Why You Should Play Dragon Quest XI S

Dragon Quest XI S Echoes of an Elusive Age Definitive Edition (do you see why I didn't put the full name in the video title) is a great introduction for me to the Dragon Quest series. Thank you to those who suggested and voted for it in my poll, the game was of course guaranteed a video, but I'm glad it could be a traditional Why You Should Play due to my enjoyment of it.

I owe a lot to Dragon Quest XI S! When I first bought a Switch I didn’t know what game to play as I was waiting for Mystery Dungeon DX. Then I played the demo for XI S. This game changed me in the same way games like Final Fantasy VI, Chrono Trigger and other games did for people who were first playing a jrpg. This game introduced to the jrpg genre. I remember being very sad when my time with Dragon Quest ended. Because of this game I went on to play more Dragon Quest games and eventually played other JRPGs like Megaten, Final Fantasy, and my favorite series of all time…Trails/Kiseki. I am EXTREMELY thankful for this game

I know I’m grateful to Fire Emblem for getting me into JRPG’s, and it’s great that Dragon Quest could do the same for you. Also another point in the favor of having game demos because I know Dragon Quest XI’s demo is very generous and has helped many people.

Such a cozy experience. I do feel that the pacing suffers a bit in the later sections, but I would still recommend this game to anyone who enjoys the genre.

Honestly i would disagree: DQXI S is definitely a masterpiece in my books (and is in general considered the best jrpg of the last generation next to Persona 5).

Now you can also play your first final fantasy. FF10 is a great entry point and is also available on PC.

I’ll definitely need to do more research before deciding on which Final Fantasy game to play first but I have heard good things about X so it’s definitely under consideration

Good video, you seem very hung up on weird things that have nothing to do with the game though (NFTs, personal politics that don't even show up in the game, etc). Hopefully you don't get too defensive, as I know constructive criticism on videos can sometimes lead to that.

Only gripe i have with this game, is that i think the music sucks. Otherwise it is an excellent game.

It is good game overall.But for any Jrpg player playing games on pc it is natural to work with mods and button remapping. Sometimes you need an hour or two to do that so you can play the game in best possible format.

At this point given all the JRPG's I've played on PC I can intuit most control maps without even having to look, but it would be nice to have that feature included in the port to begin with. Alas given Square Enix's recent PC port output I'm not holding my breath

It was the same case with other Square Enix games too. For example in nier automata (which is action game) it was so bad that it was literally unplayeble unless you changed the key binding.
