Triumph was a phenomenal, yet underrated band in the 70s and 80s. Rik Emmett is a great vocalist and guitar player. Check out Allied Forces album, absolutely fantastic record.

The album opened up and there was a live shot and a board game... "Just A Game".

Album cover: The album is titled Just a Game so the cover reflects a game board. The early copies had an actual game inside the fold. Every thing on the cover depicts a song. The Band: As you discovered the band is no longer together. There were hard feelings between Rik towards Gil and Mike and they did not speak for years. Rik’s bother was battling cancer and told Rik he needed to get over it and reach out which he did and amends were made. This led to us fans hoping for a reunion tour. But at every show of Rik’s that I saw when asked he would always say it’s not going to happen. Easy for him and Mike to pick up their instruments but Gil would have a hard time getting into tour shape. And then Rik retired from touring himself. They did do a couple of songs for their Mega fans that was filmed for their documentary. Uplifting Songs: Rik has said with the band being called Triumph he felt like the songs had to fit the name.

Triumph wore a lot of white on stage because they wanted to separate themselves from the 'satanic panic' a lot of hard rock bands that wore black and sang about darker themes experienced. They also tended to write uplifting songs because they felt music should make you feel good and help you get thru life's low points. The song 'Magic Power' is a good reflection of that idea and one of their biggest hits.

Great reaction! Check out Fight the Good Fight (Live) from the US festival. They are a three man band and the guitar player is the singer for most of the songs, and he is absolutely one of the most talented musicians around. They are one of the few bands that sound better alive than in the studio. I liked and subscribed because of your reaction.

React to their whole line-up at the 83 US Festival if you want your mind blown about how good a 3 man band can be live. Start with Lay it on the Line, and Fight the Good Fight, and go from there. You will not be disappointed. Only band I have ever heard that are even better live than in the studio.😊

The cover is reflective of their career, they struggled out of Canada the first 2-3 years, ironically like Rush did..but broke in 79 in Texas of all places, then, got big back in Canada...they were known to do it all themselves, Bass player was Producer, Drummer was a studio genius...to this Day, Metalworks is the best studio on N.America...Drake did albumns there.. and Guitarist(Rik)?? He had a voice and real lyric ability....clean conservative, and concise...bands like Aerosmith scoffed, cause they didn't party, they worked!!! RIK left in 88,had enough & went solo...only 12years together.... Canadian HOF...all 3 still alive but in their 70s now🙏🙏👍👍🤘🤘🤘

This was my all time favorite band growing up in 70's and 80's but they got nudged out of that top spot in more recent years by a little band I'm sure you're familiar with called "The Warning". There are plenty of great songs from Triumph like "Fight The Good Fight", "Magic Power", or "Lay It On The Line"

Great reaction! One of the best Canadian bands of the 70's 80s and 90s. Three piece band. Check out Fight the Good Fight from the US Festival. They were basically destroyed by pressure from the record company forcing them into music that they didn't want to make.

Well, that was a blast from the past! Just think, music like this, because it was "rock and roll", was considered "devil's music" back in the 80s. Edit: as to Rush: take your pick. I'm not a super knowledgeable guy on the group, but I do enjoy their music. Here are a few suggestions: Limelight, Closer to the Heart, Tom Sawyer, Working Man, The Spirit of Radio, XYZ, and many, many more. I'm sure there will be others that can suggest a more comprehensible selection.
