I streamed on TikTok a lot doing a cooking show. Started livestreaming around February 2023, exploded to 23.8k followers until I was permanently banned in December 2023 for “being too sexy”. They kept giving me the most random bans for little things that I’ve seen so many people do, like dancing or talking about adult topics that were allowed, but not for me. The thing is, my growth and compensation completely declined when the NPC trend started. I was trying to keep up but I just hated myself. I’m singing, doing comedy, dancing, and cooking, but I couldn’t compete with gang gang. It sucked my soul out. The ban was a relief and I’m just moving on.

I 100% agreed with you. I tried few times livestreaming there, and I really hate the audiences there. They often wanted to "troll" by spoiling the game and all, and the moderation tools is a bit confusing too. Also agreed on they really wants your attention. If you ignore them or late replying their question, they won't be there anymore. Also all the "Diamonds" and stuff is not worth it. I got like not even $2, and the amount of diamonds was like hundreds etc.

I have been streaming on TikTok for a long time now, simultaneously on Twitch, using a stream key. What I've noticed is that if you don't bring something that is remotely interesting, tiktok doesn't push the content to ANYONE. For example, just chatting is pushed to zero people unless you do live from your phone, whereas a new or curious video game is sent to anyone. In the past, for example, I took the video game SCORN to launch and TikTok pushed my live to an international level (I am Italian) and people came from all over the world. The same happens to me constantly with the video game ONCE HUMAN. As soon as I bring anything else, literally zero.

TikTok in general is a waste for anyone putting in even a smidge of effort IMO. Im not a content genius by any means but I’ve put time in and edited clips and get hardly any views, yet someone just records their wife farting uploads and they are suddenly viral 😂

One of the worst things on tiktok is really the 'ai interaction' trend where people talk like a robot or AI and just repeat a bunch of phrases depending on the gifts you give them. It's kinda like those old street performers that do a trick or dance depending on how much you tip them or even the dancing clowns.

Yes!! That freaking app is disgusting, dehumanizing and made to wash out your brain :) I used it for a month whgen starting content creation and i wanted to punch my monitor out every time i opened it with its autoplay feature, i get deeply annoyed with shorts, tiktoks, and people making those. The saddest part is it got this big, which makes me lose hope in humanity as it is mostly braindead. Stay true Nutty!

TikTok streaming has been a fun time. I got my Live access at 1000 and then quickly pivoted to an agency to get a stream key because I strongly disliked their native app. Definitely be mindful of your behavior on there. Nutty wasn’t joking when he said its algorithms, especially their content moderation, is STRICT. I *only* sim race and was briefly banned for saying a car series name on iRacing.

Yea TikTok live is much different. treat it like a FaceTime call. Stream from your phone. Interaction and responding is huge. Yes they do monitor talking, Don’t mention external websites or you will get streaming violations. But I have way more fun on TikTok. I like how they serve livestreams better than KZbin. It’s hard to have catchy thumbnails for live video.

I agree with you having multistreamed on twitch & tiktok in the last months (it's my full time job) i can confirm it's mainly pointless. Altough everytime some new people come i tend to ask them if they came from twitch feed/research, tiktok or my youtube videos and i still get tiktok as answer sometimes. Therefore i just use it as "discoverability" like they see my tiktok, they see im live and if they are into the game or me a lot, they will come over to twitch. I tend to be responsive on tiktok, but sometimes i just get lost because of the way lesser chat and that leads to the people going away without even giving me one minute to answer. I think low effort might help, high effort not so much

do NOT get Windows 11 if you stream. It limits FPS of minimized apps to 10, so if you have anything that you use on your streams that needs to be minimized, it'll look like a slideshow. It's also NOT possible to change this, even through RegEdit.

I've noticed in the video you didn't mention streaming to Facebook / Instagram. Is this because you feel like they aren't even worth mentioning or just a completely other topic? PSA I multi stream to KZbin and Twitch, I have 11k followers on Instagram but for some reason I cannot get a stream key for it and am restricted to going live on my mobile which is absolutely not an option for me while Live on my PC. Can't really find any helpful info about getting an IG stream key but I think it's just glitched out on my end. Either way, thank you for the great info with TikTok streaming!

I got lifetime banned from tiktok live while playing baldur's gate 3 two seconds after a cutscene with the no nudity option on. Luckily I was able to appeal it but I went from a few thousand live views each stream to 5 ever since. 😑

Tiktok has a different ballpark compared to Twitch. From my understanding it pushes more people who streams directly from their phone compared in desktop. Different kind of short-term attention span of an audience too in that platform.

I think your dead on to be honest. I have been messing with TT for almost a year now. That garbage that you showed we are competing with is so dead on an TT freakin loves them sending 1000 and 1000s of people. I streamed for 2.5 hrs with their studio and it was significantly lower views I cant imagine how suppressed it would be with OBS. It allowed 27 people to find me in that entire time. Maybe they are catering to a dumbed down society which would explain why people are so ****** to even watch that crap. I wonder, is it TT or the people they are catering to for so many to stay on those pages. Either way Im looking for a new platform after being loyal to TT for so long. Ive never gotten anywhere. But also my content is for a specific crowd, so I expected it to be difficult which is why I stuck around so long but Im pretty much over it. Aside from that, tiktok viewers not only want instant recognition but can also be incredibly rude, especially by the vast majority of underaged viewers. A while ago I was in a gaming livestream of a man who is paralyzed from the neck down. You won't believe the amount of insults or offensive messages in the chat. Add to that what you shared in this video and it's safe for me to say I won't be going live on tiktok anytime soon.

3 months with carter pulse. I took a week or two off for family issues, they dropped me. I gave up. The attention it requires is not worth it. Focus on growing your twitch/youtube/kick communities and put out good tiktok content (the old fashioned tiktoks, not live) that you can share elsewhere also.

Alright so to note; 1) Yep, The Platform is different. Same way creating videos for TT vs YT is different, so are the lives. Simulcasting to it rather than YT is probably a waste of time depending on the game you play. The engagement style, speed and style are all totally different. 2) You don't need to go on the mobile app to get a key, you can do it via desktop, but you do need a new key every time - which is a small annoying copy paste. 3) Your streams are not penalized by the algorithm via all my tests. There is (as of now) no push to Studio. However that may change soon as their compatibility mode may hint at them pushing browser. 4) TT doesn't punish you for mentioning multi streaming BUT- you damn sure will lose viewership if you make your live seem like an afterthought (which is what happens usually) 5) The Detection an age flagging is very aggressive - hence you'll hear people either swearing less or... changing trigger words like death to unalive 6) Gaming is the fastest growing stream category (at least in AUS currently) and you USUALLY wont be competing against random battle streamers - the algo is pretty good at tuning what people want Your ultimate take that you have to approach it differently is spot on!

I don't feel like there are organic opportunities there and it's super obfuscated on if interaction affects your views or even what best practices are at points. It's weird over there; simply weird.

I still haven't touched the go live features; personal bandwidth thing. been trying different approaches following their creator guides. If you have any actual tips (something that you've used that has receipts) I'd love to hear what's worked for you. Lets build community and good spaces and not punch down with picked language though (less assumptions that everyone knows what you feel you know).

In fact, the number of viewers and the streaming tool are not related. The only factor that matters is the content. TikTok treats high-quality and interactive content equally and will prioritize it for recommendation. However, as of now, all non-gaming content streamed through PC will be suppressed, including OBS and TikTok LIVE Studio. This issue will be resolved in early 2024.
