As an almost 40 year old man who very recently got diagnosed with ADHD myself it baffles me each and every time again to recognize so many things other people with ADHD are experiencing, and now with you and your story! Having lived so many years feeling divergent and “broken” but not being able to put your finger on it can feel so incredibly lonely at times but after the ADHD “stamp” to recognize that you’re far from alone is already so healing. I truly believe it’s only up from here for you as well and I hope you’ll be able to see the condition as a superpower rather than a disability. I like the metaphor that ADHD brains are like a Ferrari but with bicycle brakes. It’s a gift, a unique set of abilities that sets us apart from the neurotypical which once understood and controlled can lead to incredible things. Btw I think your channel has more than proven already what incredible things you’re capable of. Your honesty and vulnerability are unique and beautiful and the little window through which you’re showing us a glimpse of your journey has been incredibly inspirational (and makes so much sense now knowing you’ve been diagnosed as well). As for you being single, “unfortunately” I’ve been in a stable relationship for quite some years now (which at times is still unbelievable to me) but girl are you my type of dating material. I think you’re insanely beautiful inside out and it shouldn’t be hard for you at all to find someone, especially now that you get to understand more and more why you are who you are. That being said, to find someone compatible is really a matter of luck. Imo dating is a numbers game, the more you meet, the bigger chances are you find your match. And do not worry about your age as it truly is just a number. We all have significantly different starting places in the game of life and where we are now doesn’t define us, but how far we’ve come will.

I won't say I knew it, lol, but I definitely identify with you a lot and your willingness to try various things, and I didn't learn I had it until last year. I have the inattentive type.

May I ask at13:44 Do you feel you can concentrate better once you have started the work after an hour or so? But it is very difficult to start OR you feel unable to concentrate even after 1 hour into the work?

I tried pretty much everything available otc for acne and nothing really worked semi permanently. As a last ditch effort I tried retinol and I was surprised that any retinol in a moisturizing vehicle (cream, lotion, oil, toner) does wonders for my acne. The Ordinary's retinol in squalane and grandactive retinoid great series are great for dry and acne prone skin!! As someone who has dry skin, I have eczema as an underlying issue, I do need a moisturizer, as my skin barrier is inherently damaged or weak, but you are right that we don't need to something outrageously expensive; I personally love colloidal oats/oat extract, ceramide, collagen, glycerin, petrolatum, mineral oil, shea butter in my moisturizers. I tried jojoba oil and squalane oil by itself, both were not moisturizing enough for me alone, but they are great to have in a moisturizer though.

🙏Thank you, Laura for sharing so beautifully and deeply. You have helped many. So many of us as adults have been diagnosed with Adhd later in life after years of struggle and self blame for our difficulties. Thank you for coming forward to help elucidate our journey. I am so sorry if a comment I made earlier was not helpful or supportive to your journey. It looks like it may have been deleted… possibly because I used a term beginning with pharma. All of our bodies and beings are so different. I meant only to be helpful to someone who may have experience what I did. Thank you again. You deserve the highest kudos for sharing about this journey.

Wow it's interesting to see the variety of HGH increases across the practices. I have typically done 20 minutes in, 10 to 15 out and three sessions back to back, maybe the third I finish in the steam room instead and have cold showers in between when I can stand it

I found a nice set of leather driving mocs with a segmented sole was life changing. Zero drop, looked good, super flexible, wide, natural materials. Wore them wherever it was comfy driving and to the office and after a year I couldn't fit into anything else I owned. Bought zeros, they're too narrow still. Splay were great. Took a few weeks in those even to get used to minimal padding and if I'm walking a lot of pavement I like my altras. Splay is inexpensive enough and had (recently actually) styles now that blend in, have some more padding etc. They're very much an everyday sneaker.

I read this book a couple of years ago and I LOVED it. Definitely recommend! 👍 Also, if I may, two other books that I absolutely love are, The Way of The Peaceful Warrior, by Dan Millman, and The Celestine Prophecy, by James Redfield.

I remember reading this book in my early 20s. I was away from home on an exchange program in the Netherlands living with a host family. I was a bit homesick but mainly, also lost a bit with my life unsure of myself, what to do or be in my life, in a different country…. The book was on a bedside table and I spent the entire night reading it. And crying. Lots of tears. It was brilliant and thought it just came at the right time at the right place. When I read it again many years later, it didn’t have the same impact. By then I may have changed as a person. I believe some books come into our lives at the right time. It had its time for me in my early 20s.

Hi Laura. Thanks for sharing your experience.. Medication changed my life. I was diagnosed at 50 You are not broken just different Medication helps you be the unique you but it helps you function in a world not designed for you. The biggest thing for me is I can now have a conversation in a busy place and my hypersensitivity is gone. (Took a while ) I went for diagnosis when I started living alone because noone closed the cupboards behind me any more. Or turned off the light. 😂I had no clue i was leaving everything unfinished. My symptoms were clear to see

One of the very first books I purchased as an adult, I read it from time to time. Ironically, it's been a bit since I have. I'm now at a point in life where you start questioning a lot of things, thanks for the reminder to read it again. Excellent description and explanation through your own story, thanks for posting this one!

I guess coming across this video is an omen for me to read the alchemist. I was thinking of some books i could read over the Christmas break and an inner voice said repeatedly, " How about the Alchemist"? And I came across this video. It made me think what are the odds i think about reading this book and the universe reinforced the message via this video posted 18 hours ago though the book was published many years ago . 😮

The Alchemist is one of my all time favorites! Laura, do you know that Paulo Coelho also wrote a novel about The Camino? It's called The Pilgrimage. It's been many years since I read that one, so I don't remember it well, but I remember enjoying it.
