I love my sauna hat, I've been wearing one for a few years now. I find it really helps me stay in for longer and helps protect my hair from too much heat. I've recently sewn my own one because I couldn't find one while travelling. I haven't met anyone else who wears one so it's nice to see a video on these

Same principal applies while working in the hot sun. I live in south Georgia, USA. We hAVe MANY MIGRATE DOING FIELD WORK. wHEN THEY FIRST STARTED ARRIVING WE WERE SURPRISED to see them wearing long sleeved shirts with hoods. Sweat shirts even. We finally caught on and fell in line. Good to have a couple to replace a really wet one.

I will definitely give this a go, thank you. So true that it is the head that overheats on me first, long before my body. This is great information to have!

I have seen this in Switzerland and had to google immediately. You do much better than google ❤ So ever since then I was meaning to try this but I got so much hair and dreads, also long so I would need a really big hat 😂 and sometimes been wondering if all my hair acts maybe similar to a sauna hat? (All natural 💁🏻♀️ )

I’ve been wearing a hat or wool buff in the sauna since visiting Arctic Sauna World in Finland, where people there wore them (for the reasons you mention). They also take a beer into the sauna, and follow with a dip in the ice lake. Imagine if that was in the UK, people would get white girl wasted on too much alcohol, then drown 😂

I tried a sauna a few years ago but don't have access to one now on a regular basis. Never heard of a suana hat before but now I want to find a sauna to try it. Looking forward to the Russian Banya video in the future!

Had my first sauna in an absolute age yesterday. A couple of hot cycles,cold showers in between etc. Sweated like a beast on the cycle home. Had to have another shower at home.😅 Will certainly try out a hat. If only the leisure centre would crank up the temp.🌞

Don't wet a sauna hat! if you do: straight to jail.. Sauna hat's are a must for ultimate sauna relaxation. My fave sauna temperature is about 65-70 celsius and a sauna hat makes it enjoyable for longer without needing to get out. Tip: do a quick shower rinse before going into sauna to wash off any dust or sweat, so that your pores are clear in the heat. If you get too hot, jump out and do a cool shower for at least 30 sec, up to a minute, then jump back into the sauna. So refreshing! Keep hair dry as much as possible.

10/10 tips! Also ice baths between sauna sessions are the best.

So do you need to wet your hair after hitting the gym, and sauna after? I’m planning to use the hat after so id like to know if it does harm to your hair by showering first including the head, wear the hat after in the sauna
@Ashenkaniku24 күн бұрын
@@FSstefan7 I've showered first then used sauna after. I found that a hat works well on wet hair because it protects it from the heat hitting my scalp, since wet hair can get the head hot faster without a hat on. Like the video mentioned, the hat works like insulation between the heat and your head, keeping the head from overheating. Definitely wear the hat after a shower if you're going to the sauna!

Hi, I've never heard of it before, but I'm not exactly a frequent sauna user either. I think I'd feel a bit silly in a public sauna but wouldn't mind if or when I build one at my house

I do feel a bit silly sometimes, but have got used to it. Then feel smug when other people have to lead because their head overheats. Its a great conversation starter.

True sauna lovers wear hats! I hope you love your banya trip, can't wait to hear about it!
@juhaokkonen13562 ай бұрын
Don't say true sauna lovers. It's always a personal choice. It works both ways. I'm from Finland. We have very old sauna culture. Sauna is actually a finnish work. E8-) I got to sauna with my neighbors six days a week. One day is for cleaning sauna. So I can certainly claim to be a sauna lover and prefer not to use sauna hat. It's used more in our neighboring countries Russia and Estonia.

Not only have I never tried, but I have never heard of a sauna hat! I have a question about your sauna habits. We can see in the video that you wear swimsuits that are made of synthetic materials. I understand that you don't want to record yourself and your loved ones naked in the sauna :) but are the rules of your sauna such that you have to wear swimsuits? Why not naked or in just a cotton towel?
@LauraTryUK2 ай бұрын
great question - it's common practice to wear a swimsuit in saunas in the UK. I am gearing myself up to wear a cotton towel at some point soon as don't like the idea of wearing synthetic material in the sauna.

Wearing hats in the sauna is very popular in Germany. In the Netherlands not so much. I can understand your arguments, but never experienced this myself. Wearing a bathing costume in the sauna is very unhygienic, just FYI.

@LauraTryUK2 ай бұрын
which country are you?

@LauraTryUK Now UK, London. I'm from Russia originally so have been going to sauna from early age. You'll need a hat in a proper hot sauna, fashion implications aside. As a teenager I wore 15 den tights in the winter in -15, because fashion. 😀 I would still put a hat on in a sauna despite looking silly and not risk the tips of my ears burning.
