I found a problem of finding someone to swap my winters and summers. Nobody wanted to just swap tyres without selling new ones. Luckily I found one garage near me who would do it. I’m going all season now I’ve changed my car which has come with budget summer tyres. They’ve improved so much that I believe they’re now the best option in the south of the UK.

All seasons do seem to be the best option for the South. Our temperatures and road conditions aren’t as extreme as further North.

Winter tyres beat all season, when it comes to overall winter performance and STOPPING DISTANCES Is my experience in my 2017 Vivaro Van and repeated tests show (check out KZbin)... I Bought a set of winter tyres after getting to know about them from a colleague who always got into work after driving 15 miles each way from home to work, whilst some drivers with only 2 to 5 miles were at best very late into work. The colleague who did the 30 mile round trip had to travel from Buxton in the High Peak. I bought a spare set of rims so switching from summer to winter and back cost about £25 each time. Use my 6 year old steel rims for winter use and have a set of rims for summer tyres.

I run all my vehicles on MIchelin CrossClimate 2s. Brilliant all round tyre. Effective in 95% of conditions. I've used them extensively throughout Europe including Swiss winters. Obviously at altitude and in very poor conditions the locals use full snow tyres.

I always used to swap winter and summer tyres on my car, I used to buy part warn winter ones and just keep them for one winter, the summer ones lasted longer as well with taking them off. Last winter I changed for the cross climate tyres and kept them on all winter and this summer and I would have got this winter out of them if I hadn’t swapped the car for my first van, I will be getting some cross climates for the van, I live of the tops of the Pennines so we do get a lot of poor weather in winter

Yea, I agree completely. Grew up learning to drive in a country with proper winters - always with effective all-season tyres. Took just one dangerous snowy winter in Southeast UK to decide I’d never drive on summer tyres again. I’ve bought several sets of Cross Climates over the last 7+ years. Including on my T6. Haven’t let me down yet.

The correct tyre makes a huge difference. I’m doing mine soon and was looking at those Michelins, it’s between those and the Continental All Season Contact. Will speak to my tyre guy 😀

Michelin Agilis cross climate! Hands down the best all season tires. Designed for light commercial vehicles and there are numerous great reviews, some from fleet vehicles owners etc. I have them and are brilliant.

Been considering the same. Actually got stuck in some mud over Easter on a wet field, had to be towed off. How do they perform in mud?
