I super love layering the sample with up or down pitched version of itself, I use that idea quite a lot. Typically I'm also adding some different processing and resampling it first, then pitching that, to for example have a sample that sounds like slowed down with a bad quality tape if using saturation, or pitching reverb reflections that has been mentioned before on this channel too!

it's not even 3/4 it's a triplet melody at 80bpm lol, he got it completely wrong but it can happen sometimes with triplet melodies when you never use triplets cause it's very uncommon in actual hiphop to use triplets, only in trap its more common

Samples used to feel unmanageable to me, not that I couldn't chop and stretch them but it took SO MUCH time. Serato sample was a game changer for me. I probably could have gotten faster at doing it right in my DAW but doing everything I want takes no time at all in Serato

He’s saying they’re super basic sounding. You can chop it up if you want but might as well keep it as is and make a basic ass trap beat, if you’re gonna use it as all. Don’t stray away from guitars though, they can be great if used right, just so many basic trap beats with a guitar loop. Using jazzier/bluesier guitar samples will get a less basic sound and using them as accents rather than the center of your beat will also help.

Don’t sleep on drums and textures. You could try to use more live-sounding drums, bass and other stuff that you don’t usually find in a basic corny ass trap beat. Also, listen to different genres helps a lot.

A 3/4 beat still has a 4/4 count…..count on the 1 🙃 Instead of 1,2,3,4 it would be 1…2…3…4…1 (etc). It will be a slower bpm obliviously, but you will be able to loop it in my experience.

0:32 that was actually not 3/4 lol it was just triplet rhythm in 4/4 and Ig you didn't notice that but all g, if you think of the notes as triplets and you make a metronome with some sound of your mouth to it you can easily tell it's in 4/4. It's actually around 80 bpm btw
