The most surface problem with Facial Recognition is one will be looked at as a Criminal even if he has done just a small offense in the past by Law Enforcement. There are, of course, deeper problems with Privacy and all.

Amongst other things the issue of facial recognition is the way the camera picks up light. With a higher emissivity that occurs because of a higher melanin content the software doesn't pick up the distinctions of features of blacks or other darker toned minorities (see Vox, they did a video on it.) It's one thing for people to racist, but cameras inadvertently are too.

Well, that's already gone with PRISM in place. We're way past that now. Now we're talking about the ability to hunt down people that 'aren't liked'. Not necessarily criminals. They could just be people that 'aren't liked'.

Well as far as I heard, in China they didn´t find this guy "in the crowd" they had facial recognition at the entrance, so they knew he was there and then figured out where his seat was. If thats true, its not too much magic to it, but please correct me, do you have some source? Would be interesting. Still amazing video and very important topic. We in germany are talking about this topic aswell (but right now public facial recognition is not allowed).

Watched three years later from Europe. Still utterly interesting. Revolting and heartbreaking. Thanks you for your testimonies and your fight. edit : technology evolves, police and justice errors go with it. Nothing changes. What is scarry is when humans by sheer lazyness abandon their judgement to machines, giving the upper hand to technology at the depends of humanity, acting on the dangerous principle that a technology is not biased abd cannot be wrong.

THE LOCAL POLICE SHOULD NOT NEED THAT KIND OF TECH. IN A FREE COUNTRY. JUST LIKE ANYTHING IF IT GETS IN THE WRONG HAND'S OR A TYRANT IT CAN BE ABUSED !! THEY ALREADY HAVE SOFTWARE THAT CAN REPLICATE AND PUT YOU IN A VIDEO WALKING & TALKING IN THE MIDDLE OF ANY STORE OR PLACE IN THIS COUNTRY AND SAY IT WAS YOU, AND HAVE THE VIDEO PROOF ?? Now, many employers check your credit score to determine whether you can get a job, even if your job has nothing to do with financial services or collecting money. I know a woman who was denied a job over a much less qualified candidate because her daughter had been in the hospital for a metabolic disease she was born with. The credit score dropped because of all the hospital bills for her daughter's medical condition. There's only a thin line between checking your credit score and awarding a "good citizenship" score like the Chinese to determine who gets a job and who doesn't. Everyone should be concerned and speak out against this technology. You have more to fear by the type of people who put this technology in place than any foreign adversary. Elizabeth Warren is the only Presidential Candidate for 2020 who has said she will abolish the credit score requirement for getting a job. This is something to consider for your next President; it will be a step in the right direction and away from the totalitarian tiptoe we're heading in now.

I feel save all day long and police are friendly and there to stop alcohol related drivers or to high speed most of the time. Living like in this video it is better not to live at all.... of course we have no guns and different races which usualy makes things more pro crime....

14k views in 6 days with 450k subs???? What is up with your viewership ratios? This is an interesting video and I know this channel puts in effort. I have no marketing skills to show but if you took me on as a consultant I'm positive I could at least double your current viewership. Even if you had 14k subs I could almost assuredly market this channel better than 14 goddamn thousand views with this kind of effort and professionalism. Hmu you unlucky souls

The black person's argument basically seems to be "yeah I was up to no good and they caught me so I don't like it". Assuming people are behaving morally, why is this an issue? Isn't it good to detect people who've committed known crimes? Does anyone here want to go back to the 1800's where the majority of crimes were never solved?
