iPhone camera always tries to make me look more yellow toned, but you can see my rainbow makeup tutorial video where I use a different camera and I look more pink/almost purple 😂 most colors that look ashy and “dead” on other people are very flattering for my skin tone!

@@jazlmao Yes! I watched that video first and came back to this one to comment. I also look great in ashy and dead tones, which is where the "desaturated" part comes in (Hannah Louise Poston has great videos on this). I definitely believed and continue to believe you when you say you're cool toned (you know you best), just wanted to offer that you might be cool AND olive (it's possible to be both and many are)! I recommend the olivemua subreddit to see if any of the photos or makeup qualms resonate with you (it sounds like they do) because, as humans, our skintones often don't fit into discrete boxes of warm/cool, but rather more nuanced combinations such as neutral leaning warm, cool desaturated olive, reddened saturated warm, etc. Just food for thought! In many ways in doesn't matter because regardless of what you call it, or what tone it is, your skin and color choices always look beautiful!

I’m a neutral skin toned true autumn in seasonal colouring and most nudes seem super muted/cool and pink on me. Browns are also often too muted/cool on me. I still haven’t found any colors I like on myself. But I have a warm brown matte lipstick and a pumpkin orange lip liner and I love them. Still looking for a good nude tho.

i think thats about my skin aswell but im also kinda pale (not extremely tho like normally pale lmao) and i struggle so much with finding a good concealer because they are all looking pink and the yellow ones are too dark most of the time man

Im also a neutral fair (asian) skintone. Anything w just a bit pink look super pink on me. There are shades where the website describes as “peachy nudes/ warm nudes” that look straight pink on me 😭 a lot of nudes look super washed off on me but i usually mix them w a toned down color that fit me to be able to wear nudes

I have the same issue. The disappointment I felt over the CT pillow talk shade that was supposed to look pink, only turns peach on my lips. Oof. I went all in on the pillow talk fair line, though. That one actually does pull soft pink on me, and I adore it!

this is super funny, bc looking at you, you dont appear as cool toned as you actually are!! this is a huge issue for POC (especially asians and latines) who are typically just told theyre warm toned bc of their skin color undertone is SO important!!!

Yeah, I'm very cool toned as well and purply-mauve as you call it, is probably the most flattering lipstick tone on me. Most reds and brauns I can't wear at all. Sometimes I find a pink or very cool red that works, but in the usual shade range of 20-30 colors, it's never more than 2-3.

yes yes yes this is SO real!!!!!!! i am the palest possible shade but i have NEVER found a foundation concealer etc that is cool enough for me everything always looks peach no matter how pale. my veins are all a deep violet hue with some rare deep blues. literally every single palest product ive ever used looks so peach on me. ive found one (1) mac blush that matches my coolness and pretty much only mauve lipsticks suit me😭😭😭

After realizing that I need to be looking for colors that pull purple, I finally found some lipsticks I can wear without looking like a clown 😂

Same! Sometimes I’ll be in Sephora and a lipstick will even look cool in the packaging, and then I get super bummed after swatching it because it looks way warmer on me than I thought it would. I think the lighting in the store contribute to this, as I think the accent lighting in the shelves is a little blue toned which makes the colors look less orange before you pick them up.

It may not be that you're cool toned, but rather that you're coloring is bright and so muted shades like nudes wash you out. Look into color analysis, you could be a bright spring, which is bright and warm

I’ve been typed as a winter! Muted shades will look good on me if they are cooler toned, like mauve. I do prefer deeper shades though. Since I have high contrast a lot of bright colors do work well with me :)

My problem is that I'm like pretttyyy sure im neutral cause I have all different vein colors, I think I can pull off both gold and silver, BUT my only problem is I have a very yellow overtone :( , especially when I wear anything pink, (which sucks cause I LOVE Pink and thats most of my wardorbe) But I genuinely cant figure out what colors look best or if I should stick to warms or if cool is fine too IDKKKK

SAME happens for me! It just means that the browns you’re using are too warm for you. Try using more taupe/cooler brown shades, like a gray brown! Those will show up on you the way you want a brown to! 🤎 Kaleidos has quad palettes that have perfect cool toned browns for us! The Venus Trap palette is my go-to!

You might be warm toned, I’ve seen orange shades look more pink on warm toned people. Since it’s the opposite issue, you need to find shades that are even warmer. “Divine Rose” from Pat McGrath looks orange on me, but pink on warmer people. So finding a shade that’s warmer than that color will help!

I’m not warm unfortunately. The warm tones are contrasting with my skin tone so they look even warmer than they normally would! If I were warmer the colors would melt into my skin tone more easily, I hope that makes sense!

i don’t think ur super cool toned unless the lighting is off, but brands usually don’t have accurate photos anyway, and swatches other people post online are so dependent on their lighting and camera settings they have. i notice a lot of super muted looking swatches online but it’s just a cheap phone camera making it look that way :/

like I get undertones have a part but I do think there’s a trend of beauty companies making their swatches look so much cooler than they actually are? I think a lot of kbeauty shades are truly muted cool tones and don’t have that saturation so you should try those oh and ofc you know your own skin tone and experiences more than me, just thought i’d add my thoughts on how inaccurate lip and blush swatches have been for me over the years 🥲

I think the "issue" is that your lips are very pale. Most people's lips are much redder, incl. the model in the photos you showed.

I can see why you think that! This is a full coverage product though, so even if I had a lip stain on underneath it wouldn’t matter because the lip product would cover it. My surrounding skin color is what informs the actual product color. This is called “color relativity” it’s fascinating!

I'm always so good at telling which is everyone's undertone, but I have never been able to tell what mine is! All I know is I enjoy darker tones, specially brown tones but sometimes soft tan colors end up looking so PALE on me, 🥲 one day I'll figure it out
