From how I play the enemies tend to like to target unit with lowest def or HP too. Previously pre Tingyun def 900 like around 600? While my entire team have over 900 def because I grind so much artifact for them. Tingyun gets attack like 75% of my gameplay... Now it change to Silver Wolf cause... 1) I just got her. 2) I never level any artifact yet. 3) Now that Tingyun def is 900 and now its Silver Wolf who have def 700. Silver Wolf get attack too. From most video there's one thing in common with my gameplay "Tingyun have high atk but def under 800" Meanwhile their entire team have def over 900 as side effect of "bad artifact roll" TBH def isn't that bad now that I realize you can't dodge in Honkai Starrail... You need them...

@@theploot8230 not being able to explain the video doesn't change the fact that hp doesn't affect taunt. It's either a bug or confirmation bias, we can't really be sure unless people get into the game files somehow. The only things currently confirmed to have impact on aggro are paths, LC effects, some abillities and traces. That's it. Stats do nothing to change it (other than the hp required to activate the -aggro trace on hunt characters)

I think it is confirmation bias in Tingyun's case. She usually is very squishy so we def notice when she gets attacked because her HP gets low quicker/more often, even though other characters also get attacked a lot, but still survive. I'm sure her aggro is the same as other harmony characters, but it does still hurt a lot when she dies... If only the enemies would spare our fragile little fox lady :'c

Not really on my case, I played her with Clara and March. Clara has March's shield + ult, yet she still gets attacked 4 times in a row. I thought at first there's 2 character that has a high aggro value and can't decide that they targeted my Tingyun. I also tried having 2 Harmony with 1 preservation having Landau's Choice yet she died at the very 1st turn because all the enemies attacked her. I stopped using her since, I can't bear it.

all this thing to consider, i'm 100% sure tingyun have something going on with her or the enemies can't resist the foxian beauties i put moment of victory on march cast her shield on herself and the enemies manage to attack my tingyun twice on the other scenario, i usually use moment of victory on my fire MC and if i didnt use their taunt, the enemies just go attacking someone else and slam their AoE attack to my tingyun adjecent unit

I kept track of enemy attacks for a couple of days, exactly because of Tingyun (and to a lesser etend Yangqing) constantly getting attacked, even with FireMC on the team. Weirdly enough, during the time of keeping track, the attacks landed mostly as expected, with Tingyun even getting attacked LESS than my erudition character. The moment I stopped recording, the game went straight back to focusing her. I'm kinda glad none of the "aggro" values are readily available, cause if they are "unknown" it doesn't feel like the game is ignoring its own rules.

There are multiple factors at play that all make it seem like Tingyun has 1000 aggro value: 1. Psychological (Confirmation + Negativity bias) - Confirmation bias when you assume your Tingyun is getting hit more, so you notice more when she is getting hit. Negativity bias because you forget the times the enemies attack your tank (the "right" thing) but when they attack your Tingyun (the "wrong" thing) you remember more vividly. 2. Preservation units (besides Gepard) are not much higher than Harmony - Tingyun still has a decent chance to be attacked even with a Preservation in the team. God forbid you have an Abundance + Destruction defensive core, making Tingyun basically one of the tanks in terms of how much aggro she will draw. If you have a cursed Ab - Ha - Hu - Er team your Tingyun IS one of the tanks whether you intended for that or not. 3. Tingyun is not built correctly - Tingyun doesn't need full balls to the walls attack. People seem to think that if you don't stack as much attack as is humanly possible on Tingyun you will get much less value from her, but let me give you a tip I learned from MMOs: The biggest value loss is death. Although the meta is still young, a lot of the "meta" Tingyun builds include either some defensive main stats on relics or encourage a myriad of defensive substats.

I didn't know Tingyun's aggro was an actual widespread problem. A couple of says ago i was doing MoC 4 i think and I had my Tingyun at second half. First half went really well but the start of second half, Tingyun literally got killed turn 1 by Kafka. I raged quit and haven't even tried again since.

Having other teammate targeted after Clara's Ult while protected by March's shield feels like in Genshin Impact using R5 Sac Sword & get that 20% of passive not proccing. It feels incredibly annoying & combat RNG feels more annoying than Relic RNG. This shows how Hoyoverse defines gacha games as RNGs beyond banner summon RNG & build grind RNG. There is another hidden mechanic, the less the character's defense, the greater the probability of being attacked. It also affects the level. I have tingyun built with some def% pieces and they rarely attack her. It is also possible for enemies to target characters with low defense and high atk. Another trick is to take the fire protagonist of maximum to lvl 70, being low level he will have greater focus from the enemies.

The actual reason Tingyun got target a lot is because Tingyun actually has two path, one is harmony which is 100 AGGRO value, and Destruction which has 125 AGGRO value, combine that and you got 225 AGGRO which the highest in the game😢 So spoiler alert for 1.2 : we know that tingyun is actually Phantilya in disguse, Phantilya is Kinda like the general of Destruction path who work under the Aeon Of Destruction Directly

I think there might be some hidden low health modifier because even with 1 Hunt 1 Abundance 1 Erudition and 1 Preservation team, my Erudition character which in low health will keep getting target until they die or heal to full. Also apparently it affect flat hp instead of % hp, I did another test with 1 half-raised Sushang 1 8k hp Blade 1 Preservation and 1 Abundance and Sushang got aggro on her 2 turn in a row even though Blade was in roughly 30% hp.

I don’t think this explains why my 4 star Dan Heng is downed first. He keeps on getting targeted. Hunt characters are supposed to have one of the lowest aggro values in the game. My team setup is: 1: Gepard 2: Natasha, 3: Dan Heng, 4: Tingyun. His target probability chance is (maybe) 6%, while Tingyun has a much higher target probability. Can someone help explain what happened.

I always bring Fire Traiblazer and March 7th in the same team made them the highest chance of being hit. additional with landau choice for fire trailblazer. the rest is probably is a buffer/debuff and erudition/hunt. Both of my preservation are e6 and built defense making them sturdy and deal enough dmg/cause freezes despite being tanks (break effect for fire traiblazer, hit rate with march along with the sphere set that increases def on high hit rate). They are not fully built (relics level 9 on avg) but they can protrct my team with little heal up to MOC 6. Its the most f2p team imo

There's one "simple" fix - Gepard with his LC. If you account was blessed by RNG gods enough, Gepard will take like 99% of the incoming dmg.

Nah. I run a maxed out Gepard with his LC. Its more of a 85% as my SW/Pela now gets smacked like theyre Tingyuns. 😂

Someone datamine the combat code/character data already. Or harvest a data set of like 10000 combat scenarios with Tingyun in the team to actually calculate the "real" aggro value The memes are funny but when (according to random people on the Internet) Tingyun still gets hit several times in a row with Clara with her ult up and with March 7th shield, it's becoming really suspicious. You just need like a hundred players to log 10 battles with Tingyun in the team, then extrapolate her aggro value from it. Alternatively, people should check if the formula is actually valid. The data set should definitely approach the given formula if it's large enough.
