I think the problem here is that the TCG is multilanguage. For example I'm from Germany and we have cards printed in german here. Since we play by TCG ruling as well, the new archetype monster have to count for us as well, even if the german printing of the card didn't have them accidentally named after them. And if a german print accidentally made a monster into an archetype, the english cards would need to be part of this archetype as well. Same goes for french, spanish and all the other prints. That would result into a massive headache so I understand why Konami just rules monsters out of an archetype if they aren't part of it in the OCG because it's the easiest solution to stay consistent in all languages.

@@runningoncylinders3829 Yeah the part that bugs me is when Konami really wants to sell new cards despite powercreep, so they hard nerf the older cards that need the help. Then everyone's pretty much only running the new cards. Great for business, horrible for keeping veterans wanting to play the game if their own favorite archetype gets nerfed cause Tears exists.... (which had nothing to do with the archetype except for one arbitrary interaction that breaks the game wide open. How long was Jet Synchron and Ancient Fairy Dragon banned for that reason?)

I once saw a replay that used various -roid cards to make Super Vehicroid - Mobile Base, which just needs a "roid" fusion and "roid" monster as materials. As such, Necroid Shaman and Dark Jeroid are legal materials for it.

With the first point: having the cards be in archetypes when they weren't supposed to. While things like -Frog the Jam- Slime Toed working with Frogs wouldn't have any meta relevance; I think it's more about keeping the interactions consistent between OCG and TCG. Plus they wanna keep that precedent

The issue is consistency between the OCG and TCG. Konami probably doesn't want cards to do different things in the two versions of the game, even if the difference is as minor as whether or not a shitty McDonald's promo card is a valid target or not.

Air Hummingbird is one card I hope gets a name change eventually. Air Neos has been imprisioned for far to long. I've always wondered if Konami just changed Air hummingbirds name to Sky Hummingbird, Then made a new Neos Fusion called Sky Neos with a similar effect to Air Neos, if that would fix things.

I think it’s the design of Air Neos that falls under a Mad Lobster realm rather than the name. It’s the same for Shuttleroid. It fell under a non-use category for resembling a real shuttle. Notably this only applies to Air Neos, not Air Hummingbird; so it’s likely to be the design. Mr. Takahashi’s cards are also protected by his estate presumably which makes reprint or game additions difficult.

I doubt it'll ever come out of the legal / copyright nightmare state that its in, and the best way I think of to do this is to just rename hummingbird thus allowing them to creating a brand new Neos fusion to takes its place with a brand new design.

@@GabuFGC Make new Spaciens then. Hummingbird is fine as is, and it’s the design of his Neos, be it Kamen Rider or Ultraman, whichever series wasn’t keen on it that stopped him. Hummingbird being renamed would be unlikely to get the old fusion back with a matching name. Hummingbird could get a new fusion Neos altogether, and it’ll be ok. Or just get a new Wind one for the attribute. If invoked can get an additional Light anything like that is game. If Nex has 2 spaciens and 1 Neos add to that unexplored lineup. Make it like Assault Modes with better support.

It's wild to me that this game was originally based heavily on Magic in its infancy (which is why old cards like waboku were confusing back in the day, since it was going off of MtG combat rulings), but DON'T use the subtype formating of it to seperate archetypes. How hard would it be for the creature type to be [Dragon//Red-Eyes]? This would even remove all the translation nuance with naming conventions.

Gradius's option is correct if it's referring to a singular proper noun. If you're making the possessive of a name ending in "s" you still add the "'s" the apostrophe by itself is for plural possessive unless they changed it.

Here's more to that with an example In American English, you can use Chris' or Chris's interchangeably, unless you're using a specific style guide that prefers one spelling over the other. In British English, Chris's is the spelling that most people use.

My favourite case of accidently being an archetype card is in a German translation. Adhesive Trap Hole = Klebefallgrube. The Infestation Archetype = Befall. So The KleBEFALLgrube was accidently an Befall Karte, and was changed to Klebfallgrube

I swear OCG version of Wanted cannot be set by diablestar until they release official translation. I used to not set wanted for months until i got warning because calling a judge when i saw my opp set wanted by diablestar.
