I thought these things were kind of a novelty, but seeing videos like this shows the realistic application of it and demonstrates it's actually practical and faster than adjusting back down to 1, even with a throw arm on your optic it could never be as fast as this. Not to mention the cheek weld thing I would have never thought of until I had the issue, no wonder mounting them ontop isn't as popular. Great video, you rock Jerry!.

I've been doing some updating to my ar10 which has the 1-8 strike eagle and fought back and forth with myself about putting a offset venom on it for close quarters because I know the strike eagle has 1x at its lowest setting which is good for close quarter but also I feel the venom would allow me to move target to target faster while also seeing around me better. Then after watching the legend himself say to do it that's all I needed, just ordered my venom🤣

On paper you can make a case for a fixed mag prism scope and an offset red dot- durability, etched reticle, reticle plane doesn’t change you’re good with it, fast instant back n forth, less weight and if they manage to make a bright enough rmr with tritium n fiber optics + an acog u don’t need batteries

I am cross eye dominant and I was wondering if anyone has tried a canted red dot (to the left) for right handed cross dominance on a shotgun (or opposite). It would allow me to use my left eye without having to close my left eye and use my right eye. Has anyone tried this? I know with rifle red dots they are high enough that I can use my left eye, but with my Mossberg 500 there is zero chance that without a sight I could use my dominant eye (and shooting lefty ain’t happening).
@sde90232 жыл бұрын
I'm cross-eye dominant as well and have just practiced using my non-dominant right eye with the red dot. If you are focused on the target your eyes will adjust as needed. I even have an astigmatism that blurs my red dot but if I keep my eye on the target rather than the dot, it focuses both to a functional level. Just a thought.

What sort of forgrip would go well with canted sights
@mr.nobody683 жыл бұрын
Aluminum vertical. Mine is from Troy but fuck brand names. It's hollow for storage and has O-rings to keep out water. Plus, I can remove a section to save maybe 4 ounces. But I have large hands Plus, if it's a duty gun, that heafty foregrip will give you good leverage to drive your bayonet. I've seen the plastic ones break and they're only designed to be lightweight. I prefer a MilSpec type of stock so I need someplace else to store batteries or whatever You can shoot using a C grip and the vertical grip will still give leverage to pull the gun to your shoulder. If you're rotating the gun for 45 degree sights, you wouldn't necessarily need to change your grip itself, you're just rolling your wrist

@_Delta_P_2 жыл бұрын
it depends on what you need your AR for. if you are going to shoot under 100 yards only... no problem with a dot and mag..... target ID is very important. if you are going to ever stretch out past a couple hundred yards get an LPVO. or just have the set up he has and its an all purpose rifle.
@desertfisherman113 жыл бұрын

Is SFP better for this setup than FFP? I noticed he had his magnification at 12 o clock which is about 1/2 way up so about 4 magnificaitn out of 6. but since it's SFP the reticle is still huge and since he is not shooting very far you do not really need hold overs at this close range. But he talked about close range hold overs. would it be better to use FFP instead of SFP if he was shooting at targets over 200 yards away?
@VortexOpticsUSA3 жыл бұрын
It really depends on application and personal preference. Realistically, if you were shooting past 200 yards with an LPVO you will be at the max magnification anyways so the subtension values would be accurate.

If it’s strictly an inside home defense gun and you’re not going to be seeing greater distances than 7 yards, that should be okay for the red dot.
