Why you shouldn't drift at a Track day

Both drivers were aware of each other, this was a closed course, please drive responsibly on public roads, and respect all rules on and off the track

Haha yeah was interesting watching him go, but he really wasn’t getting into the drifts as much as a car that is weighted better could. He had fun, but he still has mirrors and should have let the other pass, especially when he was going slow as balls compared to most guys I watch. Good vid though

Vid handbrake really isn't necessary to initiate a drift. All you need to do is what he did, using a flick and the brakes to weight the car so that it flicks around.

This has nothing to do with "drifting at a track day". This has to do with being respectful and mindful of others on the track. It's really no fun being stuck behind a slow car but that is true regardless of what that driver is doing. In this case the drifting S2k guy is an asshat but there's also no shortage of hpde champions with their holier than thou attitude that won't let faster guys by. Bottom line, don't be an asshat.

I'm tempted to bring my Grand Marquis to a track someday just to see what it can do. It's a two ton land yacht, but it's got decent high end acceleration for its size. It doesn't do drifts well either with my new tires so I'd probably be constantly waving people past. I'd have to have the ECU reprogramed to allow for higher speed.

There was a slick looking S2000 at Japanese national time attack a couple of weeks ago, nice carbon wing canards, Splitter, super sticky tyres... He lost ot me in an N/A 300 zx with a 178,000 kms and apparently a blown head gasket... The car isn't that good.
