy doing but had to be done." Is this actually true? We can't possibly know what the preference of each human in the world can we? And these essential things you speak of... are they truly necessary? If we didn't have garbage collectors, maybe we would be more mindful of our things as a society and hence wouldn't "need" garbage collectors. The "real truth of life" is that it is just a series of problems. How will I shelter, feed, water myself and my family? As we satisfy these basic needs, then we need to figure out what to do with our excrement. Urine actually makes a great fertilizer so water the garden with it. Feces is also good as fertilizer so chuck it in the compost pile. But no, society decided it's better to use our water supply to transport it to sewage facilities to be "taken care of." This is because historically we are conditioned to pass on our shit for other people to deal with. That's where the problem solvers come in. The farmers, skilled trades, and engineers to name a few. The ones I know love what they do. Now imagine a world where every one is a problem solver.

I was a friend of a kid growing up that lived in a moderate home like us. His father went on to invent the first ATM machines and software. He became one of the first billionaires in the US. A lot of interesting philosophy for setting your sights higher. But I can never respect someone who says "working for material goods is a trap" in this way because it's literally the thing we're required to do. It's not like you decided to be materialistic. The masters of this world tried to predestine your life that way. The context is required, and that context is that it's usually the people who benefit from your conditioning who are calling you stupid for being conditioned.
@wildeevolution4 ай бұрын
True but they mean working for material things beyond what you need or can afford.

I think the biggest trap of life is confirming to societal norms ( specially before you know , if its even true ). like marriage / dating... wishful thinking ... more people have lost their productive life doing these than actual meaningful work !
