@DarkWatcher1494 ай бұрын
@@OscarDirlwood Is MGSV incomplete just because the story isn't like previous MGS and a mission is missing? MGS4 was supposed to have a mission to escort Big Mama in act 3 "Third Sun", but it was cut. So MGS4 should also be called incomplete, right? "Missing chapters" is actually "a missing chapter" or rather "A mission", as Kojima Productions itself and Kenji Yano (Kojima's close friend and co-writer of Death Stranding) said that the removal of mission 51 was the that Kojima wanted and that the game's story was not affected. The tapes containing the plot were Kojima's way of maintaining the usual complex lore without having to present them in very long cutscenes (remembering that Kojima emphasized the fact that MGSV was presented as a television series and not as a film). Finally, repeatable missions were also in Peace Walker with the Zadornov Search missions in which you needed to play extra ops to unlock them, but in MGSV you are not required to play them to advance in the story. All of this was officially stated by Kojima, people close to, Kojima Productions (including official accounts in communities) and Konami. If you want to believe them all, believe them. If not, continue to think it is incomplete. You are free Boss.

i remember getting this game on sale back as a 13 year old who had no interest in stealth action games or story driven games for the most part and ended up dropping it because my goldfish attention span found it quite boring. as a now adult man i find myself on the opposite end of that train of thought, not only did it get me invested in the MGS series and led me to playing all other 5 mainline games, i just cannot stop thinking about them and specifically MGSV even half a year after experiencing them for the first time, weakest in the series story wise for sure but no game/series in recent memory besides maybe cyberpunk and persona 5 has sucked me in with it’s world, atmosphere, music, era, characters, and gameplay. it all comes together and creates this perfect mix that has something to offer for almost everyone. god bless Hideo Kojjma for revitalizing my love and drive for video games that i had felt i was losing for a few years now, and for creating one of the greatest game series i’ve ever had the majesty of experiencing.

Kids bashed this game for being "incomplete" and having a lackluster story but, as Max Derrat said, a bad MGS story is still better than most, and Kojima already stated he is satisfied with the final product. So, once you acknowledge that and forget about a single missing mission and you just indulge in going from outpost to outpost clearing secondary missions while listening to the lore tapes or blasting Kojima's playlist, ordering your dog to send downed soldiers into a blackhole, having a fanservice sniper girl covering you with precise aiming and clearing out everyone for you, charging a fucking LIGHTING STORM from your robotic arm to take out everyone in an instant, then getting hit with some of the darkest moments in a videogame... man, you have a blast.
@therealnightbird82104 ай бұрын
I agree with you about the fact that it's one of the best games when talking about gameplay, but it's not just a single incomplete mission... it's way more. Speaking about the narrative structure, when a story has a prologo, it must have an epilogue too. And Kojima knows that, and 100% sure he had it in plan. Besides, some leakers found out an official chapter 3 never produced, and unofficials chapters 4 and 5 (even though the possibilities that were in plans are high). It's clear that the story of this game has suffered a lot due to konami, and it's a real shame. Even the mission "truth" where you have to replay the whole prologo in the same exact way seems a cheap solution, where maybe originally you would've played it through the real big boss's pov. Not talking about all the problems in Venom's head caused by his wounds that never ever showed off during the whole game. Sorry for the wall of text, and if there are some errors, english is not my first language.
@2yoyoyo1Unplugged3 ай бұрын
I found that Futurasoundproductions' "What really happened in MGSV" series did the best job i've seen in putting together the entirety of the plot, which spanned everything from cutscenes, tapes, and GUARD CONVERSATIONS ON EACH MISSION. Different debriefing details depending on what objectives you completed on certain missions. A significant chunk the of the story's context is entirely missable because you have to pay attention WHILE you are sneaking and catch the enemy talking or watch what they are DOING. It is nuts.

Before Mgs 5 my favorite games were Far Cry 5 and Zelda Breath of the Wild. Both give the player the freedom to do as they wish. Far Cry in stealth, and botw in combat (bombs, disarming the enemy, doing effective combos, giving a metal object so they can be struck by lighting, distracting them by throwing food and so on). Mgs 5 gives you the freedom to do both playstyles as you wish and I love it, it tales a serious story, but knows when to make you laugh, it has the same or even more amount of hidden details as Botw, which makes the gameplay intriguing every time. Just a masterpiece

The fact that Konami didn't milk this game template and made more MGS games with newer maps, setpieces and stories was such a missed opportunity. They could have kept making new games with new maps and level designs with this gameplay. The base template is so good, you can waste hundreds of hours on it alone. Also the graphics of this game. So realistic. There are many newer games with higher quality assets and lighting but most of them don't really look real. This game oodly looked like real life. The way the character models are rendered, their skins shaded and the environments just look real.

It was for the first time that I have completed one game 2 times back to back. The atmosphere, the plot and the gameplay are so good. I even got that feeling from childhood when you unreasonably love some game and just want to be there more. I feel like I have become Kojima fan way too fast only after 1 game and MGSV is not that good though I like stealth games like Dishonored or Payday 2. Will I enjoy MGSV if Death Stranding is now one of my favorite games? Do they have some similarities or are they completely different games? I like Death Stranding's crafting and planning. MGSV is a game I suck absolute balls at, and yet it's my number one favourite game of all time. I don't know why. Probably everything you listed.

play Peace Walker before Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain. To feel true pain

Peace walker was great, it had a great storyline (it continued the story of the actual big boss) and had a lot of weapons and secrets.

In your 12 years of playing games.. damn, bro. This game is like, 8 years old and is still basically new in my mind. Of course it's this or that more than any game you've ever played. Sounds like there's toooooons of games you've not played.

I am fan of snake, but couldn't complete whole game. Just got bored with repeated mission's. The game is really huge. I mean to get to end it requires like 2 to 3 months if you play for 4 hrs daily. And I completed Skyrim, Fallout within a month obviously with help of mods.
@mariosmatzoros35533 ай бұрын
Uh no, the average completion time for mgsv is 46 hours. I don't know how you came to that conclusion.

This is the only game i completed with almost no kills. The only time I had to kill was during the virus scene and that end game where me and quiet were under heavy attack. I mean i guess firing them from work (when I didnt have enough room on the team) was much brutal than killing them 😂
