Its been and gone.. what we need is a ZINE renaissance!! Tho i think i would pluck my eyes out if i had to read the fluffy ones advertised in this video.. i much more prefer things that make me laugh.. usually in INCREDIBLY bad taste.. not making fun of anyone.. MAKING FUN OF EVERYONE!!! Whether u have a stump leg.. or a bung eye.. gay, straight trans etc.. i think political incorrect zines are the funniest ive ever read.. but they died out in the 70s and 80s.. i would LOVE to see that again.. im not a hate filled person.. i would never want anyone to feel victimized.. i just think that freedom of speech is incredibly important.. and freedom of IDEAS are even more so.. The other day i have an awakening.. i saw this feminist "STAND UP" .. i had already written about 10 messages in the comment section about how her comedy isnt COMEDY and is just a lecture.. and bad mouthing men.. and i like to think im fairly sharp.. but i had been shooting people down like this for years.. it suddenly dawned on me.. THIS!! is how THEY SEE MY COMEDY!!! I instantly deleted my messages and shut up... funny how u can stand on a soap box and be guilty of defying the very ideology u espouse. Either way.. MORE ZINES no matter how flowery is a GREAT IDEA!! :)

This video really resonated with me! I'm such an analog person. I would always rather hold a physical object than do things digitally. This makes me want to create my own zine and find out if any of the creators I follow have their own zines. I will definitely be looking into this much more! Thank you for sharing.

I love that you're talking about ZINES!!! Oh, I miss them! I loved learning the true history- fascinating stuff. I thought they were just a thing from the 80's and 90's since they became a cult favorite past time at my high school in the mid 90s and I even started to make one when I was a teen. I had a couple that friends made and used to pore over them constantly. I really feel the same as you in regards to "over instagram" and wanting to get back to the slowed down, focused, and intentional appreciation of art. I think it's why I've turned to following a lot of artists on youtube. *One last thing: I highly recommend Frannerd here on YT and as a wonderful zine/comic artist- she's amazing :)

Thank you so much for showing these wonderful zines! I made a batch of zines for her funeral after my beloved aunt had past. I embellished each one with beads, ribbon and felt angel wings. Unfortunately, when I went to order them, the shipping from the UK to the US was wayyyy more than the zines! This happens to me so often. I see a wonderful print, go to order it, and the shipping is astronomical I miss out on a lot of special things ☹️

Towards the end of the year, I want to do a Quarantine Experience Zine talking about what I have done and learnt during my time in Lockdown. The type of Zines I want are artbooks and fan comics. Doing zines again has been on my mind for a while now. I like that you brought up the consumption aspect of art on instagram. However I have been wondering about the best way to use the format for those artists trying to establish themselves and make a living.
