24 frets is one of the things I was hoping they might add on the Gen 2! I was hoping to hear some P7 sound samples as well actually.. There isn't a single video on youtube yet that properly demonstrates the 2nd Gen P7, even in your first video I believe it was just a short fretless demo with flats. So.. Maybe next video? :D

That 24-fret jazz looks amazing! I would love to get my hands on one of those, then covert it into a 6-string with tight spacing. Slap on some Bartolini's, a Kahler bridge and smaller tuning pegs and I'll have the kind of jazz bass I've wanted for close to 8 years. Short fingers are the reason. Also, maybe a jazz with the trans-blue burst finish? (Like the one on the M series)

I had a v9 2nd edition. I don't know what the meant about rolled edges but they weren't, alas despite trying to get on with it for a couple of years I had to let it go. It looked gorgeous for sure and the preamp was really amazing, but in the end it was like playing a big boiled sweet with sharp edges and I couldn't quite find a tone I wanted despite all the options. Maybe it was years of playing an old fretless bass with very little lacquer on the board, plenty of mwah and warmth that I missed. I just felt the v9 was a bit "synthetic" in comparison....but it looked good!

What's the scale length on the NK 5 Special ? I'm sorted for fretless (SR05) but I'd go one of these Sires if I weren't. I DO have a V7 4 alder/rosewood which sorts my 4 string Jazz tone very nicely. They are amazing value instruments.
@michaelanthony90683 жыл бұрын
It looks like the V10 has a clear coat of varnish or lacquer on the ebony fretboard and the blue M7 (not sure I’ve got the model numbers right) does not. Why would they do that? Would a coating change the tone? I would think it would. Either way I want one.

@kingstumble5 жыл бұрын
"Stroking Sire off"--hilarious, is it even legal? Andertons must produce more videos than any other company. If you can't find something you like you must be very hard to please.
@Todesnuss5 жыл бұрын
Have you ever considered that the reason they are stroking Sire off is because Sire basses are actually good enough to warrant that?
@v1rtualnish5 жыл бұрын
@@Todesnuss They might well be, but variety is the spice of life, and there are so many other videos they could have made besides another Sire one, only this time fretless. Like what about a Sounds Like Paul McCartney or cover on of the new range basses like the new Epiphone Embassy Pro. I didn't even thumbs down the video, just trying to champion new stuff. Not like Sire exactly broke the mold by making a fretless bass.

Great basses! Can they not print the frets though? I know you'll say Jaco and Gary Willis, but the printed frets make no sense. They are the reason Nathan sounded out of tune. You think they will help you, but instead they are confusing your ears by making you finger between the frets! They also look stupid. On the contrary, a bassist without printed frets (Ibanez SRF, Warwick, etc...) gets an instantaneous IQ boost! (Little do they know, it's actually easier to play without the printed frets!)
@billyellow48495 жыл бұрын
Absolutely agree with you, mate! I tried a lined fretless and was constantly looking at the board, trying too hard to place fingers correctly. With an unlined, nothing to look at, stop thinking and let the ears and musical sense take over!
@vincentm6145 жыл бұрын
I have a lined jazz bass and its really a matter of preference. Id personally not feel comfortable with an unlined fretboard. The player should have a choice. Also you experiment with the instrument. And lets face it no one has perfect intonation all the time. As for looks well its really the sound aesthetics are important but sound is more important. Jaco had a beat up jazz bass that sounded great!

Good to see young Lee again! I love watching theese videos, but could you, please, start micking up amps instead of going just with DI. DI-ed sound is just a bit too sterile and powerless. Maybe you could just run every bass through the same amp, same settings, everything flat on amp and just mix a bit DI signal with miked amp to give us just a bit more of a natural sound. This way every bass sounds kinda same, and I am using headphones (not high end, but not bad either). This is just an advice. Other than that these videos are just perfect! Funny, interesting, inspirational...and your presenters are great at what they do! Best regards! Keep on rocking! :D
