Really enjoyed the video. Great little cars and good to hear all the common problems your looking for. Had the equivalent for the daughters c1 and 107 and mother in law had the AYGO. One had heating controls go, one had the clutch go, one battery. Washer motor, leak in boot But besides this just general wear and tear. Fantastic starter cars and so cheap to run. 0 tax and £20 tax. I would recommend one to any new driver.

The colour is king on the car. A young female driver will fall in love with the colour, mum and dad will be happy it's a toyota, decent mileage,decent spec and the front bumper repair will become invisible to them in 2 weeks. The laquer peel on the rear wing is the sort of blemish the driver will be told " get a quote from a mobile smart paint repair guy" and in her and dad's head will be a £200ish fix as a birthday/ graduation present. You’ve done the right thing. The thing that gets lost generally in the valuation is time, which is also money. You sell a call that’s mechanically sound, the body condition 95% and you make the same profit (on paper) than making it 100% mint. You’ve made more money this way, without compromising the mechanical quality. Win win!

My decision was between a 2012 Toyota Aygo and a basic 2012 VW up! (take up!) with hail damage and I have decided for the up!, because at 101,000 km it had done 120,000 km less than the Aygo for the same price. In the first year of ownership, I only had to replace the rear brake pads and the V-belt, otherwise a reliable little car. Perfect for the 17,000 km I drive in a year. It's a bit spartan with regard to the equipment, but if you want to get to work as cheaply as possible, this is the right car for you with 64 MPG.
@carukchannel2 жыл бұрын
Sir prizse my 2nd option for a small reliable car would be the UP, they are just a little more expensive than a aygo but are 100% a decent cheap reliable car and will offer real value in the coming years . Love a bit of 'car trader slang'. Worked in an MG/Rover dealership in late 90s, early 2000s, and often made calls along the lines of "it's got a bit of leg on it, but all the stamps. New ticket, 6 months rent, new boots, hole in the roof, power, air, electric, hyde, bag of wind, and tunes & turns" when trading out part exchanges we didn't want to retail. Translation: High mileage, but full service history. New MOT, 6 months road tax, new tyres, sunroof, power steering, air conditioning, electric windows, leather seats, air bag, and radio & CD player". It was just the means to an end for me in those days, but looking back I don't half miss them. Smoking about in old Granadas and Rover 800s was great fun. Best trade in ever was a last of line Rover SD1 Vitesse V8 in near perfect condition against a new Rover 75 V6. He must have been mad, but he made my day. That car was awesome.

agreed Lee. leave the paintwork alone, sort the tyre and exhaust, maybe a new 12 month ticket, wash & valet and move it on. the buyer could keep an eye out for an in-colour bumper and swap it themselves to improve the value of their purchase down the line. in a pricey market you don't want to sit on stock, when the market snaps back you could end up losing money.

As someone who has ended up spending far too much on making cars as mint as possible, only for it to be essentially a waste of time/money/effort at the end I'd have done the same as you. It's a decent car - it'll probably be a first car for someone in truth so an iffy bumper really doesn't matter. If it were a more high end car then you can argue it's worth making as good as it can be but on a little hatchback it isn't worth it.

I felt terrible that I hadn't noticed because I really do try to keep my cars maintained, but the little thing had been going along with absolutely no sign of a problem, no smoke, no weird noises, nothing. Put a gallon of oil in, light went off and no sign it was worse for wear. If they made a 4 wheel drive version, that thing would go up everest.

Am I the only one who sees this as the modern equivalent of the VW beetle? It's cheap, relliable and popular. Parts are also cheap and readily available. They're easy to work on too because they're just so simple. I think the most complicated part is the variable valve timing but even that is generally relliable. I've heard a few people have issues with the timing chain tensioners but that is pretty common on most cars with timing chains. I need to replace the valve cover seal on mine with 105,000 miles. It's only a seep but gives me a good excuse to have a feel of the timing chain tension and potentially check valve clearances which I skipped on the service interval as I've never had the valve cover off.

The good thing about this model is the fact that you can buy them cheap with Shtroen or Peugeot badge without worrying about reliability since they are all Toyota designed. "The main difference between the Aygo and its French siblings are badging, rear side windows, steering wheel, and the easily recognizable front and rear treatments."

This is best smallest car I like We driven one this before, from U.K. to france Germany Netherland Belgium Denmark and back to U.K. for 8 years. And no problem at all. Just do basic regular maintenance. Regular change oil and filter Change every 6 months Tire Coolant Filter valves cleaning Brakes and tires Still running like brand new. Sadly we changed it to Toyota hybrid. Because for more range space and best gas mileage. My previous Toyota aygo is 60-70mpg. But this new hybrid 55-65mpg But has a long range of approximately 470 miles. This the best for long drive From U.K. to Norway Sweden and Finland for next year.

I came here, whilst looking for something else, as I have just brought a Toyota Yago. It’s not the first car in this model that I have heard. I had a citron C1 but someone run into that and totalled it it was parked I wasn’t in it. So I thought once I’ve got the insurance, it was best to go back and get the same car couldn’t find a C1 in a 14 plate so opted for the better option with a Toyota badge. Only cost me £3400. Only has 39,500 miles on the clock. Must’ve been driven by an old lady it did have one lady driver before me. When I checked the last service, it is recently had a new clutch and four new tires. So really, this is a bargain. Yes it was a good idea just to leave that car exactly how it was. No need to respray or paint.

I've owned this very same car (2012 Aygo fire) since 2014. I bought it with 10,000 miles for £5,450... 8 years later with 102,000 miles on the clock now and it still runs great. The weakest point of this car for me is the exhaust system.... I'm on my 3rd rear muffler and had to replace the center pipe once so on the 2nd center pipe. I coated my muffler in silver exhaust paint before I fitted it so hopefully it'll last a bit longer. Just wish I'd thought to so the same with the center pipe! Its a bit of a family tradition to own cars until they die in my family, my uncle used to have a Ford Granada with 300,000 miles. I'm hoping my Aygo lasts that long to dispell the myth in my family that small engines won't last. I under body the seal the car with waxoyl based paint every year in areas that look like they could be problematic before and after winter, To hopefully prevent any issues arising.
@carukchannel2 жыл бұрын
sounds like your taking good care of it, key points we see on the mot corrosion wise is the rear sills and inner arch area, hit them hard with some sort of protection like your doing and it should keep the nasty stuff away for long time. Your right about the exhaust back boxes we do change a lot of them, the engine produces a lot of water and seems to break the internals and rot out very quickly, however £60 for a backbox is not the end of the world. thanks for watching michael and the comment 👍

Aygo actually often just come with one key, I found that out when searching around since all I was intrested in just had the one key. Strange standard but for Aygo apparently it's a thing. At least in Sweden.

I did have a Citroen c1 and loved it so much that I went and brought an aygo when the Citroen went, (got written off as drunk driver crashed into it) as a new driver or something cheap and gets you from a to b, it’s brilliant, never had any issues with either cars. Most people my age want big flashy cars, lots of power, but I just want something that gets me to where I need to go, and it’s cheap as chips to run and tax too. Like I don’t need to have lots of power or all the mod cons as at the end of the day I’m driving and concentrating on the road, why should I spend a lot of money on a car that has lots of electrical things and has more power, when it’s just more things that could go wrong and could be costly to repair, at the end of the day all the cars do the same things, which is drive. Would always recommend this little bugs. Also, the groups and chats on Facebook always have answers to any questions of these cars.
