Very good advice. My mindset for every game is to be me, not him but me. For years I’ve just been a 3 and D type of player nothing wrong with it but I wanted to further develop my game to where I’m not so one dimensional. So I developed a post game since most people make their guards with low strength and to create my own shots. The theater helped big time with that. My goal in theater is not to win but to fine tune my game. I struggle in 1v1 cause I’m slower and everyone runs around me buts ok that’s not what I’m striving for. I’m good in rec/proam but suck in 1v1

@@luckyzcorner exactly! It’s more simplified approach to being efficient. Since every guard and their momma wants to get all of the playmaking, shooting, and finishing they possibly can with a steep cost they are helpless defending my post game so I become the focal point when I get that mismatch. Then one of the bigs will come sprinting down like he is Mel Gibson on braveheart but hey post playmaker it’s either an easy dot to the perimeter or an oop to my big

This is very reminiscent of an Agent00 vid I seen years ago with 2k20 that changed my perspective of shooting in 2k. Instead of just wasting time looking at jump shot videos and getting mad at it not working the simple advice he had was just keep using it until you get it down perfect. Something as simple as practice and not getting mad that it isn’t going in is the perfect way to go. Great vid and have a good day

My best advice to people that lack the talent/IQ to play PG or Center is to make a pure lock down build (SF/PF) that has a high enough midrange or three to unlock Tracy McGrady base and just enough finishing to score off of directed cuts to the basket.

I didnt hear you mention this but PGs, you need to understand the ball isnt YOUR baby. Every play doesnt need to end off of your assist. Move the ball unless youre a lethal unguardable player. Slowing the offense because youre assist hunting also destroys the offense. 2. 3s are worth more than 2s. I get it. Go crazy and score how you can. But if you taking 12 dunks and ignoring wide open shooters, you are hurting the offense. The other team is going to get 3s up. And unless yall shut them down, you're putting your team in a low scoring game 3. Put some damn defense on your build. Who cares you average 20 when your matchup scores 25 and forcing folks out of position to save you. 4. You dont have to play games on HOF. Dont do it to yourself. The timing online is different. Go to gatorade to get a feel of how tight the online timing is. Then practice online. I shoot nearly 70% from the field and 3 in the city/theater and i shoot 60% in the rec from both also. I average 15 in the rec and as of the last few days my scoring is actually somewhere around 22. 5. You need to be able to make moving shots to take that next level if being a scorer is your goal. 6. Passing on your build needs to be high enough to at least get bronze dimer 62 passing is the minimum. At 62 passing i average 4 assists and it helps being able to give the ball up once i start getting doubled. On my builds with 87 ish pass i can EASILY get 12 assists. 7 even great scorers run into great defenders. No matter how great i feel i am at scoring, im willing to give the ball up to the open man. A lethal scorer also willing to pass is basically unguardable and a great addition to ANY team.

I use to play point guard in old 2ks and was good at it without the unnecessary dribbling. But since 23 I started playing rec and realised there are a lot of bad and selfish players in the rec when I thought it was just the park. So I made a center that can guard all positions and make the 3 but it’s frustrating because when low iq players don’t want to pass the ball and abuse the match up of a 6’2 guard matched up against a 6’10 center.

If there are any new players or players who are trying to get better… please, just create a small forward between 6’7” - 6’10”. Bring that wingspan as high as possible while keeping an 80 3pt. prioritize rebounding, max physicals, some perimeter & interior D, 80+ passing, 81+ steal, 80+ block, an 80 3pt and some driving dunk & standing dunk (75 & 45 is ideal). If you are trying to find friends who play 2k, you have to keep in mind that most groups already have their PG & Center established.. so just create a wing who can do a little bit of everything.. you’ll have a better time

Bro....the 3rd reason made me want to go into random rec, cuss people out, and leave lol the last couple days me and my homie have been playing with others who ALL were trying to do too much! I swear I ask multiple times a day "WHAT ARE YOU LOOKIN AT?!?!?!" Another thing I've noticed is that most people are trying to push the tempo of a game the entire game and they not only do they not understand that you don't always have to play fast and aggressive, but they don't even know how to in the first place. I started slowing down my playstyle and people started just flying by me. They start guarding people where there is no one and I get easy buckets. And I can't stand when someone passes me the ball on a fast break before I get into position. Now for me to get a high percentage shot, it takes more time because I have to catch the ball, which we all know slows you down for some reason, then run to my spot, stop, then shoot. I could take a fade, but those are inconsistent for me. Just wait another second, let me get closer to spot so I can catch and shoot. Would be way more space for me to take the shot and I'd be more stable to take a good looking shot. Position is everything and if people just took the time to pay attention, we'd have a lot more quality games out here.
@xXDEUC35Xx8 ай бұрын
That's just one example of many, where impatience, bad timing and bad positioning is the reason they're bad at the game lol If people realized that what they do effects what others do, they'd understand that subtle movements will get you open or your teammates open way more than b-lining it right to where someone else already is.

So few players build players who can pass that I find myself leading games in assists so often I am surprised when I don’t. This year I made a 3 level glass cleaner with a 78 3 ball and literally cash out with 3-7 3 pointers a game. It’s all about passing the ball out when the shot isn’t there. Too many players try to iso and shoot the 3 when there are other options available on the court such as pick and roll, pick and pop, cutters, spot up. IQ is where players are lacking

Let’s emphasize that point where you said YOU AINT THE MAIN CHARACTER!! Don’t be so desperate to score, and let it happen naturally. I’ve played games where I have 4 points going into the 4th just playing my role but because the rest of the team was drawing attention I started getting the ball and end up with the most points on the team .

Got to let the offense come to you. Most folks that be complaining online are the same ones forcing it up over multiple defenders.

Actually knowing how to play the game of basketball is important too. Anybody can press buttons but if you don’t understand floor spacing, help defense, adjusting your play style according to how your opponent plays, etc. you are going to suck and not even realize it lmao

This year was the first year I ever played 2k, or even watched basketball in general. Got put into the spin cycle on Pro difficulty, forget playing online. A newbie guide just to get dumbasses like me on the right path would be awesome. This video was helpful, but I'm a fucking retard apparently idk I laughed hard at dropping a 100 piece on Kawhi's head. Literally did that then put the difficulty up and got blended.

About to send this vid to one of my homies lol. This dude blames 2k for everything. He'll go 0-5 from the 3 and blame it on latency while I'm 6/6 from the 3 🙄 complains when a player is cooking him and say "the dude is just fast" but yet his build is actually faster 😂 cries if he has to guard a sg while he's a sf with 90+ prem defense and yet still gets cooked. Dude also dribbles with his head down. You'll have people open in the corner and his excuse was nah man the mf was closing out on y'all and would've stole the ball 🙄😡. Half the time I just appear offline and play solo rec & cook in there instead of getting destroyed in squad rec with him 😂

@@luckyzcorner u get spoon fed buckets all game and all u gotta do is right stick up, box out and hold the pass button when u get a rebound , that’s the easiest position 😂
@luckyzcorner8 ай бұрын
Then spoon fed shots are not as often as one would think. N right stick and up is getting blocked or ur jumping into sumones body 🤦🏿♂️. But seriously tho it’s more so on defense where it gets hard for bigs with hedging and having to take em the paint on defense and still guard a popper. Its ezer thn pg definitely but harder thn sitting corner or playing wing where ya mainly gotta hit ya opens and not get bsckdoored ⏸️ imo at least
