As a person with a face dysmorphia, thank you. I used to abuse myself with being obsessed about how I look but now I’m more and more healing and falling in love with myself everyday. Loving yourself isn’t about being “perfect”, loving yourself is about being okay if others not view you as “perfect” because you are more than these terms. You are someone, you are yourself. Your existence in here means something.

Self love is important, but when you want to be loved by a stranger, not just your family and pets, you may need to put some effort into making yourself more attractive to others. Might be character change, life style change. There is always someone there who will love you for who you are now, but sometimes improving yourself slightly also improves confidence and helps with self love. Some people get stuck in a cycle of self improvement and it takes over their life though, creating a faux identity of an overly ambitious person, which becomes simply fake. Tweak yourself, dont change yourself 🫂

Although it's true that beauty standards have conditioned us on right & wrong kinds of bodies, they are still subjective. Health standards though are objective, so please do not try to convince people that the "other extreme" is ok. It is not. It's good to alleviate the stress people (esp women) feel about not having the "perfect body", but please stop trying to normalize a body that can and will lead to health problems like diabetes, heart disease etc...

Excellent talk! As a photographer, I find that some of the wide angle lenses on smartphones are distorting faces in a very unnatural and awful way if the phones are not pointed at us from a selfie-stick distance. It's why Photoshop implemented lens correction features sorted by phone brand and model. I too, prefer to be behind the camera rather than in front of the lens.
