This was awesome! Love the borderline chaotic nature of it. I want to play a living marionette puppet who's a Swarmkeeper. They'd just have a floating wooden X above them (a control bar) with strings attached (creating some mystery if they are in fact acting on their own or being controlled). Also flavor all the Gatgered Swarm abilities with strings and wires as well as the special mage hand they get. Same with the Writhing Tide ability could be the floating control bar could cause them to float/fly about. Casting Pass Without Trace on the party makes more strings appear and attach to them and then everyone feels like they are being slightly controlled but are using the buff to get out of the situation. Lots of different but fun things to do with this one.

Poppets should be limited to the Mending Spell for healing. With the upside being full healing/resurrection via said spell.
@Rookzer02 жыл бұрын
I aggree I think the constructs are way more fun with these spells than healing. Potions of mending seem silly but I love it.

Love the lil’ animations. Also love that poppets exist. Been wanting to make a fey-touched character that’s actually a Halfling/young human sized poppet disguised as a boy an Archfey took, stitched by a hag, housing a seed from that Archfey that drinks blood. A lil’ dead-eyes no emotion murder muppet child the party teaches how to be a person. Before the hag comes and rips out their seed-heart when they’ve absorbed enough blood to give the fey so their kidnapee surrogate son can become a real fey :)) So this sounds perfect.

My tiny poppet alchemist has learned of them having the absolute shortest lifespan of all the PC characters who have all gotten some version of undeath (Blood lords), so now shes trying her own thing. That would be making herself out of oricalcumn. Shes already replaced tons of her bodyparts no problem, so yeah xD. I think a lot of the time when we think of healing spells, people tend to get confused as to what a 'healing' actually is. Yes it can mean mending broken bones and torn limbs or lost blood. But they also don't necessasrily always have to rebuild flesh and bone (take for example the bard, who with a song of rest can heal people or play on an instrument and somehow your hp goes up. Could that mean for flavor wise he's tapping into this musical frequency to mend torn ligiments? Sure. It could also mean you feel inspired to keep going despite the odds. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that people forgot that while HP is your healthbar yeah, it doesn't just represent your flesh and bone body failing on you, it also represents your will to go on at all. That's why things such as psychic damage can work on certain creatures and even people. Weaponized Depression and Bullying are a thing after all in dnd, we've seen that countless times. (Looking at you Vicious Mockery) So in a way, the 'healing' aspect of mending flesh might not work, but the thought is really what counts, and given things like Autognomes and poppets are kind of like soul-infused constructs. It is a measure of the soul wanting to go on, that it causes them to 'heal' through the manifestation of spiritual or magical energy. Which could translate to scenes from the Iron Giant, where the parts and bits of scrap will find their way back to the body and re-attach. That's the way I tend to think of things when it comes to constructs able to recieve healing.
@Rookzer0 Жыл бұрын
I think that's a pretty accurate way to look at 5e healing. I miss the old use of constructs not being alive but magic is magic at the end of the day so intent prob means more than posative/negative/mending descriptors at the end of the day. Keep up the good work

For my next pathfinder campaign, I'm definitely playing a poppet, maybe? (I have hundreds of ideas floating through my head :/ so it could change) However, if I do play a Poppet, I already got an idea for what the character is. Anyone remember the movie 9? Well, I admit that I love that movie, even if I think the writing, pacing, and voice-acting needed more time in production. So I'd like to make an homage to that film by creating a poppet character that takes inspiration from it. Some call it lazy, I call it having fun, and besides: it's more about taking the concepts, playing with them, and see what forms.

I play poppet regardless of class, I basically never don't play poppet in PF2e. There's so much you can do with it, especially if you don't stick to the standard humanoid layout and just go for any small toyish construct. I have a summoner who's an enchanted nesting doll-esque chess set.

Does Pathfinder have anything like 5e's artificer which would give you early access to a bag of holding? Oooooh voodoo doll is a good one. I'll probably try that.

Oh. I use Wechselkind (warlock, GOO) from GH and played him like a dead puppet who convinced a homeless man to carry him around. For six months I convinced the party that the human man was my warlock, and the puppet was just his arcane focus. I fucked with them for so long, taking specifically creepy invocations and doing small, subtle actions. I made them slowly grow more and more paranoid. Then I took classes in college of whispers just as a bonus. It was the best fucking thing, because the DM was so friendly and enjoyed the ruse as much as I did, doing all kinds of whispered rolls and secret messages. The human was only ever a commoner who never gained stats, but was always kind of a coward so he stayed alive for so long. Finally, the party found out when the sorcerer did some friendly fire(ball) and the human died.......and then my puppet --half charred- stood up by itself slowly, used thaumaturgy to be twitchy and have glowing mint eyes, then misty-stepped out of sight and hasn't been seen again yet
@Rookzer02 жыл бұрын
