The Aygo MK2, especially the later face lift one with the 72Hp engine is very snappy. You have to be good at gear changes and learn the revs, but if you keep the engine RPM above 4500, you can race about all you like, the 800Kg kurb weight is very easy the thrash around if you know how

@jamieaygo I have a 2022 (71 Plate) Aygo X-Clusiv in a limited edition 3 stage red, it's an absolute dream to drive. It's very responsive and suspension is very smooth, extra bit of power is absolutely noticeable. Extra tech features and LED lights are amazing looking. I've modified mine with a short shifter kit from eBay and it makes the gearbox slush so much smoother and less washed out.

Nice! I'm assuming you picked this up before the Aygo X was a thing or did you just want to stick with the smaller form factor? By the sounds of it, you got one of the last batches of the MK2 facelift!

@@jamieaygo yeah I got the very last one pretty much. I bought it brand new in January this year, for £11,000 from a Toyota Dealer with 1100 miles on it. Apparently it was a show room car for a year or so. I didn't want an X because I think they are hot crap, I'm not a sucker for the "SUV everything" trend. And I prefer the small form factor. I use my Aygo for dirt and gravel rally driving, so the lighter variant is helpful.

I have despite all this ordered an Aygo X. I think for me & my needs it's a great car. I got rid of my electric volswagen E-up because I ended up hating it (it was much worse than this in interior design &space) and charging it was a nightmare for me in winter, so be carefull with the electric car hype before you buy one...

Interesting. I think the big thing putting me off going electric is simply the price. Anything at a price I can afford has about 50 useable miles of range, ha! Great to get your perspective on going from electric to petrol, which is very much running against the hype. I suspected the E-Up going electric would hurt it space-wise and that seems to be the case. Thanks for sharing!

I added sound deadening (bitumen with foam sheets on top) to my Mk1 and everything closes with a thud now and driving is much quieter. Doing the front doors improves the stereo too. I love the utilitarian nature of the Aygo, no pretentions or false promises. 60+ mpg and lots of fun. I'll be looking at a mk2 when the time comes. They're only slow if you don't use all the revs.

Good to hear, and your comment on the Aygo(s) is spot on. I am actually thinking of picking a MK 1 up as a project car at some point and just turning it into a luxury small car.....because......reasons...😂

@@jamieaygo add a lower front subframe brace too. Bolts onto the suspension pivots. Better steering, ride and stability under braking.

Mine's a 2015 model, but I imagine if you search for "Aygo armrests" on EBay or Amazon, you will likely find one that fits. Most of them attach the same way via the cup holder for rear passengers, so you can't go too far wrong.

Yeah buy higher grade versions and soundproofing works amazing my wifes leather no ignition key alloys ect its turbocharged now its quick and light

I moved from a 107 Pug to a Mk2 Aygo , it seems like a Lexus by comparison , a few more cubby holes would help the Mk2 , but overall its great [ for what it is ].

@@jamieaygo I really miss the ones under the steering wheel towards the drivers door , I kept a rescue knife and a torch in that wee pocket in the 1 now they have moved to the door pocket along with a rescue mask on the 2 , but having no cds to carry in the 2 as its not got a cd player has meant its not just as big of a miss as it could have been , the only other bug I have is that on the info display there should be an option to show the big clock display insstead of the miles per gallon etc ,, over all I really like the 2 though

Apart from the power or lack of it, it is the clutch I don’t like the most.

Yeah, totally understand that. I wasn't a fan of the clutch when I started to get to know the car a little more, but now it isn't as divisive as it was.

Great video! My aygo automatic is very slow to get up to speed, its almost dangerous on faster roads and the poor build quality doesn't help me feel safe either. As a young driver this has put me off driving on known roads and motorway runs and I'm honestly considering an upgrade

Yes, I've heard the automatic can be a bit slow, but I'm still interested in trying one, ha. I think being a young driver, the Aygo isn't actually a bad starting point but I fully understand why you might feel it isn't the safest thing in the world. The Euro NCAP rating sits at a 3 for the 2017 model, so it does add to what you are saying in fairness.
