Totally agree with you, Matt, and thanks for the video. I use Lizard Skins for my sticks and I've experienced much less wear on my palms than normal hockey tape. However, I find that the butt end of my lizard skin tape tends to wear out more quickly than the rest of the grip, so I wrap that end in electrical tape to prevent from further erosion.

Does the electrical tape wear out the glove palms at all?

Hardly any palm wear since the tape is so smooth. You sacrifice a bit of grip but it's definitely a palm saver.

Great video! I think I’m going to look at these options for my goalie sticks. Never realized that tape is the main cause for wearing out of glove palms. I had just heard never to use black tape on your grip. Larger investment up front but saves bigger costs in repalming your glove.

Personally, I don't use them on goalie sticks as I don't see the point. With player sticks the glove is on the tape the entire time you are on the ice, for goalie it is maybe 60 seconds a game? Unless you tape the paddle for a grip, then I'd totally suggest Lizard Skins.

I put baby powder on my knob tape or trainers tape. Still is tacky but doesn’t eat the palms.

I use buttendz. I don’t mind the $30 because I broke a lot of sticks so it’s Meng fo me. I’ve haven’t used Tacki-mac yet but I felt one in my hand and I wasn’t a fan of it. I’ve used lizards skins and it fell off my stick in 2 weeks. So I like buttendz. I have got Warranty’s on them since I’ve worn them down but I like them the most.

Hey man, I got a brand new custom stick arriving. I bought a Tacki Mak from your reviews... I've previously used standard tape, Lizard Skins and Buttendz. If I do the hair spray method on install, it won't slide up/down? I thought the double sided tape/paper was needed to keep it locked in place
@HockeyReviews4 жыл бұрын
I haven't used the tape and just used hair spray for the last 10 grips I have an didn't have any issues. But if you want to use the paper than you can! I would wet it first and still use the hairspray on the grip so it slides on easier.

@@HockeyReviews of there's no issue with it sliding down with just hairspray then I'll use this method

I don't disagree with you but I enjoy taping my stick. It gives it more character same with the gloves. IMO
