How incredible would it be if you could travel across the entire globe in just a few short hours? It would be amazing, if supersonic jets weren't abandoned, but they are for a good reason. Why would supersonic passenger planes never make it to the mass public? Check out our new video where one bad accident is all it took for supersonic jets to be too dangerous for general passenger transportation.

You've got serious quality control problems (or, even, basic knowledge and intelligence issues), buddy: 1. As others have pointed out, the Bell X-1 was rocket-powered, not jet-propelled. If you didn't already know that, you should consider yourself an aviation ignoramus. 2. As others have pointed out, the Concorde was not the only commercial supersonic airliner. The Soviets flew the TU-144, nicknamed the "Concordski" for a short period, but it was a commercial, supersonic airliner. 3. A rigorous program of training is a "regimen", not a "regiment." A regiment is a military formation usually consisting of at least two battalions. These are not terms that literate people confuse. 4. You twice mentioned the "exuberant" costs of the Concorde, and even put it in your graphic. "Exuberant" means "filled with lively energy or excitement," something of which money is incapable. I think you mean "exorbitant," meaning "unreasonably expensive." Again, these are not words that literate people confuse. 5. The graphic you used for the DeHavilland Comet didn't look even remotely like a Comet. Not even close. The Comet had two engines on each side built into the wings, not hanging below them in nacelles, almost at the wing roots. Its appearance was very distinctive and looks nothing like the graphic you used. So, you can't get basic aviation facts right and you totally flunk middle-school level vocabulary. How is a viewer to trust anything else you say without going out and personally verifying it? You've basically flushed any credibility you might have. I'm going to give a few of your other videos a try, but if they follow the same standard, that's the last you will see of me.

My sister flew on the concord entirely by accident. She booked a flight from France to NY but her flight was canceled and the only plane available that she was able to switch to was a concord jet. She said it was the coolest flight she's ever been on. I wish more airlines would compete to try and develop more affordable and quieter supersonic jets. By canceling it, it feels like we're reversing progress.

Wish they'd bring back Concorde. I mean probably improve it a bit to make it a bit quieter and more environmentally friendly. But my mum worked at BA during that time and says it was amazing. Also since then its kind of hard to think of the British making something that groundbreaking.

It’s not called a TARMAC, it’s either an apron, ramp, taxiway, or runway. Planes don’t use miles per hour, they use knots.

Well infographicshow you might not believe this but the company named boom wanted to create a supesonic airliner thats cheaper at the buisness class instead of first class which means it would be viable to more people in a matter of time Edit: beside the concorde is actually preety quite it was the Tupolev Tu-144 that was extremely loud

WAY too expensive and the Mach power made some people sick. Unfortunately we cannot teleport. A 6 hour flight will Just have to do for now.

Supersonic commercial flight has a niche market (business travelers needing to go somewhere super fast). Nowadays, that niche might not be big enough for a return of supersonic flight to be viable with the rise of the internet.

One graphic you missed on the Concorde video is that there is a speed monitor in the cabin that all the passengers could see the actual speed and the pilot would announce when the plane passes Mach 1 and Mach 2

Well actually i was on a supersonic flight😁 Winter of 2013 AA 777 to Frankfurt Intl from JFK, we hit an insane tailwind that got us over the speed of sound over the Atlantic. It was pretty awesome because the pilots told us over the pa, he said this is extremely rare and he only had this happen to him 3 other times. It was weird because we felt no difference inside the cabin but it was pretty cool knowing we were faster than sound for a short period of time. something i’ll never forget
4 жыл бұрын
Yes, this can happen if the plane can ride a jetstream. However, this is not a real speed of sound, because you move together with the medium (air). You were moving over the speed of sound only as compared to the ground. Otherwise, the plane would fall apart.
@6z0
@6z0 4 жыл бұрын
Dávid Molnár Yes i know that technically over the ground we are still moving faster than the speed of sound.
