Are you wondering which sewing machine is better? In this video, we'll compare overlocking and overcasting sewing machines, and help you make the decision that's best for you.
Overlocking and overcasting are two techniques that are Occasionally Used in Sewing. In this video, we'll compare the two techniques, and help you decide which one is better for your needs. We'll also give you some tips on how to use overlocking and overcasting, so you can start sewing confidently and quickly!
I show how you can get that professional look with the overcast presser foot. I sew 4 different stitch designs on 2 pieces of fabric, one thick and the other is a light thin piece. In this video, I show you how to serge with a brother sewing machine.

Not many tutorials get straight to the point, I hate it when they are half way through and all they do is waste time talking about their lives, introducing their kids and pets, telling us what they did and where they went on vacation, WHO CARES? When I look for a video I want them to get straight to the point, that is why I hate lives too, too much time wasted on saying HI to everyone that get on the chat!

I cook. I sew. I embroider. I do laundry & make the beds. And I can change a baby diaper with the best of 'em. I'm a certified fitness instructor & I teach fitness classes at our local YMCA for a living and to help keep myself and my participants fit. But I'm also an ASE certified automotive technician, an accomplished machinist, computer programmer (since the C64 days using primarily C++ and MS Visual Basic 6), semi-pro paid photographer since 1982, accomplished electronics designer & technician both analog & digital. I can also ride & handle both street & dirt motorcycles, hunt & fish, set & collect traps, service and maintain and shoot several types of firearms, and defend myself if needed. Not intending to toot horn here, I am a humble & very thankful person. The point of this comment is to show that it is very much possible - and nowadays more acceptable - for either a man or a woman to have the abilities and to fill roles which are traditionally stereotyped to gender :). I like to do a bit of both and my wife SO appreciates it :). Great video & demonstration. I have a small serger but it is a pain to keep it threaded & happy. But my beloved Kenmore 385.xx sewing machine has the "C" overcast foot and now thanks to you I know when & how to use it :)

Fantastic close up images, and detailed explanations. Thank you for the video. I have a simpler and older Brother machine that has a built in “overlock stitch”. I felt intimated but now I can practice.

I have a new Brother sewing machine similar to this one, and just did an overcasting stitch. I didn't know whether the right stitch should actually go INTO the fabric, and obviously it just barely does! So thank you!

That was a great video! I was almost going to by a overcast foot for my brother sewing machine but my machine already came with all the feet including the overcast foot! Glad I found that out before purchasing one! Thank you!

Thank you so much for this informative and easy to understand video. i had no idea my machine could do this - it's not a Brother, it's just a cheap one i got from Lidl a few years ago, but prompted by your video, I got the manual out and there it is - 3 types of overcast stitch. Time to practice now. Onwards and upwards! xx

Great instructional video. I am glad I found it because I want to try that stitch exactly for some expanded pillowcases. Having a dude teach me just adds that extra level of comfort for another guy; and your tone and manner of teaching is so cool, clam and collected. I look forward to checking out your other videos. Thanks.

Very good instructional video. Any machine that does a stretch stitch can replace a serger. Unless one sews an incredible amount of knit wear using the same patterns over and over, a serger can be an expensive extravagance.
