I’m new to sewing and go figure I found an interest only after losing my mom and grandmothers. I could cry in gratitude for you. Thank you, a million times, thank you. I love all your video’s - every single one. You’re a rock star!

Oof i actually bought one of these, i think it's the same one you have there. I haven't got around to trying it out yet, & perhaps I won't bother! Other short videos demonstrating these attatchements have made it seem relatively problem-free. Your video shows it more realistically so thank you-- i'm glad i only spent 7 dollars on the foot, rather than having to pay for a machine repair!

I too bought one of these from Amazon and it was a piece of garbage. However I didn’t give up and bought the brother side cutter SA147. I understand the newer version is SA177. I couldn’t be more pleased with it. It’s compatible with many sewing machines. You just have to clip it on like other presser feet. It finishes the seam and cuts off the excess fabric just like a serger. It’s not as fast as a serger but goes as fast as you can do your foot pedal. I even can use it on my basic manual brother sewing machine the LX3817A when we travel. I can put my fabric under and over for it to act like a serger or I can just put it under the foot and it sews like a sewing machine without cutting the fabric. It takes little practice getting used to it but after that works like a dream. Just a spool of thread and a bobbin. Takes up no space in your sewing room and it packs in my sewing accessory case for traveling.

I'm another sucker who tried to save a few bucks! I'm off to buy the real thing. Thanks for your comments. I didn't want to give up! It really helps to know perseverance pays off. :) Simplysewing thanks for an excellent and honest review!

I agree with other commenters. At first I was excited, what a cool gadget, and I wanted one. I gasped in horror when it jammed your machine. You are so clever to know how to fix yours. If that had happened to my machine, I'm sure I couldn't repair it on my own. I've never seen that before where you can pay a few dollars on an attachment and damage an expensive investment. I already knew about flying broken needles, and I was surprised you didn't show in your video where you manually made sure the needle is centered and will not hit the presser-foot before applying the power. Thank you for sharing a very valuable lesson. For future, I plan to proceed with caution when purchasing attachments.

Very interesting I've never came across one of those before. My heart was in my mouth when your machine jammed that's never good. I agree an actual overlocker is best I'm on the hunt for one but might wait for the January sales, wrong side of Christmas to be buying a new one 😊
@SimplyStitchy
@SimplyStitchy 9 ай бұрын
Yes, waiting for January is a good idea. There should be more bargains available... and don't forget the 2nd hand listings... unwanted Christmas presents, that kind of thing. My Singer Simple, Simon, has recovered from his ordeal. I've promised never to put him through that ever again! As for the foot... I think I'll be sending it back. 🙂

A long time ago I used to help out a sort of shady guy who sold Necchi sewing machines. He'd rent out of conference centers or short term commercial rental spaces and he'd sell a literal ton of of machines. He'd always package one of these feet in with the purchase of a new machine and try to upsell to a serger. No knocks on Necchi by the way. I'm not sure what their product line is like now but I have a BU Mira and much newer HD22 and they are both very nice machines.

Thank you for the video. The similar attachment for the bernina is $100. I can buy a decent serger for about $250. Seeing your machine jam made my decision. I will buy a ruffler/pleat foot with my money

@@victoriahannah1633 ok . I see mostly bad comments about the foot but figured maybe they had a different machine. Most were not making the starter cut as well. I ordered the brother brand instead of the cheaper foot because I did not want to damage my machine. Glad it works for you. I'm hoping I get the same results 🙃
