The Mana String mechanic in this game gave me an experience I never knew I wanted: Adol as Spider-man. After I got used to it, it was fun as all hell, between this and what we got with wall crawling in Ys 8, I just wish we could go all the way and get a Spider-Adol game. The bottom line for me on this game is that it's a load of fun, one of the most fun to play games I've played all year. It's not perfect, but my biggest takeaway with a game is, do I look forward to playing more of it? By the end of my time with Yakuza Like a Dragon and Persona 3 Reload, the game was dragging on and I didn't really want to keep playing it, but I pushed myself through, those games were fun most of the way through, but I feel like at a certain point they both ran out of things to say. With Witchspring R and Trails through Daybreak, those games were games I was looking forward to playing all the way to the very end. I don't know which way Ys 10 will go yet, as I'm currently playing it, but it's fun as hell so far. It was a bit slow in the beginning and took a while to get going, as others have mentioned. Regarding the environmental art, I think it's very well done. Not everything needs the level of detail of a Mana game, as these two games are going for different look and feels. Mana tries to be much more cartoony, which can be a turn off to some people. I personally like both styles, but Ys environmental art is going for a more realistic, Northern European look and feel, and not a more cartoony isekia world look and feel. With Ys 10 obviously being about Vikings, going for the highly detailed, cartoony Mana game environmental design would be a poor choice. That being said, my #1 criteria for environmental design when I play a game is: is the art team just being lazy, or are they completely underfunded? I've played plenty of games where the background art is just a smudged, grayish blob where the lights are turned dim so that you can't see any details (because there aren't any) and games like that, and anime like that, are always a turn-off. Thanks for the video as always, and I can't wait for your next drop!

I bought this game ages ago, but I am also Falcoms hostage. They took my wallet hostage ages ago. I haven't played it yet though. I am still stuck on Harvestella. I am sadly not very fit right now and feel very weak, so I haven't managed to play the game for the last 2 months. And I also work and adult stuff keeps ruining my day. I would love to turn on my Switch, but those dishes sadly do not clean themselves. My next game will be Ys X though. It looks great and the Hoverboard looks like loads of fun. I only want to ride the hoverboard. A lot of people in the fandom kept saying bad stuff about Ys X, but I am certain I will love it. And the hoverboard. Gosh, that hoverboard looks like so much fun.

Been having fun streaming Ys 10, and Karja might be one of my favorite Ys heroines

She's a lot of fun and I think part of it is because she has such a different relationship with Adol as previous Ys heroines do. Plus her fun personality and Cherami Leigh's performance of course

@@CommRio indeed. I think its the first main female char on Ys (that i know) breaking the troupe we got so used to on the franchise for so many years. She sure is a breath of fresh air. She may not be best girl dana, but man is she a treat.

My gripes with the combat system I wish they fix in the next installment: Blocking is too strong. I think holding block should not be a viable strategy in Ys. I'd make regular attacks break the block more. Timing windows are a bit too lax imo, especially for the parry. The way you can chain revives one after the other is just ridiculous. Revive should not have iv frames, to this extend at least. While the blue attacks are nice, it would feel way better to dodge them by timing the short dash correctly (basically how flash dodge worked in earlier games. I loved that mechanic). Holding sprint feels way too dumbed down. (You can see the effect this has at 5:08. Hold sprint and run in a circle is what it boils down to)

When the game was first reveal and i saw gameplay i honestly felt nothing at all, like it didn't look bad but nothing was exciting me at all, than i tried the jp demo and still nothing but i was always gonna give it a try since i love ys and after playing the western release i really enjoyed it. it was a bit slow at first and took time to get used to the new combat but after chapter 4 when it opens up its a full speed banger

I'm glad that the game came around for you. This is what I was talking about with the system building up though because now they'll have a chance to get that banger feeling right out the gate for the next Ys game

Adol and Karja arent the ONLY ones with the power of mana, Jarl Grimson also has it

for now im having a good time. karja is a treat to see. however....recently they announced a rerelease on 2025(only on japan, still unknown yet of global release) which i expected something atlus would do...not falcom. what are your thoughts?

It’s not totally out of the norm for Falcom as they did something similar with Ys 8 which vastly improved the game. I am disappointed though because I wish they were focusing more on original development, but I’m still reserving judgement fully until I see more of what they have to offer. The timing is awful for Western fans though. There’s a lot that I’ll be talking about with regards to Falcom and the localizations come 2025

Thank you, although I’m not worried. In my experience my videos have a long shelf life, my most viewed video ever took a while to even hit 1,000 views
