I live in Mexico and my family tried out a Sam's Club membership for a year. We bought cottage cheese a couple of times, the problem was every other item was identical to what you could buy in Walmart at a better price, the only thing that made it worth it was that I got a Huffy 26" women's mountain bike for about $70 USD. Which was the best deal I've ever seen on a bike, but I only need one cheap bike every so often, so we didn't renew our membership.

I've worked in cat rescue for 15 years now, and I specifically joined Costco because others in rescue told me that their Kirkland brand dry cat food (purple bag- 16 lbs II think) is VERY high quality cat food. It cost more than what I used to buy, but I noticed the cats ate less, because (I think) it's not full of fillers, etc. No food dye either. My foster cats took right to it, and it's the most popular dry food in the house. (I STILL buy other kinds. My cats get to choose from FOUR kinds of dry cat food, 24/7, all in large pans. Plus they get wet food (canned Friskies) twice a day. And, no, I have NO fat cats. All healthy). I was buying their brand name cat litter, too, but they've discontinued it. It was cheap at 8.99 (i hink) for 35 lbs. THAT has been really a bummer.

@HowieHal 5 жыл бұрын
Their refund policy is brilliant because they make sure the manufacturer will give Costco full credit back. That is the only reason your not given a more difficult time on your returns. It's absolutely disgusting how many people take advantage of this policy and think they outsmarted Costco employees. Yes they will take back the movies you have watched and meat you ate and said that you threw out. They will let you try and return merchandise that was not even purchased there and upgrade your TVs. (Finally changed electronics policies after unbelievable B.S. returns for years). They will return your money as you lie about why things don't work right. However you will keep going back and spending way more than you thought you would. They got you. Like giveaways at casinos. "Just when you think you got them you realize, they got you" Costco is brilliant. Fyi, to those people that return stale bread on the reg and return garbage all the time......you are the people that are talked about and laughed at in the break rooms. They see you coming and laugh. Let's see what this guy has for us today.....lolol.

Howie Busse lol I don’t think you are going to discourage people who make ridiculous returns by telling them employees laugh about them in the breakroom. Not always. Sometimes things are on sale elsewhere and are a better price than at Costco. So you keep informed of the weekly deals in your area. That said, Costco is a consistently good value. Return policy is great too. Plus, they'll do a price adjustment if the price drops in the 30 days after you buy something. I got back too adjustments recently, $50 each (plus tax) for the TV and surround sound system that I bought (and the prices were already really good).

I also think what sets Costco apart is the memories that you make while you're there. My father used to take me when I was a kid and being able to have free samples, run around, read books, and eat pizza made going to Costco a fun family outing. As an adult, I feel nostalgic when I go back to the same location I went to as a kid. There are some workers that have been there since I was a kid. Thats over 20 years. That tells you a lot about how the workers are treated.

@Trinder3467 Costco makes the majority of its money on memberships, not food or gas. If you actually compare the price per kg or lb, it'll be less than most supermarkets besides Walmart. It's also obvious when it comes to service. Costco charges $45 for a full tire change with balancing, everywhere else is $100-$150. Your shoe example isn't applicable in this case. That's like saying a pair of Gucci $3k shoes are going to last substantially longer than a nice pair of $200 branded shoes. Simply not the case. Neither is spending $75k on an electric car and using 'gas' savings to justify the price.

I grew up on the west coast and moved to the mid-atlantic/midwest region a few years back. I drive two hours to costco on my monthly trip. It's still worth it to drive to costco vs the 30 mins to sams club. I buy from people who treat their employees well, offer great products and stand behind everything they sell. Bought my wife's wedding ring at costco and got a heck of a deal that I wouldn't have been able to afford elsewhere. I catered my own wedding with meat from costco. Got all the dinnerware from costco for the reception. I wear mostly clothing I buy at costco. I get my moneys worth out of my membership and it allows me to afford things I wouldn't otherwise be able to.

I shop at Costco. great deals & I don't overbuy. I have a list & stick to it. Replacing four tires was a good deal with a great guarantee.Also, I researched slice turkey & found Costco price was the best.

Peppie Tandhasetti You’ve pretty much hit the keys to shopping at Costco. One thing I have to add is sharing a membership. Two people, two addresses, two Costco cards, one membership makes for a good deal to me. Also, there are people out there that publish Costco price lists, updated every few months. It’s a great thing that makes comparing prices easier.

It is one of the few stores I do not mind spending a lot of money as I LOVE that they pay their employees a living wage and give them great benefits. They treat their employees well and that is all I need to know. I also love that they carry items from small companies, not just Kraft and Nestle.

I only go there to buy gas, rotisserie chicken, certain items that i want only when they are on sale and a hot dog and pop at the food court for $1.50. They send me a monthly booklet of all items on sale that month. Eventually all the standard items go on sale so you just wait for it and stock up that month. The gas alone is worth the membership fee. I use my Costco credit card for all my purchases in an out of Costco and pay off every month. This February I will receive over $400 in rewards cash. That is basically free money. You have to be smart about how you use your Costco membership. Don't buy impulse items and compare prices.

People are ridiculous. I buy what I need - water, muscle milk, Kirkland brand vitamin water, paper towels, mixed unsalted nuts, napkins, freezer bags and salmon that I cut up into several pieces and freeze. If you keep to your list, you do not need to go crazy and overspend. The occasional batteries, wash cloths, etc. are good too.

We are three generations of Costco shoppers! I love the quality and value of their merchandise!!! We've been shopping there since it was Price Club, then Price/Costco! All of my household paper goods come from Costco, from back when we were a family of six, now to it just being my dog and I, lol. Their regular house brand dog food is always rated as one of the best premium dog foods there is. I could go on and on about how awesome they are, but the new coupon sale started today so I'm heading there now. :-)

I’m a Costco customer because they have great prices on all their organic items (produce, pantry supplies and frozen fruits/veggies). Initially, I was doing the majority of my produce grocery shopping at Whole Foods but after checking out Costco’s organic items, I made the switch. I still need to supplement with Whole Foods, but it’s more like 2/3’s Costco and /3 Whole Foods. Keep up the good job, Costco!

I’m watching this video in the middle of coronavirus pandemic which everybody have to stay home. And I’m so happy that I enrolled to costco membership 2 months before this pandemic. During the pandemic, buying in bulk is really a good thing to do because almost all of the store have a long line due to social distancing.
@mikecole1664

It's not ALWAYS cheaper to purchase in bulk at Costco. You have to do the math. On MANY items you can do better buying BOGO/Sales at the Grocery store. And you can purchase as much as you need. For example: Paper plates were twice as much at Costco compared to a BOGO sale at Publix (here in the Southeast).
